Blousy

This is soo fun! I completely get 'melting trashcan strawberry lolly with wasps circling' vibe mentioned by other reviewers, but personally that's part of the appeal: the name says it all, this is a properly 'blousy' (unkempt, slightly but in this case unconcernedly naff, dishevelled, worn-in) perfume with a sense of fun. It's definitely no substitute for the wonderful Miss Dior Cheri 2005 strawberry-heavy iteration, but it's the first strawberry scent since then that I've really enjoyed. Its booziness also feels middle-aged in a defiantly uproarious let's-have-another-drink kind of way (though it would work brilliantly on teens or 20-somethings too). I could totally see Hermione Baddeley wearing this. There's a bit of gone-off vintage lipstick waxiness (urgh, violet, not my favourite) but luckily none of the over-solemn nostalgia or delicacy or femininity that such scents usually conjure for me, and the drydown brings in some incense. Would be great for a party but I'll probably deliberately wear it on more mundane occasions that could do with tarting up, like to the supermarket - modest longevity means it's not too much of a commitment. Edit: I hadn't twigged that Duchaufour created this - makes sense. I love his style in general and this is very him. Edit 2: I'm wearing this all the time; it's interesting, fun and just the right volume to not get annoying; it lasts maybe half a day, then it dries down to light cedar-incense, which is ideal for me; plus my partner actively likes it. Looking for a back-up bottle.

To my nose, the way that strawberry has been done in Blousy is the most realistic strawberry I’ve smelled in a fragrance. Don’t want to say it is photorealistic, but it’s super close to how strawberries smell IRL. Obviously, the liquor note gives the scent a boozy, bittersweet touch, and the iris/violet a powdery, creamy feel. Hawthorn, one of the most underused and overlooked white floral, is prominent in the mix and gives the blend of liquor, strawberry, iris, violet a honeyed, syrupy sweet aspect. Soft spices like coriander, cinnamon and pink pepper add a subtle contrast to the boozy/fruity/floral opening. Vanilla/tonka bean and sandalwood round up the whole blend nicely, enhancing the gourmand facets and gives a smoother, woodier dry down. I have blind bought Blousy during a half off sale from Miller Harris website directly about two years ago and for the price I’ve paid, I am over the moon with my purchase. It’s a unique perfume in my collection, boozy but booze done in a feminine way, complex, sophisticated, strong and has an elegant presentation. It’s a gem that I am going to treasure for as long as I can... I think it’s been discontinued like most of the fragrances that have a strong presence and character.

Miller Harris have upped their game! Having tried Violet Ida (and loving it) I figured I'd give Blousy a try, not just because the notes sounded amazing, but those bottles are gorgeous! Blousy starts out with a big hit of strawberry and rose, it just hit me, and I thought, this is going to be great!! It's described as 'fabulously cinematic' and I agree with that. It does conjure up images of 1950's cinemas, there's a little dust (sandalwood) and booze (liquor) that just balances it out and makes it more intriguing. It never gets too fruity as a result. The iris and violet add powder and femininity. It's incredibly well blended so making out every note, for me, isn't going to happen. I was worried that the sandalwood would overpower it, but it's just in the background, I don't always get on with too much sandalwood! It's very different to anything I have tried (and I've tried a lot!) but it's good, I think it'll grow on me even more over time. It's got excellent silage and the longevity is a good 6 or 7 hours.

Just one of the most yummy, multi-layered fragrances I've tried. It's not harsh; it's fruity, a bit sweet, ambery, a tad boozy. I would love to have more than a tiny decant. The question: WHY isn't this available in the U.S? The Miller Harris website couldn't give me an answer after multiple requests - one person out of three was nice about it. It's $85.00 USD shipping (approx) on the UK MH website due to it being flammable, or $280.00 plus $32.00 shipping on a somewhat unknown shop that only takes a money wire (no can do) If anyone is selling a new-ish bottle in the U.S., I always seem to miss it. Does anyone know why this was discontinued? It seems to have plenty of like and love. I love it and search for it frequently. The strawberry note is so amazing and real, and not like others. I can't find anything close despite the recommendations.

Love, love, love this! It's a sweet, boozy strawberry with a side of pencil shavings. Very different than anything else I own or have tried. I like that it's sweetness leans fruity and not caramely, like so many other sweet scents. Great for spring and summer, although the woody pencil note makes me think of back to school, so I like it in autumn too. For something with so many floral notes, this doesn't come off very floral. Its sweet and fruity all the way through. I also don't get much of a powder note on my skin. In keeping to true Miller Harris form, this is unusual but great. It stands out from a crowd without being overbearing, obnoxious or offensive. I bought the 100ml and will definitely use it!

This brings up images of dancing in a field of wildflowers w/ wild strawberries growing. The strawberries need to be picked and soon before they fade away. There are so many flowers blooming that they create a haze of scent that blends w/ the strawberries and perfumes the air. The aroma makes you slightly drunk, maybe that is why you smell and are craving liquor, a sweet strawberry liquor. As the fragrance drys down it becomes powdery sandalwood, w/ slight oakmoss and vanilla undertones. This is very feminine. It smells strange and new but familiar at the same time. It is a young fragrance w/ a bit of a vintage vibe. It's not vintage really but it wants to be.

I love the rose and pepper notes at the opening. It does stand out. The more it settles into the middle the more I feel like I am wearing one of the Michelle Pfeiffer Henry Rose fragrances, maybe Torn or Last Light. Like I’m getting her beloved vetiver with a masculine tilt. Anyone else? A very niche experience. Comparison below to Givenchy Hot Couture, but with Hot it’s raspberry and tobacco to me. For one user, Blousy did not evolve on the skin. This fragrance evolves on my dry skin. It doesn’t stay in its sweet infancy like the sad strawberry lolly described below. I absolutely love Blousy’s drydown on a 78 degree night. Simply sultry. Should I?

I bought this blind, after falling in love with the name and description. It's my new comfort frag and by gum does it cuddle me, wrapping me in a blanket of the loveliest misted eiderdown while I'm swigging a lovely warming drink with a wee dram in it. This has a note of the most loveliest of Scottish sweets I ate as a child, a kind of fudge tablet but with a flowery and boozy undertone. I catch just about every note. I'm heading to Brighton Rock next, as Miller Harris seem to have my kind of perfume. It's a powdery sweet revelation and I'm in love with Blousy.

Blousy is an OK scent, but nowhere near as sumptuous (or scrumptious) as I thought it would be. I guess it tries to be too many things at the same time - fruity, boozy, reminiscent of make-up or of vintage perfumes, cinematic, glamourous. From a fragrance with strawberry liqueur, rose, violet and iris listed as its main notes, I would have expected a lipsticky fruity gourmand, instead Blousy opens fruity-sweet and slightly fermented, then quickly becomes a skin-scent which I can only describe as musty sandalwood, patchouli and rose. The dry down has an oddly vegetal quality and it reminds me of a cheap perfume oil - I struggle to find the violet, iris, carnation, or, for that matter, the glamour in Blousy. I guess it’s a fairly unobtrusive fragrance which can be worn on many occasions. It’s like a handmade dupe of a dupe of Portrait of a Lady.

first sniff- ive never smelled anything like this. i really pick up the coriander seed, pink pepper and rose. spices. I also get a mandarin briefly upfront and Im guessing the davana is lending the leafiness I smell. Im not getting strawberry yet. i hope i do. more later.

The previous reviewer commented it reminded them of a Scottish sweet - well it smells like Edinburgh rock which is a very very sweet, lightly aromatic, crumbly and powdery candy. It is not something I want to smell like, especially as I live in Scotland and I think most adults my age would recognise the smell! From the pyramid I had hoped this would be more floral but I can’t get past the similarities to the sweet. Like other MH scents it has good silage and longevity so much so my husband asks me to wash it off. He is not Scottish and I don’t think it reminded him of anything he just didn’t like it.

that note list sound enticing! alas. the sun is shining and beside the glossy leaves of the flowering shrubbery lays a discarded strawberry lollipop in the bottom of a hot dustbin. I had a wasps nest by the front door and it had a distinctive smell and somehow Miller Harris have managed to reproduce that as a note in this. EDIT: June 23. No, I do not smell any similarity to epine mortelle, which smells a bit like putain de palais. Didnt get powder in Blousy either, just bin jam.

This smells quite similar to Bvlgari Eau de Parfum II. And NOTHING like chevaux d'or from house of sillage, I actually got a decant of this cause I saw in fragnantica that it was similar to chevaux d'or, well... nope.

Blousy is a sweet and boozy Strawberry fragrance with a touch of powdery iris, violet and vanilla. The rose and sandalwood are noticeable too. Sometimes I get a herbal vibe as well but mostly it's a boozy powdery fruity floral fragrance which smells really glamorous and exceptional. This is a strawberry fragrance for matured women in my opinion. It's a fragrance which kind of gives the vibe of Old Hollywood Glam. It's vintage but not dated, it's matured but also seductive. I won't say it's a safe blind buy but if you love fragrances with strong character you can give this a try. Longevity is around 7+ hours with moderate projection. I personally use this Fragrance whenever I'm really well dressed and want to feel confident.

Big Fangirl of Miller Harris, and, enamoured and emboldened by the sheer loveliness of Violet Ida, I welcomed Blousy into the house like a long lost friend. Miller Harris “Blousy”. If there’s carnation, rose, violet and iris in this, I can’t find them. Evokes the horror of discarded sickly, strawberry flavoured melted lollies on the pavement upon which aggressive wasps are filling their stripey boots. It simply does not evolve on my skin. Rude, synthetic and unwholesome. How dare you MH!!! How very dare you!!! It’s a thumbs down from me.

A very linear perfume, a boozy strawberry from start to finish. Sweet and strong. I do not detect any notes separately, just a cocktail of all of them. Smells like a dessert or an alcoholic drink. Not my favourite....
