Velvet Collection Ambre Sun

Ambre Sun is apparently a dupe of the very expensive (for designer level) D&G Velvet Amber Sun. I haven't yet smelled the D&G fragrance so I cannot speak to Ambre Sun's accuracy to the original, but on its own, it's a smooth, woody frag. I never buy colognes from TJ Maxx, but I happened to come across this one there, fell in love with its scent, and bought it for a measly $15 -- over 20 times cheaper than the OG. A steal. So far, performance is not that strong, but I suspect this fragrance will develop and strengthen over time.

I got this at TK Maxx in the UK for a steal. It was love at first sniff. It is a warm amber vanilla woodsy fragrance. Perfectly unisex and so inviting. It feels of high quality and is quite addictive. Projection and longevity is moderate but worth trying.

Huge batch variation from this brand. I have smelled three different bottles that all smelled drastically different. Two smelled amazing, beautiful amber, vanilla, and wood, one smelled like fungal and astringent. Make sure if you are looking to pick up a bottle, you try it in person instead of buying online. I see this at TJ Maxx and Marshalls quite frequently. RVLbrands are hit or miss.

This is categorized as an Aromatic Spicy fragrance, and while I don't disagree, Ambre Sun reminds me of some Oriental fragrances. The closest I have to this is in my collection is Issey Miyake Noir Ambre. But Ambre Sun doesn't have the slightly animalic leather accord. It''s soft, spicy, and woody. Smells great and performs okay. Moderate longevity and projection. Great for the price.

Waxy amber vanilla carmex, like I'm kissing Estelle Getty on the set of Golden Girls. Wore it in New York and felt like Travis Bickle if he hadn't shaved his head and tried to kill a guy. Definite steal for the 13 clams I shelled out at TJ butt craxx
