Milano Fragranze Diurno’s description of “a timeless fougere with a subtle hint of amaretto” feels highly accurate, the mix featuring the amaretto itself, then lavender, geranium, sage, and cedar. So it has the spicy/herbal/woody center with the fougere’s signature, lavender, and then amaretto, which feels like the most substantial single note, to make the fragrance into something different and new. It’s instantly impression-making, with some element of freshness and a classic fougere that make it seem universal, but at the same with an idiosyncratic amaretto note that’s bound to delight some (like me) though perhaps confound others who are less keen on the almond liqueur, despite the abundant Disaronno TV ads of the 2000s. For me, Diurno an instant love, the sharp/boozy/sweet aspect of the amaretto being a playful contrast to the more centered and traditional fougere elements, not quite opposites at play, but still a neat blend of elements that I hadn’t previously considered as eligible companions. I’m really impressed with it, as it’s among my favorites I’ve tried of the house to this point. My impression of the Milano Fragranze line is that it’s a little more accessible than the perhaps more artistic Masque Milano line that preceded it, but more to come on that as I continue to sample the blues, as I’m calling them. Like the rest of the Milano Fragranze line, Diurno is very reasonably priced at $135 for 100ml, in EDP concentration, and is sold in the US at beloved boutiques like my own local Perfumology. 8 out of 10

This is heaven, the use off amaretto and the Clash between old and new, Ive newer been a major fougere fan cause i find the genre a bit boring and remind me off old people and the mortality off man... 👀... Hrrhmm! But this is a gem when looking for a clean smelling man scent, im not saying only men can wear it but it does smell like the classic male scents from olden times gone by. But it never gets to heavy on the soap or geranium,It keeps a light body and just smell off high grade ingredients. Iff your looking for a "fresh" take on the fougere this is for you. Iff you like boring super linear scents that smell like wunderbaum in a wett pine forest and a bucket off oakmoss keep on walking buddy. Also Iff you like playful fougeres like 1725, beau de jour, at the barbers💦 you might like this alot just like me

Diurno is the first fragrance I have tried from the Milano Fragranze house. It's released as a fougere. The scent is very unique, which to me is a modern interpretation of the classic Fougere. The important accord here is the Amaretto note, which makes the fragrance unique with and almondy, fruity, and slightly sweet twist. I count this as a boozy fragrance, if you are a fan of this category, this would be an interesting fragrance. The contrast between herbal freshness and warm-sweet facets is interesting. It's not a very sharp herbal or very soapy fragrance like many of the Fougere ones. The aromatic, sharp edges of the herbal notes are softened with musk and amaretto. Performance is good with moderate sillage. A very wise and intresting signature scent! 8/10

This is weird in a very good way. The first hour it’s definitely unisex or even a bit more masculine, due to the lavender in the top and fir balsem and vetiver in the base (which are not listed here). Then it settles in a soft herbal soapy scent, however very one of a kind. It indeed reminds me of a spa or thermae. Sillage is about one armlength, which is quite strong for a soapy scent. Two sprays last the whole day!

Ok landshark321 you’re review stole the show! On me I didn’t get much fougere in fact if you wouldn’t have said it I wouldn’t of even known it was one. To me on first try it just smelled pretty sweet but fresh. I’m in love! This like most samples I went into blind and fell hard. This and panetone I’m loving. Definitely full bottle worthy and to know it’s available at perfumology is a heaven sent. So I thank you !

Wow! This might be my favorite from the house. It has a clean and elegant blue fragrance vibe, with the warmth of musk and amaretto. It smells like snowy Christmas Eve, and cozy blankets. Very creative scent.

One of my favorite fresh clean scents. In the same vein as Prada L'Homme but less in-your-face and also feels a bit more complex. It does smell like expensive soap like others have said.

Powdery lavender with cherry almond. Comes across extremly clean and well groomed. Compliment getter!

Xerjoff-40 Knots close friend. Fabulous fragrance. Summer ☀️ time. Refreshing

First of all, I really like this simple blue bottle with the daisy motif. The design is clean and minimal. The price is not especially high, €130 for 100 ml, but the quality is unexpectedly good. This brand comes from the Masque Milano system, so I will not go too far into that. Every fragrance in the collection serves one purpose, to express Milan through scent. For example, Galleria represents the elegance of Milan’s arcade and city center. Panettone refers to Milan’s Christmas dessert. Naviglio evokes the canal district and old laundry scenes. Basilica expresses religious space, incense, and architecture. Brera represents the art district. Piazza Affari points to the financial district. La Prima refers to the opening night at La Scala, and so on. This fragrance, Diurno, is about Milan’s old public baths. When I sprayed it, the first thing that came forward was a sweet note with an herbal edge. “That is amaretto,” the sales associate told me. She then spoke to me about Albergo Diurno Metropolitano “Venezia”, a Milanese daytime service center opened in 1926. It offered baths, barber services, beauty treatments, travel and typing services, and other practical urban functions. It represented a clean, useful, orderly side of everyday life in Milan. Only then did I understand why the fragrance smelled so natural. The lavender does not stand out on its own. It is blended into herbal musk and a little wood, almost like a clean background tone. At the first spray, what catches attention is actually the sweetness. The amaretto has a mild bitter sweet quality, a touch of nuttiness, and a faint trace of alcohol. But it is quickly wrapped in herbs, so the scent feels comfortable and never turns into a heavy gourmand. I had expected a public bath theme to smell very soapy, or to lean heavily into barbershop foam. Diurno does not go that way. Its cleanliness is softer, more like the faint scent left on skin after a shower, with a little crushed herbal greenery nearby. Sage and geranium add a fresh aromatic lift. Its appeal is very immediate. Lavender, herbs, amaretto, and white musk are blended together into something clean and gentle. Up close, you can smell the sweetness of amaretto. From a little distance, it becomes a soft layer of clean scent. It is very suitable for daytime and daily wear. Longevity is also quite good. After seven or eight hours, I can still smell it.

Actually, I thought it was just an ok scent, but different people described it differently and it made me think. And re-smell. And it actually got better! I doubt it can become one of my fav perfumes, but it's definitely not a usual scent and it needs your attention :) For me, it started with a simple cedar wood note, background sage (a bit similar to patchouli in this blend), and fresh floral front. Later—when your skin "burns" enough of the perfume (which's individual)—the sweet, slightly honey-toned smell starts to add to the wood note, making the whole composition warm. Even though it gets warmer, the fresh floral front is still prominent. Gradually, the scent loses its intensity and strips away some of its notes to become a composition that sits closer to your skin. It's a combination of warm woody and floral notes with a sirupy-honey background which is luckily not too sweet, but might feel as a too "high" note which can result in a synthetic undertone. Initially, I thought I would write "moderate longevity", but a day went by and I kept noticing a tender, slightly sweet woody-floral note, really close to the skin. So TECHNICALLY I'd say it's "eternal" because the overall experience lasted for about 22 hours or more... In my opinion, this perfume is blind buy safe if you generally like wood-floral combinations. Also, its juice is okay for light-coloured clothes.

The mention of amaretto made me think this would be a bit almondy with coumarin and maybe heliotropin and benzaldehyde in a sort of L’Homme Ideal way. But it doesn't seem to be, or if it is, it's closer to the darker richer ones rather than the piercing way in which it's done in Cool for example. Being a fougere, you'd expect coumarin. I'm not sure if I get much lavender. The name refers to the Albergo Diurno in the Porta Venezia region where there were public baths and barber shops, for a time when not every working class family had a bathroom at home. It's really nice, though. Leather isn't an official note but cedar and other stuff it has a sort of sweet leather richness. I don't know who's drinking amaretto in the morning in the barber shop before they go to work though. So maybe it does remind me a bit of La Nuit de l'Homme or L'Homme Idéal Extrême but more mature. Not that I have much experience with either of those. But yeah I like this one and it might be more "me" than the previous one (Naviglio). On the down side it may not have quite so much "presence" during the day.

Very nice amaretto scent that starts out smelling very fougere esque with touches of herbs, minty geranium, lavender, a woody dry cedar and clean musk. No oakmoss in the notes but I can sense there's an oakmoss ingredient, that I'm identifying as evernyl. Amaretto is sweet, and this is sweet too, but they cut through this sweetness so it doesn't come off like Feve Delicieuse, or a more dense gourmand perfume. The herbs wood, and geranium keep the sweet boozy almond in check. The rose comes through too but mixed with the amaretto it can be mistaken for cherry or berry in the air. Up close, it's easier to identify as rose. Not really what I think of when I think of a fougere fragrance, although the opening minute does smell that way. Overall a nice scent at a fair price on the gray market, but I need to be in a certain mood to wear it. -------------------------------------------------------- Scent 7.5/10 Performance 7.5/10

I was shouting "No! No! No!" when I sprayed this sample because it was THE most oldfashioned grandma's purse powdery sweetish cloud I've smelled. Then it settled into something completely unrelated. A gentle clean herbal *not soap* but maybe bodywash in a masculine form. I'd totally buy this because it is so well made and inoffensive that I believe almost anyone would appreciate it. Now, I'm not convinced this one will last more than an hour or so, I will have to report. It is too well mannered to be long lasting but I might be surprised.

This is definitely a fougere. VERY spicy opening, masculine-leaning unisex. I instantly get the lavender and musk, and that notable twang that most fragrances with geranium tend to have. As it dries down though, it turns cleaner, fresher; hints of almond come to fruition as it settles down into something really fresh and calm. Evocative to me of stepping out of a hotel shower after having spent the day at a forested lake. Not for my body, but a very nice smell none-the-less. I would probably enjoy this more on someone else in passing.

Diurno is like the lavender fujer version of the Xerjoff 40 knots. Of course, there is no salty aquatic feeling like 40 knots , but the woody notes in the background are very similar. Additionally, a sweet bozzy chord with amaretto is added at the opening. Cedar wood is also somewhat reminiscent of royal oud, but it is very different from the perfumes I mentioned. Very versatile daily fragrance. Nothing challenging or extraordinary .. The projection is weak after the first 3 hours and the longevity is very good..

The use of amaretto, sweet boozy almonds, is such an interesting and excellent choice in this perfume. It’s fresh, but warm, sweet, but herbal. Very aromatic and projects decently for about 3 hours. I’ve been wearing my sample as a bedtime scent and thoroughly enjoying it, though this perfume would be a good choice for anytime of day or night, for man or for a woman. There’s so many dualities with Diorno, it’s wearable art, lovely and grounding. I may find myself coming back to this one after I finish my sample.

Smells like expensive soap to me. Really good cologne if you specifically want to smell fresh and clean. Longevity isn't fantastic, but you'll get a solid 5-6 hours out of it. I wouldn't say it's something you should rush out to buy, but it's good for what it is. 7/10.

Smells clean, sweet, fresh... I'm sure I've got the whiff of this kind of scent somewhere but to experience it all again on my own skin is magical. It gave you the sense of a professional yet a caring person. It's not playful, it's serious yet smooth.

Smells like expensive lavender geranium soap with a subtle hint of amaretto. Very soapy, musky. This will smell great on my husband. Gives me old school barbershop vibes. A classic with a subtle niche twist.

Disappointing for me. I love the smell of amaretto and I love fougeres — so what gives? Well, it doesn’t smell like either of those things to me. It actually comes across sort of putrid at first. They blend together in a way that sort of smells like stomach bile mixed with lavender antiseptic. As it dries down a bit it becomes more tame. The sort of bile smell subsides and it less offensive to my nose. (Takes about two minutes to get here. What the hell was that opening?) But I still don’t see myself reaching for this over many other soapy fougeres I have smelled. Great idea, so-so execution. I recommend 1725 by Histoires or Sartorial by Penhaligon’s instead, if you want an almondy fougere. 6.7/10

Sharp, herbal floral, fairly light and warm, turning powdery and soapy. Not to my taste, and to my husband, well, he smelled Diurno on me and described it as "Laundry, cloves, and piss." Not keeping that sample.

Smells like bubble blowing liquid. Absolutely hate this. It’s completely offensive to my nose.

Herbal powdery nutty geranium soapy fougere Milano Fragranze is a house i felt little connection with due to the strange pale gold and blue bottle design, but quickly came to respect after smelling their stunning offering, Basilica, possibly one of the most unique incense fragrances of our time. In general their entire sample set is quite interesting and worth seeking out. Diurno is a mixed bag, the main elements here are an evocation of amaretto/bitter almond, presumably through tonka/coumarin and almondy heliotropin against harsher fresh bitter herbal and fresh soapy facets with the end goal of conjuring up a sweet and simultaneously intensely fresh fougere. I've worn my sample a few times now, there are days where I feel the idea comes through and others where it feels a bit too thin and transparent with the sweet and soapy facets feeling dissonant. I have yet to make my mind if i enjoy it or not. It definitely smells much better from a far than when digging your nose into the skin (as most fougeres do). I would have appreciated a more complex dry down, but perhaps it would ruin the already delicate amaretto accord.

This opens with a truly authentic amaretto note which is just gorgeous in the literal sense- makes me want to run to the bottle shop. Sadly this doesn’t last too long. It very soon becomes aromatic, the with notes of sage, lavender and geranium, the sage being dominant to my nose. This is generally quite a dry phase- very little sweetness. However it isn’t medicinal, but remains quite botanical. I would have liked a bit of sweetness here to make it less austere. As the previous reviewer said, once the jovial amaretto has passed, it does become quite ‘serious’. It gradually becomes more musky in the dry down and lasts a long time. Unisex and all seasons. Sillage medium. Edit. I blended this with Clean Provence and it went very well- adding a bit more lavender and muskiness and making it a bit more feminine. They go perfectly.

Starts really interesting with a strong and clear lavender, the almondy/alcoholic bitter-sweetness of amaretto and sour cedar woodiness, sauna steam, many things at once. I am personally reminded of soldering rosin, or some kind of unlit resin perhaps, something both medicinal and gourmand. In other words - great opening, which then becomes sweeter and finally pretty much fits the brief: a lavender fougere with a little twist, a modern exercise on a classic style. It is perfectly completed by the other part of the house's description though: "The Hygeia goddess, at the entrance of the Thermae, silently watching."

Other than Panettone. this perfume is the most interesting release from Milano Fragranze to me. The best part of this collection is that all the perfumes take on familiar genres of perfume and twist them a bit to make them unique. This starts of as a refreshing fougere built around a vivifying lavender and geranium accord with herbals notes that recall a thermal bath, but with the depth and warm sweetness of amaretto that is at once compelling and unique. These aren't hyper artistic fragrances that need to be dissected at length, but certainly are an easy choice to make when you want to smell good.

It’s an old school scent. Due to the all lavender and geranium, it creates an old spice and talc barbershop scent. There’s only a faint trail of amaretto. This stuff is nuclear it would clear out a barn smell. Last all day. As far as the overall scent, It’s ok but I expected a more of modern fresh aquatic smell. I am glad I didn’t blind buy.

Can a fragrance be clean and dirty at the same time? The answer is YES with Diurno. It's a sexy, cool, relaxed, skin in the hot sun kind of fragrance, totally unisex and effortlessly elegant. I love it. If you have a bottle for sale, PM me!

I've sampled three fragrances from this house and they were all a miss for me. This one in particular really upset my nostrils, and the combination of notes are similar to a grade school chorus... discombobulated.

I got this as a tester and to me the deep drydown has a resemblance to Royal Oud from Creed. Longivity is good and projection is moderate. I'm quite liking it :-)

Interesting opening, common musky dry down. 6/10
