Milano Cento For Him

Got a sample of this with a bottle I bought from a discounter over a year ago and, quite frankly, I had never bothered to give it a try until today, for some reason. I did smell the atomizer and just wasn't really compelled, at the time. The logo and booklet that came with the sample just has that very mid-forties, somewhat clichéd Italian man vibe to it, so perhaps this might have been a factor in me not being overly eager to try it and eventually forgetting about it. Well I'm wearing it right now, and have been for several hours and it's actually really good! Milano Cento Him EDP clearly has an old school cologne, barbershop scent vibe, but it is actually very enjoyable, with a beautiful fresh citrusy opening with petitgrain adding a beautiful and classy floral touch that subtly arises with a hint of lavender, alongside fresh spicy notes of rosemary, basil and clary sage. It'll give you the feeling of getting straight out of the barbershop in Italy and sitting outside on the patio of a nice restaurant in the middle of some Italian countryside on a sunny day, catching whiffs from nearby lush gardens of fresh herbs. It has a woody base that is overall pretty well balanced with cinnamon and clove notes, but oddly enough, once it dries down, all of it ends up blending into what comes off as a very aromatic, herbal, soothing soapy scent. Very clean, very fresh, yet very masculine in a classic cologne type of way. That ending is addictive, I could shower myself in this cologne all day just to get to that well-rounded herbal soapy ending again. It could be that my expectations were low, but I am very pleasantly surprised with Milano Cento Him. I am also getting a pretty decent performance (I have a sample of the EDP version). I've been wearing it for five hours now, and although it's mostly a skin scent, it's still very present and smells incredibly clean and soapy. This is definitely for a more mature crowd, though. As a man in his mid-thirties, I may be a bit young to wear that and truly pull it off, although once it has dried down, it feels like a man of any age could probably wear this. I am surprised that fragrance aficionados are not mentioning this one more. Seems like it flew under the radar. Nice little overlooked scent, with a pretty familiar formula that is tremendously well executed. In a few words: Fresh spicy, aromatic old school cologne, barbershop type of scent that eventually turns into an incredibly pleasant, soapy skin scent. Pros: Beautiful accords of fresh spices and citrusy notes. Smooth dry down into a stellar soapy and clean, addictive smell. Cons: Formula is not particularly original. Clearly better suited for men 35 and older. Overall rating (out of five stars): ★★★★

Milano Cento is little late to the mossy/lavender/sandalwood party...at least 40 years late, but oh well, at least it's arrived. But what an arrival! This is a great quality traditional gentleman's fragrance featuring the above mentioned notes with an all-star supporting cast of aromatics and patchouli. Clove and cinnamon give a touch of spiciness and a feint toward sweetness without ever getting there. You'd have to be an appreciator of old school scents to enjoy MC, but if you are, this one is very good. It reminds me very much of Lancetti Monsieur with just a touch of mild funk that blends so well with the bitter citrus and aromatics. The dry down is warm and delightful. It seems anachronistic given it is a 2016 release. No matter, a great scent is a great scent, and MC is just that.

For fear of being repetitive, this is BARBERSHOP! Clean and fresh, very much a shaving cream vibe. Well blended, I purchased the EDT version, lasts for a good 6 hours, with fair to moderate projection. Just a good clean scent, masculine, but not too bold that it would be challenging to wear. I honestly have yet to find anything that has that barbershop shave cream note we all hear about until now. Really enjoy this one, but I consider it a casual scent, made for days off and running errands. Best suited to the cooler weather of the spring and fall, possibly winter depending on where you are and how cold it actually gets. Great purchase, worth the 50 dollars CDN I spent, thirty years old and up I suspect would suit this scent profile.

This juice is outstanding! Great performance in regards to longevity and projection. I get 10 hours minimum and projection is a constant armlength bubble for 6 hours before becoming a strong skin scent for at least 4 hours. In the first 1 hour or 2 of the fragrance it's an upscale version Drakkar Noir, which I love. After that this reminds me of Prada Amber Pour Homme in that it smells like a $200 bar of soap. Amber Pour Homme is feminine and I felt uncomfortable wearing it and I had to get rid of it, but Milano Cento is the masculine version of that type of scent and it's a major go for me. Highly recommended and glad to have it in my collection.

Start out by saying this is a fantastic fragrance. Leaning barbershop / fougere without smelling old or dated. Maybe it's the cinnamon that gives it a modern twist. Saying that I think it's for a more mature individual that likes older masculine fragrances. Very well blended. It projects well the first hour or two then quickly fades on my skin. Really wish it lasted longer. I own the edt but heard the edp was recently released. A must buy if I can find it for sale in the US. I have received compliments with this and people around me seem to like it.

I got a sample of this (the EDP version) with an order from Lucky Scent and this is fantastic! I got a sample of this, Fougere Royale and Invasion Barbare and this was definitely my favorite. And the price of Milano Cento is way better than the other two fragrances. Full bottle worthy for me. I'm curious what the EDT smells like. Update: I bought a bottle of the EDT. I love it! The price is very reasonable too.

A charming fougère that features one of the most underrated of notes, petitgrain, amplified with juicy bergamot, lemon, and lavender. The underlying base notes of sandalwood, cinnamon, and clove make the whole thing reminiscent of the still green but fading scents of an early autumn walk through the woods. Plus, it's affordable. A sunny and refreshing September day, liquefied.

This is for you if you love unadulterated lemon citrus in a masculine respectable powerhouse - talking about the EDP version. Very much reminds me of Houbigant Duc D’Vervins L’Extreme minus the orange blossom and syrupiness. Just add a touch of dry basil, clary sage and rosemary and you have a great refreshing benchmark citrus ala Vervins L’Extreme and Dior Eau Sauvage...

This is so good. So seriously refined. Very old school gentleman's scent. The opening when you spray it on is a burst of spice and lemon. And from there the dry down moves to a totally different scent. Its the base notes that make this and the quality of the perfume. Bottle is very elegant too. This is perfect for a sunny day or when you need a mood lift

Wearing a second bottle of this today. I forgot about this scent. Ridiculous masculinity and the lemon I was after isn't that fresh citrusy but this reassuring gentleman type. It lasts for quite a while too. It's a man's man type of scent and although I don't think I like it as much as I used to, I'd still say it's a great one for casual summer wear

Classic, classy, masculine power fougere a la Azzaro pour Homme et al. Love it! It resembles some of those classic power fougeres but is also unique and very addictive. Note it is very bitter and can be therefore polarizing, a bit like Fougere Platine from TF. I do get a vibe of Bracken Man, which is my all time favorite scents.

For those who love zesty fougeres. The EDT a jammier version of the current YSL Jazz, the EDP a jammier version of the EDT. I prefer the EDT, which despite being lighter, 'carries' better in the air, and is somewhat sweeter. Classy and a pleasure to wear. Performance is good. 5/5

good barber shop bang for the buck fragrance. I went on a buying binge of Aromatic Scents lately. This falls right in the middle. Better than some, not better than others. I'm glad to have it for $30 price tag

A hidden gem. This is everything a man should smell like. I have the edp version and it's a star; well worth the money.

I also noticed that this is currently sold out. Hopefully it's just temporary and not discontinued.

Well, Milano Cento Him surprised me. I was expecting more of a straightforward "barbershop" Fougere similar to a Rive Gauche Pour Homme, Penhaligon Sartorial, Tom Ford Fougere D'Argent, Davidoff Zino, Azzaro Pour Homme, etc. Its not quite that. Some are saying Milano Cento Him is similar to Chanel Platinum Egoiste, and I can see why. But I think the Milano Cento is much closer to Lalique L'Insoumis. Each have a Fougere-like backbone but throw a curve with some unique aromatic near-astringency. I think I like L'Insoumis a bit more than Milano Cento Him. I'm wearing the Milano Cento now and I sprayed my L'Insoumis on test card for comparison. The Milano Cento is a pretty weak performer. I applied about 10 sprays on skin and clothes. The Lalique is a better performer. L'Insoumis has a pretty strong sweet sort of lemon pie accord. It's almost slightly gourmand-fougere, even though the note structure may not support that classification. Not so Milano Cento Him. In addition to MC Him and Lalique L'Insoumis, there is a bit of a similar astringency in MDCI Invasion Barbare, probably in large part caused by the violet note in that frag. All three have that "barbershop" Fougere backbone, and where Invasion Barbare is just a bit astringent but closest to classic barbershop fougere, Milano Cento Him is yet a bit more astringent than Invasion Barbare, and L'Insoumis still more astringent than the other two. The "astringency" being that aromatic curve away from classic barbershop Fougere, caused by varying note combinations for each. Interesting that Lalique L'Insoumis has a Fragrantica rating below 4.0, where as Milano Cento Him's rating is well over 4.0. I would reverse the two, but raise Milano Cento to just over 4.0. MC Him about 4.10 and L'Insoumis about 4.20. It's better to my nose in both scent profile and performance. All in all I like Milano Cento Him, but I'm surprised at it's scent profile, disappointed in its performance, and just a little disappointed overall. It is a good and unique addition to my "barbershop" Fougere collection.

Milano Cento, EDT This is an elegant and yet casual fragrance. Citrus and spicy opening reminds me a bit of At the Barbers. The dry down has ATB and Platinum Egoiste elements. I’m not saying Milano smells a lot like the two previously mentioned fragrances, but merely stating there are similarities. I am surprised oak moss is not listed here as a note. This one has that patchouli and lavender combo making it slightly powdery. Projection is strong off my skin so easy on the sprays when you first try it. If you do not like cloves, you might want to sample, and not blind buy like me. This one is good for all four seasons and best as a daytime scent. I have given Milano Cento only three days of wear. It’s not my favorite barbershop fragrance, but it is a damn good one. If I start to like Milano more or less with time, I will update.

Suave, suave, suave, from top to bottom. An even-keeled balance of sweetly-minty aromatics; warm, balsamic spice; and soft, papery wood. The spiciness here is very smooth, with none of the sharp, punch-in-the-nose heat that clove sometimes has. The midnotes are powdery-sweet and vaguely floral—a watercolor wash over the whole composition. It's smoothly masculine; good-tempered and well-mannered. Handsome verging on elegant. I'm not usually a fan of woody aromatics. They tend to lose their dimensionality and dry down papery and flat on me very quickly. So I appreciate the way Milano Cento's slightly zesty greenness lingers well into the drydown, and I love the slightly balsamic vein that seems to run throughout. For a nothing brand with only one fragrance and very little buzz, this is a hidden gem.

This one is nice. I agree, with DrNDJas, as this has similarities to Lancetti Monsieur, but only in the opening. Milano Cento is brighter, more citrusy, and airier. The dry down becomes much spicier, very cinnamon heavy, with a hint of cloves and sandalwood rounding off things nicely. The difference right off the bat is that the Lancetti has a prominent rosewood and labdanum accord, which makes it smell more old fashioned. The Lancetti is also dustier and smokier as it dries down. While the Milano begins reminding me of Zegna Pour Homme, or even the dry down of new Z14 with all that cinammon. Overall, it's a nice fragrance but I prefer Monsieur.

There are two concentrations of Milano Cento. EdT is leaning more towards fougere/barbershop aromatics. Reminds me a bit of Ralph Lauren’s Safari. Strong lavender smell, maybe a bit old-school for younger noses. The EdP is even stronger and longlasting, however moves more into oriental territory with cinnamon and sandalwoods dominating the drydown. Reminds me Boucheron Jaipur, just less beastly. Overall beautiful composition for affordable price, so if you are a fan of aromatic fragrances, you should give it a go. For me it is not unique enough to deserve a full bottle.

I have the EDT and it’s a classic barbershop fragrance - just beautiful. Green leaves, fresh citrus, crisp aromatics, dry herbs, rich spices, elegant resins and a warm blanket of classic musks. There is an incredible oakmoss in this which has that amazing vintage vibe and cuts a dashing stroke of leather. Oakmoss is also an excellent fixative, which might explain the good longevity I get from this. Milano Cento Him makes me think of pinstripes, visits to the barber, silver cufflinks and a whisky after work. A gentlemen’s classic.

Been a while since I got this, just revisting. I got the EDP and the EDT but you really don't need both they are quite close to each other. I'd say the EDP is the more rounded of the two and not as fresh citrusy but it's very close between them after the first 15 minutes or so. One of the best modern takes on the old shool "aromatic fougere" to me. That old school cool that you might associate with a well suited gentleman but with a more modern base with the patchouli and some sweetness. Price isn't so bad either.

Blind buy after seeing a few youtubers i like go on about this one. If im honest its a bit of a disappointment, i do like the fragrance. Sandlewood with a hint of lavender and some citrus in there, it is nice but its just so weak. Performance is right around 6 hours and its just a skin scent right from the start zero sillage. I dont want a beast mode fragrance but i want to be able to enjoy my fragrances without having to bury my nose into my arm to pick it up.

This one is quite interesting. I have the EDT, and it smells very similar to the EDP, with one benefit: it's more airy than the EDP. The addition of the cloves gives it an unusual character and the airy nature doesn't make the cloves too overwhelming. Needless to say I prefer the EDT. A solid fragrance for the price!

Wears like the last days of summer. Warm and golden from top to bottom with a sharp opening, spicy middle, and musky, soft base. Makes me think of a masculine 50-something man in Milan (Italy) with a classic look and rugged charm.

Incredible opening. Unfortunately, it's ruined by the heavy dose of cloves which, in combination with the other notes, results in a cacophony of fragrance. Could've been a masterpiece if not for the excessive spices. What a shame.

Crisp, Clean and Composed fragrance. Excellent price value which smells like niche fragrance. Only issue is performance which is disappointed. Overall Great scent for a mature person.

This one just isn’t for me, and sadly I’m finding it difficult to wear these types of fragrances. This is definitely more of an old school aromatic fougere/barbershop style. I’ll admit it is blended really well and it smells very high quality but there’s a note in the dry-down that just doesn’t go well with my chemistry. I get a little bit of a dirty forest floor musty vibe in the dry down backed by a spicy barbershop scent. It’s just not for me. I will say that if you like this particular style then you might really love this, but unfortunately for me it just doesn’t work.

I got it as a part of a fragrance bundle so it was kind of for free ... I quite like the scent profile but unfortunately it does not last on me at all . Not even 60 minutes . I can appreciate some short lived fragrances if they are unique enough, could be a good dumb reach if it lasted but as it is , but I don’t think this one is a keeper for me

There's something about this one I just couldn't enjoy. My experience, wore it twice to give it a chance to grow on me but too much Cinnamon/Clove & Petitgrain. Based on the notes, this wasn't what I expected. I noticed other reviewers comparing it to Houbigant's Duc de Vervins & Fougere Royal (2010), I don't get those comparisons, outside of some shared listed notes those are different animals. I know those 2 Houbigant fragrances very well, especially the Duke. Well, at least I satisfied the curiosity I'd had for so long about this fragrance.

I've been wearing Fougere Royale today and am testing Milano Cento on one hand - these don't remind me of each other at all. MC has a real sourness from the lemons - I actually don't think I've ever smelled such sourness from lemons in a fragrance at all, and while it's definitely a change from the usual cleaning product effect, I'm not sure that it smells good, per se. Of course the lemon top notes burn off eventually, but then it's just a strange mustiness. I prefer the far dry down, but at that point it's hard to even detect, so 🤷.

I sampled the EDP with a drop on each wrist, and this BEAST quickly took over the whole room. I fled down a corridor to buy a coffee, and I felt like a motorboat leaving a silliage wake of scent. On my return, down the same corridor, I could not tell if I was smelling myself or my prior scent trail. With regard to the sent itself: Very old fashioned, mature, ex-military, European-ish. The smell is over-powering, and difficult to describe further because of that quality. I would recommend avoiding this fragrance, I did not enjoy it.

It has a brief barbershop opening (rosemary, bergamot, lavender aldehydes) but that quickly recedes (2 minutes), leaving behind a very warm sandalwood, clove and cinnamon base that lasts 3-4 hours. Petitgrain and clary sage give a slightly bitter woody citrus backbone in the first hour. More of a winter scent that one might think.

One of the great barbershop openings, bright, bracing, invigorating. But as it dries down it gets a bitter and acrid quality that makes it difficult to wear. Perhaps its the clove, herbs or petitgrain or all 3 coming together. I dont get much note definition by this stage to be able to say.

I agree with Leon below, the fragrance (EDP) turns after the first five minutes and something seems to go sour. Also performance is very faint, about the same as Gravitas. But the opening is amazing so it'd be great if they could resolve quality issues.

Holy Toledo! It's Milano Cento HIM. The EDT hits all the marks without trying to challenge, shock, or make waves. The development is truly of the classic realm, opening with a handsome and well-executed bergamot and citrus, which in time cross-fades into the heart of sheer, round lavender (so lovely) and aqueous, aromatic clary sage, with hints of other aromatic herbs. There are no sharp edges detected by the nose whatsoever, it is remarkable. A naturalism is really evident as well. Often, my nose will discern fixatives and other aromachems that flesh out a composition but sort of create a bit of synthetic dissonance to my nose, which isn't necessarily awful, but can get a bit disappointing when smelled over again on modern releases. It is not evident here. As it continues to dry down, the cinnamon, not sweet, but rather, the raw, woody, spicy bark comes into 'view,' so to speak. This is where Milano Cento really is compelling: it reveals a musk accord that is profoundly good. It is, for lack of a better description, dimensional, where the patchouli, sandalwood, and spices radiate more so than simmer: ingenious. So, yeah, it's pretty damn great, and a real powerhouse in the summer heat...

Classic old school fragrance for clove fans. If you get a poor reaction from strong clove in fragrances (eugenol) stay the hell away from this one. If you love heavy clove fragrances and/or proudly barbershop fragrances (as in singing in a quartet with a handlebar mustache in a straw boater hat), do try this one out. I agree with schiappapi below that this is VERY similar to Egoist Platinum - I find this more herbal/spicy and less floral (especially on the sage which I have a lot more trouble finding in Platinum next to the Carnation) which makes this one a better fit for me, but they are very, very close. Props to Mr. Smelly for his YouTube review of this one.

I bought this from Luckyscent on the strength of great online reviews, it was a blind buy but given the note breakdown I thought there was very little risk. I am happy with the purchase. The fragrance is very unique but does evoke many other scents. Milano Cento has a similar vibe to what I really love about Zino Davidoff, with none of the stuff I do not like. So, think of a fresh, modern Zino. Because longevity is only moderate at best on the edt...I tended to overspray a bit, and that was a mistake. By going a little bit easier on the trigger this is becoming one of my favorite uplifting, feel good scents.

Beautiful Fougere - Barbershop quintessential Smells like dried talc on the neck brush after a haircut with a dry shaving note lingering around - a mix of a few come to mind - Zino, Platiunum Egoiste and Eternity. but certain notes are a lot smoother and rounded. This smells like walking into the barbers with the aroma of dried Johnson’s talc and shaving products. Also a small hint of sudocrem from the lavender, very faint but something I’ve noticed. Smells much higher quality than the fragrances I’ve listed above. For £30 I think this is a must have - great story behind this one too.

A bracing, crisp, fresh, green, mossy fern like fougere Crushed herbs, a tiny bit soapy with a clean feel I would say the main accord is “bitter green mossy” However if I put my nose up close I get something spicy, sweet, & musky This does not smell like Fougere Royale to me, this stands on its own without a need for comparison. 4-5 sprays, medium strong projection lasts all day

A modernized classic , woody citrusy spicy lavender , to me it’s a casual and a relaxed scent, it has some sourness but it’s good with me, the EDT fresher, but the EDP of course performs a bit more and slightly denser with no major differences.very nice. Elegant bottle but the atomizer not that good but gets the job done.

When I sprayed Milano Cento on a card, I thought I was really going to like it. It smelled classic, fresh, and bracingly herbal. Unfortunately, on my skin the citruses are a little too sour, and the spices are a little too Christmas-y. Not a bad scent at all, but not one that suits me.

Lovely and bracing, herbal, spicy and bright, at first. I was also initially swayed by the lovely family story behind this. The dry down comes too swiftly for me and is reminiscent of the agrestic undergrowth of L’Eau De Campagne.

The "smells like" is accurate for once. Very close to Royale Houbigant. Both are unique enough to be superb signature scents for spring and summer. Don't be afraid to go against the status quo. Fuck what's popular. Fuck trends.

This sounds good to me. Based on comments below, it sounds like the EDT and EDP are a bit different. Which one should I get? Any opinions/suggestions are much appreciated, thanks

Looks like this may have been discontinued, as it is not available anywhere. But the description sounds very similar to Ajmal Cento. Has anyone tried both of these?
