Kadota

The most amazing figs fragrance I ever had. Dates, grass and the wild fig. In the base you can find woods, something dry and animal like. However I have hundreds of niche fragrances I never found anything even similar to this one. Highly recommended if you wish to have something special and different than mass-market or even most niche fragrances. Lasting power is also amazing. Really I love Kadota.

This is vintage Ma Griffe incarnate, and every bit as deliciously milky green as the original.

I was surprised to find that what is supposed to be a fig scent smells nothing like figs, at least not initially. I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised since so many “fig” scents don’t smell like figs or, at best, smell like the waxy, dried version. Kadota starts out smelling like celery seed, celery leaves, fennel or tarragon, and chopped parsley, with a pinch of salt and something musky in the background. It’s definitely green, superbly green. Once I got past the expectation of figs and was able to visualize the makings of a nice soup all chopped up and ready to go, minus the onions, I started enjoying the green vegetable nature of Kadota. After an hour or so the green subsides to reveal a dried fig and date scent along with something like freshly cut green grass topped of by a tiny hint of something slightly floral. As it dries down the dried fig scent becomes more prominent along with Michael Storer’s signature warm, caramel-like musky base. There’s considerable sillage, and the scent lasts a full day on skin, longer on clothing. An eccentric perfume that I really don’t understand or relate to very well, but could certainly enjoy wearing from time to time in the same way that I enjoy its cousin, Caron Yatagan.

I don't know if I got a bad sample or what but I waited an hour and had to wash it off. I hate to write this review b/c the Perfumer is a sweetheart but I'm a green, woody, fig lover and I find nothing of these notes after an hour. Like other reviewers...the initial note is date syrup, drying down to maybe a hint of wood. But nothing green or figgy about this one that I so wanted to like. But check out his "winter" fragrance, it's to die for. Monk is also high on my list.

Disappointing.This perfume is a synthetic concoction where I can smell plastic,celery,milk,fig and wood,but in a ugly way. Kadota make me sick. I have done some test on fabric,but the result is the same. Try before buy,or stay away from it. Siilage and longevity are medium.
