Close Your Eyes, And... /Bois de Gaiac et Poire

Very creamy and lightly sweet, on me it is not soapy at all but powdery in the most gentle way. I don't smell a proper lipstick accord, it is more similar to a luxurious body cream smell then makeup. The freshness of the opening makes the blend of jasmine, rose and fruits smell very eatherial, then it gets more creamy, and the woody undertone is very milky. Heliotrope, almond and cinnamon give a light sweetness and they are blended to perfection with the floral notes (don't expect the classic marzipan like heliotrope, nothing intense), so the fragrance smells clean (not soapy), sweet, powdery and floral at the same time. I like it a lot, so much so that I could consider buying a bottle. It is vaguely a fragrance that I would put in to the "doll heads" category, and the way the rose note is manged here reminds me of another beautiful rose+wood fragrance which has the same emagical feel to it, Scandalwood by Heretic. Edit: the way the rose note evolves in the dry down is reminiscent of not only Scandalwood but also Shabby Chic by Giardini d Toscana. Don't be fooled by the accords listed, this is a type of rose worked in a modern way, very creamy, very clean and powdery but also fresh and crunchy in texture, it is not an old fashioned soapy/powder/lipsticky rose, I can surely say this is a lactonic rose. If you are instead looking for an old fashioned soapy and powdery rose with a lipstick feel and a sweet undercurrent then Boudoir Belle by Philly&Phill totally fits the criterions.

This is my first Miller et Bertaux, although the brand has been on my radar for years. Strangely, "Close your eyes and..." reminds me of a quieter, drier Volutes by Diptyque (eau de toilette), but with roses. There's little if any note overlap, but the same qualities I love about the one are also present in the other. Notes-wise, I mostly smell a lighter-colored, fruity, rose against a powdery, almost chalky, backdrop with a bare hint of spices, perhaps cinnamon and maybe cumin (not skanky, just slightly earthy). Other commenters mention incense and I think they are correct. I don't really detect guaiac wood, although it could be coming across as incense to me. Nor do I detect pear, almond, heliotrope, or any specific florals. The sillage is but a whisper. The longevity isn't great, either. But, I made a lowball offer to an ebay seller and got 100ml for $30US. So I don't mind overspraying several times a day. I seriously doubt that I could get "Close your eyes and..." for this good of a deal again, so I would probably never repurchase. But, I have very much been enjoying it for the past few weeks. Hope it lasts til winter, because I think it would shine more in the cooler and colder months.

Very sweet, but very mellow and gentle. Feels very natural, as all of the fragrances I've tried from this house. You can feel the wood, the almond and the pear, and they create a combination which is beautiful yet not at all fresh. A comforting scent that makes me want to cuddle :) longevity is good, sillage no too overpowering.

Hi frag fam I got 2 sample of this brand which one of them is this. Honestly talking, this is tooo faminine who old is above 30+ Mature and strong woman. When you spary it on your skin firstly its not at all unique although its like cheap sweet faminine fragrance but after 5 minutes it changed very nice and creamy and soft rose note comes and every second goes off its gonna be better and nice. After about 40 minuets you smell pear and vanilla and little almond too but the rose is still here too Wow so nice , i can smell some woods in the background too but so little (This is sweet fragrance base on roses) Very good balance and performance and so nice on women skin I love to smell it on women. Creamy, powdery, and sweet. There is quite a strong and realistic heliotrope scent throughout, which is complimented by a sweet rose note. The almond gives it almost a gourmand quality. To me the whole frag smells a bit like walking into a bakery filled with Turkish delights, almond croissants and pear tarts. It’s interesting, a bit too sweet for me but I could see this being a winner for others. More of a skin scent in terms of performance.

A bit sweet at the opening. I can't say I ever get the tang of citrus. Takes just a few minutes for the rose to really appear. It's not a spicy rose, more soft and mellow tempered by woods. Just a tinge of plastic fleets by yet still creamy. I do get the powder of the heliotrope in the drydown verging on cloying so apply lightly. Very feminine fragrance.

Beautiful floral bouquet on top of a lush soap bar. Classic, feminine, clean and safe for any occasion. It has practically no sillage, yet I’m still wrapped in a lovely scent bubble at the end of a long work day.

All pure rose and heliotrope with a frigid quality. Nothing dirty, earthy or warm about this perfume. Just a super high-frequency accord that's powdery, sweet and slightly creamy. The fruit notes are just barely there. It reminds me of Turkish delight and rose water. The White Witch from Narnia before she started melting. If you're looking for a sweet, hyperfeminine floral scent with a dream-like twist, this could be for you. For me it's just way too sweet. I'd suggest experimenting with layering because this seems elementary enough to pair with something.

What comes to mind for me is a classy, coiffed, matronly older woman. Very clean and conservative. Obviously any gender and any age can wear whatever they please, for me though this is someone's rich Nana. Even veering into hairspray territory. Its not unpleasant, I'm weird and actually like the smell of hairspray sometimes. Its coldly comforting somehow.

Fresh citruses and spices with some cold and quite sharp undertones (something soapy and musky). It smells quite vintage for my nose but nit in the nice way.

Close your eyes... aaaaaand it"s gone. Soft, sweet, weak, and bland.

Only recently I realized my olfactory sense can occasionally get very sensitive to harsh, too much citrusy or plain overwhelming top notes – sometimes ruining my experience with otherwise wonderful scents – and the encounter with delicately blended openings is not so ordinary: without a doubt the start of Bois de Gaiac et Poire feels totally lovable and dainty, with the juiciness of pear and mandarin conveying the right amount of crispy sweetness as a prelude to a delicious accord of rose and almond, melting into an heavenly embrace full of promises... From there on it seems like I am missing something, or something is hiding from me: the heliotrope just doesn’t come out properly on my skin, and I feel a bit underwhelmed by the lack of substance and evolution. I would have expected a more pronounced floral quality at this point, the powderness of heliotrope and/or or the sensuality of jasmine, but what I detect most here is a baby soap vibe. I almost don’t get any sillage from this EdP, and I wonder if it’s just me... I’ve worn my sample in different conditions of weather and situations, but it didn’t make any difference; at this point I wonder if spraying liberally from the bottle would help. The drydown consists mostly in a creamy and suffusive woodiness, with slight reminiscences of the fruity opening, and despite of its thin projection this fragrance keeps lingering on my skin after several hours. Bois de Gaiac et Poire certainly could be considered the epitome of soft and dreamy fragrance as its poetic second name implies (Close your eyes, and...): it inspires tenderness and a plainly peaceful sensation, like being cuddled by your lover on a white garden sofa in a relaxed and comforting atmosphere. The problem is this idyllic scenario is too evanescent and fleeting, although the composition is overall lovable and feels very natural. There's so much pleasantness going on here, but at least to me that's not quite enough; probably those who are into subtle and inoffensive fragrances may find themselves in love with this EdP, and as a summery pick it would probably work nicely.

So I was looking at some white floral suggestions for Spring, when I told the sales assistant that I was quite fond of pear when blended with white florals. She went a little off the beaten track when she suggested Bois de Gaiac et Poire, or as it is usually referred to as, Close Your Eyes And... yet I am rather glad that she introduced this fragrance to me. Initially I found this fragrance rather rich, spicy and intoxicating. It had an interesting, soft incensey vibe, which would probably entice me more in Winter. The pear wasn't instantly noticeable on my skin, nor was it any different on the card. I found the overall blend very oriental and woody. It's hard to review this fragrance because it is so complex and changeable. It's slightly dark, yet its moderate sillage makes it very soothing. The most dominant accords to my nose are gaiac wood, custardy heliotrope, almond, cinnamon and pureed pear. I also detect a warm vanilla accord in the drydown. I am quite taken with Bois de Gaiac et Poire, and I find it ticks all the right boxes. Even the packaging makes me smile, with a twig attached with a ribbon on the outer box. I can't say that this fragrance is particularly fruity nor citrusy, it also doesn't strike me as a typical floral. Woodsy and musky with a touch of vanillic warmth is a more apt description.

This perfume has very different phase's/stage's; In the opening it starts a bit cheap sweet, like the different notes are fighting to be first. After 5 minutes or less there is a very chique rose with a bit cinnamon coming in front, the difference between cheap and chique is big! The last and most pretty stadium is the longest; a creamy pear, almond and almost vanilla combination with a slight hint of wood in the background and the rose is still there but very soft! In my opinion utterly feminin.

Babypowder clean, sweet floral, feminine, natural smelling fragrance. On my skin that is. There’s more going on but it is pretty well blended so I can’t smell the notes seperately. I can’t really imagine an adult woman (let alone a man) wearing this though. It’s for babies only ;) (Perhaps it’s just too floral sweet to my taste, but I do feel it’s a good quality fragrance). Edit: it reminds me of Musc 25 without the fecal-smelling musk note.

this is not quiet my notes but i found it lovely and safe, light and good for spring/summer , a bit siroupy/sweet but all in all balanced between the heliotrope, , pear , almonds , very feminine without overpowering of white flowers or sweetness , a bit soapy and powdery but not too noticable, not disturbing does not last more than 4 hour on me but ok 4 hours is something

Delightful and elegant, beautiful and subtle. It feels very feminine and romantic. I like it once the top note of rose simmers down & the heliotrope & gaiac wood kicks in to give it some depth. It's like magic fairy dust.

More dusty than powdery. And lipsticky - the rose is very lipstick-like. And peppery. Some pickles. Quite stuffy. The trail is also dusty, quiet, but long.
