Tattoo

I bought this at Ross having never smelled it because it sounded intriguing based on other's descriptions. I'm glad I did. Unlike what it's name suggests, there's nothing dark and brooding about this cologne. It's fresh and clean. It starts with a heavy alcohol smell, but, it's a better alcohol base than tends to be used by the cheap colognes (i.e. Dana, EA). This is a very nice summer scent and seems to work well for me. It's cheap...but doesn't smell cheap....let's say it's frugal :) It's very masculine without being animalistic. Very good for the office, gym or a summer's night on the town. It's a bit cool for winter wear for me. Not sure why everyone else seems to think it's a winter, spring, fall scent.

I absolutely love this fragrance. Just like @soned I got this big bottle for 10.00 and for the money you can not ask for a greater deal. The longevity and sillage is crazy!!!!!!!!!! Something in this reminds me of hugo's boss bottled but I like tattoo way better. Don't be afraid to blind buy this if you find a great deal on it.

Tattoo ? This is a soft caring juice, the edge comes from its likability. It reminds me of plastic (in a good way) and some type of powder with floral under tones. This is a keeper. Will buy it again.

Blind bought. Surprised . Reminded me of Boss Bottled for men. Has that sweet almost unisex candy ish fragrance,I love it though, I like boss bottled and this was only 10$ at ROSS!!

Love it! Comforting and spicy. Longevity is limited, but it's still worth it. The bottle cap will fall apart after you touch it, but the staff inside is goooooood!

I just sprayed one spray of Boss Bottled (purchased in 1999) on my left hand a a spray of this (purchased Jan2016) on my right. Boss Bottled's opening is near identical to Tattoo. About 20mins later Tattoo becomes slightly sweeter. At the same time Boss comes on slightly greener with a soft cinnamon in the background. An hour in Boss is sitting sharper and fresher (green, and fruity). Tattoo is sitting at a more goramand profile. The bases are super similar with a fresh clean musky vanilla. Yeah, they are different. But not by much. The vintage Boss wins hands down on longevity and versatility of seasonal wear, but Tattoo wins on price and versatility on time of day. These two fall classic scents are fantastic and fantastically similar. Boss just barely fresher, Tattoo creamier and warmer. I have many times confused these two on people I've encountered.

Got a 3.4oz. for $10.00, can't go wrong with that!. My bottle is the Aramis type, with a bigger cap, not the blue one with the Kasuya Mishima from Tekken guy (LOL). Don't know why, but this reminds me one of my old time favorites, Lagerfeld JAKO. Now, in reality, it has been a long time since I had that one, but still, this one brings the memories back, specially the sweet opening of this one. After some time, Tatoo becomes a very green Tobacco scent, a very different thing from JAKO (or from what I can remember). Sillage is impressive for the first 2 hours, and longevity is about 7 hours on my skin. Again, for $10.00, you can't go wrong.

When you want something that walks over and says "hey, what's up?" in a normal voice rather than screaming "LOOK AT ME!" this might be for your consideration. I could wear this even on days where I feel like not wearing a smell and would be happy about it. Has the citrus with touch of light tobacco, Amber, and just enough of a green note to keep the sweet from cloying. I do not get the ice cream references. Only problem is the longevity is crap, but what do you want for the price!? All around decent stuff. Goes to show "Fresh" does not have to =AQUA.

smells really good. The amber is obviously the strongest note, making it sweet but not gourmand sweet. This kind of reminds me of midnight in paris by van cleef but only in that it is sweet mixed with light/floral/ green. They dont smell the same by any means, just have similarities. I also got this for $10 and it is definitely worth it. My advice is pick this up if you see it at marshalls or any discount store because there is a lot of similar fragrances (smell and quality) for quadruple the amount of money.

Mike Germain did well with this one. The overall scent is really nice but the longevity is 3-4 hrs max. But what helps is the bargain price at Ross for 10 bucks which is great. Nice addition to the collection.

Michel Germain Tattoo got rebottled at least twice in this formulation (there is a newer Michel Germain Tattoo too with a far different note breakdown and a bottle entirely different than others which aren't entirely drastically different from each other.) There is this super tacky and cheap looking bottle shown on the page. And mind you, I am not just saying it looks cheaply made, but rather that the fragrance looks like the used cars lot fragrance. There is also the bland square bottle that is used for Jean Marc Paris (a sub-brand for Michel Germain.) Then you also have a 2.5 oz bottle that looks like the old Bath & Body Works bottle. Like when Ocean and Noir first came out. It has a dragon tattoo. I own the latter. I am not sure why Tattoo either has a cheap or tacky presentation, if not both. Is it a way to red flag you for being cheap? I find that the open is very citric but has some spice. Jean Marc Paris' website lists a mix of bergamot, clementine, melon as their top notes and honestly, I think that the citrus notes are indeed there. I do not really notice melon but do feel the sage due to it smelling older. I think this is because you also have an undercurrent of the pepper from the mid seeping in and mixing with the spicy citrus and sage in the open. The mid is pepper with thyme and some green notes. Again, Jean Marc Paris' website lists a mix of African Geranium, French Petigrain and French Lavendar and I do get the rosy yet green geranium with a slight lavender along with it feeling peppery. The base is amber and oris root and honestly, I get a more vanillic spice with some musk so amber is there but not oris. Tattoo is somewhat nice and performs a good 4/5 hours. I think Tattoo Jungle Man which I do notice similarities to this is better in smell, uniqueness and performance. I also get some Boss Bottle and Adidas Victory League from it. That said, this is NOT an apple pie fragrance, just a similar spicy fragrance. I would say that unlike Tattoo Jungle Man, Tattoo gives off a cheap smelling vibe. I work with students who said CK One Shock smelt cheap, this is another scent I can see getting that reaction. Tattoo would work best for casual use in spring and fall daytime and nighttime. I think it isn't dense enough to work in winter like I said with Tattoo Jungle Man did. Like Tattoo Jungle Man, I suggest not wearing this dressed up or even on dates. It isn't due to the tacky bottle, just it has a bit of a cheap smell. As mentioned in the Tattoo Jungle Man review I just did, this is in the $14.99 for 100ml pricepoint. I think I paid 8.99 or 9.99 for 75ml. I honestly wouldn't pay more. I see what this goes for on eBay and honestly scratch my head at the prices I see. Who pays that much for this cheap smelling fragrance with cheap and tacky packaing? Is it bad cheap, no. I've honestly smelt worse. That said, I've smelt much better, even from this same house (Tattoo Jungle Man and also Sexy Secret Noir.) The best I can give Michel Germain Tattoo is 6.7 out of 10. It smelt good to great fresh from the cap, but as it sits on your skin, it is a bit less good. I know I will not get it again.

I bought this mess at Ross and so help me it's priced $5 a bottle when it isn't worth the space it is taking up. It may suit a preteen. But if they're like me and wear stuff that is close to $80 a bottle AT MINIMUM they will hate the quality. NO longevity or projection. Trust me, it's cheap for a reason. Also, when I opened the package the first thing that happened was the lid broke (because it was cheap plastic) and the bottle was leaking. I'm sticking to Spicebomb. If I had to recommend ANYTHING for men, I'd recommend the original Sèxūal Pour Homme other than that NOTHING.

This stuff smells great for about 10-15 minutes, then it disappears FAST. Warm, sweet and spicy, but absolutely useless because the performance is terrible. Bottle is super cheap, sprayer is bad, just pass on it. You'll need 20+ sprays to make it last or project past an hour.

I've got the plain bottle, not the one pictured here. I get little of the herbal/green elements and instead have to agree with those who say this is the poor man's Pure Malt (or whatever they said, exactly). There's a hint of tobacco in the base but this is most like an A*Men type base, though without any strong patchouli. If you want whiskey, though, you won't find it here (this is closest to Pure Havane, IMO, at least at one stage in its development; this one is linear, by contrast). I don't get much other than the amber, other than how the green/herbal notes serve to sort of cut the sweet and syrupy qualities. It does smell nice, with the slightest touch of a "synthetic" candy quality. Certainly if you can get it cheap and want something like this it's likely you'll be satisfied, just don't expect niche quality here (the amber isn't super heavy). It's possible the other bottle represents a different fragrance, for all I know (the one you see above). Overall, this is rather simple but it's also effective, and longevity/projection are very good. UPDATE: Using three full sprays to the chest, there is a strong orange type citrus, which I like because it's soft yet persistent. I now get the comparisons to Boss Bottles (and similar scents) such as Adidas Victory League, but I find Tattoo to be a big step up, whether that is due to superior composition or something else I certainly can't say for sure. There is also good dynamism here, which I may have missed by using less than 3 sprays.

Also picked this up at a Ross for $10. As always, been wearing it for about an hour or two....i'm so confused by this scent. my 18th fragrance, and not one fragrance in my collection smells anything like it.....i really dont know what to think, i mean i like it, i think, but idk. i hope the girlfriend likes it though, also picked up Sexual Sugar which i absolutely love(got that last month. Maybe this one will open my eyes in the future, def not taking it back however :) Update: 7-23-12 After wearing this for two days, i can honestly say that while the fragrance is very nice, the longevity if terrible(i guess that what you get for 10bux) i sprayed it four times( five actually) before i went to work. 1-15minutes very strong up to my nose, i'd estimate about 8 feet. 15-30 minutes MAYBE 4 feet >1 hour two feet >4 hours inches after 4 hours i couldnt even smell it on myself, and i even sprayed my wrist for good measure. But to be honest im not sure id want to smell this on myself for any longer than that anyway. 6/10 from me, i'll continue to wear it though.

Blind bought this several months ago after reading the reviews here. Thought to myself: "$6.99? Even if its bad, at least it's cheap." First spray did not impress, I got a weird plastic odor, not too dissimilar to ELDO's Tom of Finland crossed with Ramon Monegal's Cherry Musk. Somewhat repulsed, I put the bottle back in the box and moved onto the others I blind bought the same day. Then, after a heavy night of drinking, I was rummaging around and found this again. I sprayed this on and found, what was actually very similar to my previous impressions but also, much more appealing this time. For me, this opens with a burst of Lavender (surprised its not in the note pyramid) once the basenotes appear, I get the gourmand plastic which is better now than what I originally tried. Longevity is mediocre, I get about three hours with very limited sillage and it sticks around for another few as a skin scent. Verdict? Cheap, synthetic, unpretentious and fun. This has unexpectedly made it into my fragrance rotation.

Blind bought the other day with 2 other Michel Germain fragrances Sexy Secret for men, and Deauville Bleu. 3 bottles for $30 total!!! Two 3.4 oz bottles and one 2.5 oz bottle. Money very well spent I'd say... I must have an later version of Tattoo tho, because my bottle looks nothing like what's depicted above... Plain clear squared bottle, with the lettering in gold on a black banner type thing on the front of the bottle. Hmmm... Smells relatively good, rather light however, sillage is average at best, longevity could be better IMO... But for 11 bucks at Ross, it was a safe buy....

The smell of "bad guys"? "Rebellious and passionate"? WHAT? This is a light gourmand. It smells like an ice cream cone. Ever been to a shopping mall and walked past an ice cream stand, like Baskin Robbins or Coldstone Creamery? Yeah, well, Tattoo replicates that smell quite well. Surprisingly, this sweet amber/tonka affair doesn't annoy me like other gourmands do, so if you're looking for a cheap, sugary vanilla-based gourmand, this is the one for you. *As far as fragrance-based comparisons, think Joop! Jump or Le Male and you'll sort of be in the same area.*

*Sniffing the test paper strip* Hmmm... I am not sure what to think of it. It has some freshness from sharp citrus and green note, but it also smells old and artificial; probably from plasticky herbs or it's expired?! This is like an old school cologne that is not quite fit in. It may smell better after it settles on skin, but I am not going to wait around and try it. This is a no go for me. Next!

Generically sweet and fresh, with typical longevity and performance. The biggest advantage is its price; I got my 100 ml bottle for less than 9 US dollars. This fragrance, to me, is a total "last resort" scent for when I really don't want to waste any sprays of a nice fragrance. Sometimes I use this for running an errand, or as a deodorant when I'm not feeling like applying real deodorant. Yeah.

Also picked this up on a whim. Was intrigued by the white tobacco note. This fragrance was a real surprise. The first day I wore it, I got several compliments from people. It's become one of my go-to fragrances. I also picked it up for $10, and I may grab another bottle next time I see one. For the price you can't beat it.

This smells very much like a mix of the original Sexual by Michel Germain plus Polo Sport by Ralph Lauren. I can't say that I dislike it but I'm also not sure that I do like it. Is strong and lasts a long time. Can be found cheaply so for the right person, it will definitely be the best bang for your buck.

I don't get the comparison to Boss Bottled. It does not have the apple pie thing going on. Does have the caramel sugary thing. More MJ Legend than anything else. A simplistic gourmand that smells good.

The best 10bucks I ever spent on have over 40 bottles and I would put this in my top 8 hands down, if u like boss bottle and a hint of ysl buy it.sent.8 sillage 3hrs last. 6 to 7 hr

Blind buy. Very cheap cologne a bought for $10. It really does smell good but sillage and longevity is poor. Could've left this one on the shelf.

Reminds me of Boss Bottled. Not nearly as good in terms of quality but it does good for the price. I got it for less than $10...

Curve Soul turned down: less candy. It's gone after 4 hours, but you might actually miss it. Decent for 12$ CAD.

Good overall sweet fragrance. Nice hint of tobacco with plenty of amber. Sells for cheap at winners/marshals.
