Celadon

OMG!! I think I have just discovered my favourite tea/mate/verbena/basil/tomato leaf scent with Celadon. Holy moly, this is gorgeous and I am not a even a green/herbal/aromatic person...The basil note in this is unmatched, why is nobody talking about this scent???? This should be in all youtubers “Top 10 fresh/best scents for summer 2025”. Celadon is what I expected Maison Margiela’s From the Garden to smell like : a true to the way all these leafy greens smell like. Or put in differently, a very photorealistic green scent. And Celadon is doing that for me! This, in the high heat, is perfection! It opens straight with a smooth blend of tomato leaf, basil, verbena and tea, then it moves quickly towards a clear, floral heart: watery magnolia and hints of a very delicate, transparent rose until it settles on the skin in the deep dry down into a mix of herbals, musk, oakmoss and cedar. I personally (and luckily) didn’t notice anything smoky in Celadon to be honest. It would ruin the entire scent for me if it would be noticeable. While From the Garden leaned more masculine to my nose, Celadon is leans more feminine. Such a refreshing, uplifting, happy scent! If you love Guerlain’s Mandarin Basilic or Herba Fresca you would adore Celadon. Let’s see how well it performs because price wise it’s way above all three scents mentioned above. Edit 20.08. 2025 I have found Celadon on a 60% discount today, so I have finally added a bottle to my collection!

My ordered sample of Celadon arrived several hours ago and was applied immediately. My first impression of this welcome new fragrance by Miller Harris is as follows: Firstly, I noted that this is the lighter of the two new fragrances. Upon my initial application to the back of my right hand and wrist (my left hand & wrist were used to sample the new Soufflot), Celadon opens with dominant tea, cardamon, and tomato leaf notes. Surprisingly, it is not too heavy at this stage and not light and airy either. As the dry-down deepens, predominantly rose and lavender notes join in as the top notes become fainter. Further into the dry-down, more floral notes join the fray in the form of beautifully distinct tuberose and magnolia. Further along, a slight musky base starts to arise. Overall, this fragrance makes an appreciative, skilled use of florals, lavender, and rose. Even though I am (not an effeminate) male, I can still enjoy such notes in a quality fragrance like this (and Secret Gardenia, also by Miller Harris) and wear it when it suits me. In conclusion, Celadon is a stunning unisex fragrance that can be worn throughout the year. However, as with all fragrances, others' objective interpretations may differ.

And this is a beautiful way to do a summer fragrance without big citrus or marine! On first spray I got an overwhelming (in a good way) blast of green, the tomato leaf is so present but blended so well that the impression is of a pure photorealistic plant that hasn’t been cultivated yet. It’s light but luscious with the tea and magnolia preventing it from veering into herba fresca territory (though I love it I already have it). There is almost a garden mint type facet to this though I think it’s the tomato leaf and basil perhaps. It really is a light fresh green and beautifully blended, props to the perfumer responsible. If you like Herba Fresca or even ELDO You or Someone like You this might be an easy pick if you like that freshness of tomato leaf, blended superbly but not avoidable if you are not a fan. Damn, I was not planning on buying any more fragrance this summer!

This is such a good green/herbal scent. There are a lot of notes but they’re blended so beautifully. The tomato leaf is probably the standout scent for me, especially in the opening, but all the others work harmoniously to create a green, fresh, slightly vegetal scent. Definitely best for daytime and warm weather. My only gripe is the longevity isn’t great and I don’t feel that I get to all the base notes (I’d like to get a bit more smoke and cedar) but it’s not surprising given it’s a freshie. Another winner from Miller Harris, a house that’s really growing on me.

Have been enjoying trying this over the past few days. The opening is divine, it's in the realm of my three favourite discontinued YSLs, Baby Doll, Vice Versa and In love again. Not identical but within the vicinity. The longevity is excellent for a fresh summer fragrance and it remains fresh and interesting in the dry down. Beautifully blended. The tomato leaf is notable but I don't find any one ingredient over powering the others. I will be purchasing a fb in time for southern hemisphere summer.

Basil-wreathed, bright and herbal with a verdant, almost culinary sharpness. The opening is a brisk exhalation of greenery, an aromatic gust of crushed basil leaves still slick with their own sap, mingling with the crisp bitterness of herbs and soil. It is fresh but not dewy, invigorating but not effervescent—a sharp, angular aroma that leans more toward the kitchen than the wild garden. The basil is dominant, and it becomes clear that there is no great metamorphosis awaiting. The freshness never blooms, nor does it decay; it simply lingers in a state of stasis, an herbal whisper that neither deepens nor expands. Beneath the basil’s sharpness, an earthy undercurrent can be sensed if you squint—a muted, vaguely floral aromatic warmth that suggests depth without ever fully embracing it. There are hints of moss and dry tea leaves, a grounding presence that remains firmly in the background, but it never asserts itself nearly enough to transform the fragrance. A fragrance of quiet competence rather than deep desire—a garden eternally pruned, beauty contained yet never realized.

Ephemeral and aqueous tomato leaves 🌨️🌿 Tea Ceylon and a hint of basil make this fragrance glisten like morning dew. The tomato leaf stays ever-dominant, though as the fragrance develops, I detect the whisper of rose from the heart notes. Finally, as Celadon dries down, the promised magnolia note emerges, accompanied by the cooling scent of mate leaves and white musk. Tomato leaf fragrances are rare but Miller Harris has two: La Feuille and Celadon! I love that this brand makes unapologetic green scents for green fragrance lovers like myself. The perfume perfectly captures the page from the 'Dream of the Red Chamber,' evoking the shower of rain, beauteous jade, and mossy pots. Mental images: Water coursing through rain-chain buckets, swaying gently from the eaves of an American Craftsman home 🏡 The deep, resonant patter of raindrops on rain drums 🌧️🥁

If Vetiver Escarlate from L'Artisan lingers in sun-drenched gardens, lush with sweet tomato pulp and green leaves, Celadon retreats to something quieter, more raw. The greenness here is darker, more angular—a fibrous stem broken in half, seeping with something bitter. Less juice, more sap. There's woods take on a sharper form, astringent yet grounding, like the scent of damp soil after rain, cool yet strangely comforting. There’s an almost smoky edge to it, as though the greenery had been pressed too hard, bruising, releasing a faint trace of something shadowy and earthen. Little ripe fruit to temper its bite, less sweetness to soften the green—just pure, unadulterated geeen, but in a way that feels intentional, refined and unapologetic.

Beautifully fresh unisex fragrance - opens with citrus, cardamom, basil, then the tomato leaf note really comes through. Hours later I find it settles into something still fresh but a little spicy. I find it lasts well, and seems very well balanced to me - but still with a lot of interest. Might just be me, but I find it has an almost cooling sensation on the skin (as does Tea Tonique also by MH)... Would really suit spring / summer, but I see myself reaching for it on a rainy day too - to summon sunshine / warmth or just to give me a little mood boost. Office / work appropriate for sure, but it almost feels a bit too nice for that! I only have a tester but intend to buy.

Different Green Fresh A little spicy A bold approach that is admirable to say the least I’ve never smelled tomato leaf so realistic as I got it here Unfortunately the tomato leafs don’t last as much as I would like Tea , mate , basil If you asked me looking at the pyramid I would’ve guessed this to be a lot greener and harder to wear But fortunately it is subtle and cozy I tried it on different surfaces On paper it smells amazing On mixed fabric wasn’t as smooth or interesting But on cotton it was fascinating I liked this and I have the perfumer on my radar This is unique enough for me to be interested in her work

An unusual summer scent - on me, it run quite steamy and there is almost a hint of matcha tea as the fragrance develops. Lovely for summer months but given how green it runs, I wonder if it would also work for autumn. On me, lasts a decent length of time (can still smell it as a skin scent by the end of the day, reasonable projection) and would make a lovely daily scent for anyone in a warmer climate.

It’s in a style of the Hermes line that has creations called “un jardin” etc etc but with more lasting power. If you like the fresh green airy aromatic style I would recommend it. I would get a bottle if price is right.

Amazing green scent! Pure freshness from a tart yet slightly powdery tomato leaf mixed with subtle citruses and lovely soft musk in the base. However, the dry down is a bit too floral for my taste.

The first few seconds of this are evocative of being in a hot balcony greenhouse full of tomato plants. It's quite a realistic tomato leaf, but not in a cool way to my nose, in a balmy way. I can almost see the fogged up glass and the bags of soil amongst the greenery. Maybe your aunt is pruning, because there's a cut stem green smell that comes in immediately. I'm surprised there's no fig listed. The tea, basil, cardamom are all in attendance. It almost veers too green for me, I'm sometimes sensitive to that milky figgy cut stem scent. It isn't particularly floral, I love magnolia and I can smell what's it's doing to the composition rather than smelling the note itself, same for the lavender. I get no rose. This is sort of like if someone wearing Chanel n19 was in a warm greenhouse drinking tea. It certainly smells sophisticated. If i huff it like so strongly I do get the tuberose and it's very nice. Makes my nose tingle. Imagery: LA Woman in tennis whites and silver jewellery stood at kitchen island, finishes her tea, grabs SUV keys and heads out the door. This is the early 90s. She's visiting her mother whose new hobby is gardening because she saw Martha Stewart do it. Her parent's house is a neo spanish build, covered in flowers and vines. She heads into the sun room and reclines in a hanging rattan chair with a House Beautiful mag, while her mother toils and her dad mows the lawn (not because they can't afford a landscaper but because he likes to think he's down to earth). Fresh cut flowers are in a vase somewhere. edit: actually don't like this, too green, irritates my nose in the dry down.

Smells like tomatoes and tomato leaf but cleaner and almost soapy. Fresh but on the heavier side.

Celadon, by Miller-Harris, has so many interesting ingredients, I'm puzzled that I find the result is so much less than the sum of all of them. I hope someday I'll find a likeable scent to feature tomato leaf, but here, it is overwhelmed by the strongly aromatic aspects of basil, cardomon and lavender and the potent sweetness of tuberose. I think the tomato leaf note would work better with other ingredients which bring out the greenness, and mossiness. As it is, Celadon feels like a perfume of 2 contrasting personalities which fight against each other.

A cool, herbal-green fragrance with a clear tomato leaf note that reads sharp, vegetal, and slightly bitter. The opening leans crushed stems and sap rather than anything photonic or mineral. Its “freshness” is more garden‐humidity than light, with a muguet‐adjacent edge that stays stemmy throughout.
