Genvieve

The perfumer’s description makes this sound as if it is a classic perfume in the image of Chanel or Guerlain, but nothing could be further from the truth. In this case, that’s a good thing. Genvieve starts out strong and discordant, like a mixture of galbanum and new plastic shower curtain, but quickly settles into a “dirty” rose with fruity notes, gourmet rhubarb pie and, most of all, a powerful animalic base that’s probably mostly an excellent synthetic civet. It’s not a fecal, indolic animalic scent, but rather more like the odor of the fur of some small, sun-warmed golden-brown creature lying in a bed of roses. The drydown is the animalic scent along with caramel notes, and it lasts and lasts, especially on clothing. Sillage is excellent. The scent seems to develop a little differently each time I wear it, probably depending on weather conditions. This is a rose perfume that I can wear and love.

On me it's sour fruity at the beginning, then come some plastic notes and some notes that I can't describe. the lasting power is very good. It's not overpowering and very pleasant and unusual. So if you don't want to smell like everyone just try this. Upd: this one reminds mу a little of discontinued Fragonard's Lune de Miel. The same beautiful sour fruity shade.

Rose and hyacinth were what I thought that I was mainly smelling in Michael Storer GENVIEVE. According to the manufacturer's card, these are the primary notes: Bulgarian Rose Rose de Mai Desert Lily Flower Nuances of Apple and Pear Galbanum Sandalwood Japanese musk civet So I gather that the galbanum is the source of the greenishness I perceive, though it does not smell like heavy-duty galbanum (as in classic chypre) in this composition. Anyway, this is a lovely rose perfume. It's a different sort of green rose perfume than the usual rosebush-in-a-blender ones. The apple and pear notes remind me a bit of Hermès JARDIN SUR LE TOIT. But here the rose is much more important than the fruit peelings. The lily and the civet seem to be adding complexity and a touch of darkness to this creation. Now three for three, I'm prepared to make a bold induction on Michael Storer: the guy knows how to make fine floral perfumes! Good longevity and pretty big sillage.
