Brighton Rock

It smells exactly how the name suggests it will; Stick of rock and sea air. This is my first Miller Harris fragrance and its gotten me wanting to look at the other offerings from this house. The name and concept were interesting since, I am a lover of all things nautical and coastal, not sure why, the idea of a warm sunny day in a coastal town just makes my soul feel soothed and happy. Since I A) know nowhere that stocks testers for MH fragrances and B) am not allowed to leave the house due to us being on a national lockdown, I ordered it blind, even better was I had scored a great deal on TK Maxx! The bottle for a start, feels satisfying to hold with its nice, smooth matte finish and a satisfyingly weighty cap. The atomiser produces a fine, delicate mist. As for the scent itself, its sweet, but not a sickly, cloying gourmand sweet, its more of a soft powdery sweetness not too disimilar to the sweetness in Guerlain Insolence, the magnolia and other florals blend together beautifully whilst the blood orange and salt help to keep it fresh and stop the overall composition from veering into a headache inducing syrupy sweet mess. The longevity is moderate and the silage is soft, like a sweet/salty musk, its quite an unusual scent, its cheerful and bright, future repurchase

This is sucha treat of a scent on my skin . i have fallen hard for this young easy going scent. im craving it often and it trills me to have it on. make ma almost giggle of joy. Perfect for springtime . I have only been wearing it in cooler climat (Norway) and it truly blooms and radiats soft uplifting sweet blooms around you. I havent realy smelle anything like this one . the notes are cleverly mixed. Not very unik perhaps in the sense of style. its just easy and blissfull to wear . The rose and sweetnotes blends so well with the salty note . Yes it is a bit playdoughy.but uplifting so . Not to waxy or sticky . just nice and different. The magnolia is a star in this one shines with all the other notes to truly sets the spring and uplifting mood. lily of the valley is mingled in not very pronounsed in this one , but i can sense it with the magnolia . Smelling from a distence its sweet intoxsicating. Get closer and you get a slightly more spiced up feel asweel. not as in spice from food but as in Floral . Im very happy to have a bottle and will use this to brighten up my days .

This is an interesting scent. The opening is very sweet, rosy and fruity with salty twist. I couldnt resist trying it. Gradually the magnolia and other flowers appear. The sweetness eases off a bit. I am thankful for that. The drydown is a slightly sweet, musky magnolia and to be honest Im not very keen. Looking at the list of notes it would be easy to imagine it is one of these typical mainstream sickly sweet confections. It is thankfully not. If BR hadnt changed into a musky magnolia scent then I would have snapped up a bottle. Having said that I think this one is going to fly off the shelves. Slightly sweet musky florals seem popular with Brit gals. Ladylike but not mainstream. A touch of the unique about it. Very MH. Its pretty warm today and sadly BR doesnt hang around that long on me or have much sillage. Both moderate at a stretch

I really wanted to like this -- the notes sound intriguing and I love almost everything from Miller Harris. I just can't get in to it. The salty note is way too strong, with a really pronounced Playdoh smell. I was hoping for more of a crisp ocean scent, but it is not that at all. The other floral notes blend together in to something generic that reminds me of scented aerosol hairspray in the 90s. That's all I get: hairspray and playdoh. It's not offensive, I wouldn't mind sitting next to someone wearing it, but it is not delightful either. I definitely do not crave it or find myself reaching for it. A strong "meh" from me.

This smells like perfume mixed with gummi bears - extremely sweet and fruity. I don't hate this, but I do find it strange. It's definitely not a fragrance to wear to a professional setting, and I wouldn't wear it to a formal setting, either.

Clean and soap / powdery fresh scent. I could pick out the magnolia and later on the citrus. Unusual for me as I prefer woody scents but it was a blind purchase in TKMAXX and I don’t regret it.

A sweet powdery rose marshmallow. I expected the seaside, but got marshmallows instead. Sixteen pounds for 50ml at tk Maxx - can't really complain.

I blind bought all 3 of these Miller Harris perfumes that were inspired by the book Brighton Rock. I love Violet Ida and Blousy. Brighton Rock on the other hand is very disappointing. I can see why they discontinued this. It is so strange and off putting that it isn't like a perfume at all. It smells like a strange floral flavored saltwater taffy. I am picking up on magnolia, water lily and lily of the valley here, but the salty accord is so strong that it makes the florals smell like they are downing in sea water. The sweet notes are not calming the salty accord down enough to make this a pleasant juxtaposing of sweet vs salty notes. I'm not getting the playdough accord that others got but there is a falseness about this perfume that was never present in any of my other Miller Harris blind buys, all of them were very successful. The only thing I can say is this perfume smells like flowers drowning in sea water. I will have to wait until my husband gets home from work to see what he thinks of this. I have a feeling he is going to be displeased that he bought this for me as a surprise to complete my set. It is very strange smelling and also extremely strong and a bit headache inducing. Not the quality I expect from Miller Harris at all. I know this brand goes for unique creations, but this is a bit to unique for me. A strange floral flavored saltwater taffy that isn't sweet enough and is too salty. Whomever did the accords they really got it wrong. Aquatic and salty should be higher up the chain as well. This is heavily aquatic and very salty.

Blind bought this because I love the brand, and I was so disappointed. I was soo confused when smelling this on my skin. It smelled.. stale in a way? very hard to describe. It's slightly powdery which i love. Is it the iris that don't blend well with the roses? I can't tell anymore. I can't smell the sea salt unfortnately. but I do pick up some geranium and sandalwood but it is so faint. The drydown is the best where it finally blends altogether. It's a nice musky base. A little off topic but - what are "sweet notes" anyway? so vague. This vague note I usually find in cheap perfumes, and therefore i'm surprised Miller Harris went with that note too. I don't wanna sound too harsh, i'm just genuinely intressed. If someone knows the answer fell free to write to me! Price - overpriced (50 ml) Smell - 5/10 Sillage - 4/5 Projection - 6/6 Bottle design - 9/10 Would I buy it again? No.

I wanted to love this, I really did. I love the notes, the bottle, the story; everything about this perfume appeals to me. But for some reason as soon as I spray it, all I smell is home made play dough. Its just salt. None of those gorgeous floral notes. Not even a hint of those sweets. The lasting power is not great on me either. I dont absolutely hate it as play dough is a nostalgic, comforting scent to me and it isn't completely unwearable. I just much prefer the others in this range, like blousy or violet ida.

Brighton Rock is a very easy to like fragrance. Its non intrusive and smells nice. Perfect for a blind buy, or for a present for someone you don't know that well, young or middle aged, I cant imagine anyone hating it. It is girly imho. However this is also a bit of it's downside. If you would like something with a character, this is not it. Also the salty smell gets a bit annoying on me personally - if I wear it all day. A nice fragrance nevertheless, I have been complimented wearing it.

This is really a fun fragrance, fruity floral in the best sense, strawberries and melon, delicate flowers and fresh sea air! I think it has a bit of 90's wibe. Still, it's a bit too frivolous for me to wear, but on the right person it can be gorgeous.
