Great Pleasure II

I really wanted to like this but unfortunately it doesn’t smell anything like GPH2. Like not even close. The box and bottle it comes in was genuinely nice and impressive though.

Honored to be the first reviewer of this fragrance. 😂 I bought this "clone" based off the bottle's similarity to GPHII and based on good reviews for other fragrances from this house. The bottle actually IS beautiful. Heavy glass, nice smooth wood cap. Box flips open too, and it matches the GPHII box's color scheme. I sprayed it and immediately thought "this is not GPHII at all... but it's something else I have in my collection." Took me about 5 minutes to realize it smells just like Le Labo's Baie 19. I promise I'm not trolling you. It's not a bad clone of it at all, either (besides longevity issues). Great Pleasure II just smells more fresh-blue and less high-quality patchouli than Baie 19. Not exactly sure why they put their Baie 19-smelling clone in a GPHII bottle/box/name knockoff, nor am I sure if the notes listed here are correct because I detect almost nothing in the pyramid except maybe violet leaves, but it definitely made me laugh like a good prank was played on me. If you're looking for an actual quality GPHII clone, FOMO Fraglover's Tea is great scent-wise, but it turns up the green aspect to 100 and also becomes annoyingly loud projection-wise versus the original. Parfums Vintage Imbue (and Imbue Intense) were both very close as well in my opinion, but to me, they lacked the smooth blend and addictive quality of the original. Penhaligon's Opus 1870 was also good, but was only close enough in the opening for me. HiM was a bit cheap smelling and lacked the fresh tea element of GHPII, and Grain de Poudre was great but not long-lasting or projecting enough. Manhattan was closest for me (but not Manhattan Midnight). Hope this helps!
