Scent of Fail 3

i have always wanted to go the flea market and buy 25 random bottles of fragrances and pour them all together. now, with #3, i am saved the effort. it would be a joke and/or the height of pretense to try to tease out olfactory notes. i get sweet and spicey as the mood. definitely not french or italian sophisitcated old school. certainly, not crisp and minimalist. the aleatory creation of art depends on luck. the appreciation of #3 depends on the wearer's willingness to disregard traditional notions and step away from comforting smells. not to say the fragrance(s)is (are) horrifyingly ugly, but rather requiring the ability to go with the flow in the true sense. 27 oct 2020, second full day of wearing. my nose is getting used to the kaleidoscope which rewards with a thing of strange beauty, i may not understand it but i actually like it. 2 feb 2020, bright cold sunshine outside. in here, listening to bill evans, "cool" jazz. the clear sharpness is vaguely reminiscent of les jeux sont faits. fail3 works. a little bit of this, a little bit of that. weird and wonderful as i let the day and the scents sort themselves out. july 2022. in love. tried contacting perfumer to see if there are any bottles hidden away. unfortunately, he seems too busy to respond. ah, artists!

Okay I finally built up the courage to wear this on skin today... So in the opening it really does just smell of paint. Deeply unpleasant chemical sludge smell. However once that dies down after a few minutes, you start to smell all of the different materials start to unravel. Within about 10-15 minutes it has this citrus and warm gourmand smell almost reminiscent of Lush Chelsea Morning. After an hour it’s a cherry castoreum smell. After a couple of hours the cherry starts to go and is replaced by the smell of coffee mixed with a blend of castoreum and other animal-like musks. After a few hours it smells heavily of cumin and costus and actually at this point it has similarities to Marlou’s Ambilux. It's still very much something to do a spritz on me once in a blue moon just to smell how it changes so much, but ultimately because this is not something designed to smell a certain way it's more an exercise in experiencing how different ingredients dissipate at different rates than anything else.
