La Feuille

I have a number of these green leafy-note Miller Harris fragrances to try now that the weather is warming up where I live, and so far I get the impression that they're not always vastly different from one another. Yeah, well, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. They're unisex, probably leaning feminine. They're fresh--airy, sometimes a little watery (I don't mean watered down). They're fruity--some in a flat-out sour-citrusy way, others in a fuller, more exotic-fruit kind of way that pulls them towards the Mediterranean (and variously, partly depending on the degree of wateriness, reminds me of Hermès Un Jardin en Méditerranée or Un Jardin sur le Nil). And they have plenty of green facets of a kind that, I realise from reading Fragrantica comments, is more than enough to repel many people who don't love green scents, even though many of the rest of us can't get enough of this stuff. For instance, neither the tomato leaf nor the galbanum here is at all coarse or piercing to my nose, but I would advise anyone who doesn't categorically love green fragrances to think twice before committing to any of these MH ones, if only because so many people on here seem to come to them with this or that expectation that turns out to be way off the mark. That said, some of these are available in small-bottle format from discounters--why I have so many of them--and in that context they are absolutely worth a shot. Of the green MH frags I have tried so far, this is probably the biggest hitter. It's very nicely blended, well integrated. Its performance is good for the genre, though with this kind of (light) fragrance I'd always recommend applying in such a way as to get some on clothes in order to boost the longevity. I do see some similarity to Diptyque L'Ombre dans l'Eau, mostly in terms of the watery-garden aspect, but this is neither rose forward nor anywhere near as gothic--if that's the word we're using--as the Diptyque. This is more like a warm, sunny day in a lush Mediterranean garden with a river or stream not far away and with some kind of fairly full-smelling citrus or figgy fruit on the trees.

I love Miller Harris and ordered a bunch of their fragrances. I blind bought this one, which was risky as the notes would indicate that it's not my usual fare. I don't tend to go for green scents; the notes made me skeptical. Indeed, the tomato leaf is aggressively photorealistic at first. It reminds me of suffocatingly hot, sweaty summer days weeding the family vegetable garden, when the rich herbaceous smell of the tomato plants hangs heavy in the air. It isn't a refined or elegant smell. However, within minutes, the bold tomato leaf is joined by a singular blend of high-quality green notes, providing the main note with exactly the accompaniment it needs. It is masterfully done, turning my skepticism and dislike of a certain note into appreciation and admiration of how such a note can be presented. Throughout the scent's lifespan (which is very long-lasting) it maintains its tomato leaf heart, though it is strangely beautiful within the overall composition. I'm still figuring out this unique, fascinating scent. If you love realistic, brilliantly made green scents, this is a must-try.

I immediately pictured someone with wind-tousled waves, dressed in a relaxed boho-chic style. I adore anything this uplifting and green... It’s bright, charming, and just a touch nostalgic. The first thing I get is a burst of fresh greenery and sharp leafiness, followed by citrus facets and a soft powdery note. Iris isn’t listed, which surprised me, because it creates a distinctly watery-iris impression on my skin. It’s spring in its purest form. I’m one of those people who loves the opening of L’Ombre Dans L’Eau, and I’m also a big fan of the tomato-leaf moment in Corsica Furiosa. This fragrance doesn’t smell like either of them, but it captures that same emotional beat that exact green spark; and that’s why I fell for it so, so, so much. This opens with a stunning and realistic tomato leaf note as if you were standing inside a green house. After an hour or so the sweetness, from what I guess is blackcurrant, kicks in while maintaining this greenish vibe throughout. Final stage is a nice mix of greens, slightly sweet and mossy wood. Very unisex, very likeable and definitely unique. Longevity is good as it's noticeable beyond 8 hours with moderate projection. Don't wear this in the high heat but keep it for spring and fall :). 8/10

La Feuille is milky floral from the line. When I tried it first time I suddenly remembered the fig perfumes but it doesn't contains fig fruit I think so. İt's open the bright notes something like grapefruit and then you can sniff the milky notes among the notes. I applied it in the morning and I could feel it until the night. I like that miller harris's collection but not love to me except l'air de rien and fleur de sel. Maybe I found another love in the line.

I was gifted a travel spray about 2 years ago and was struck by the herbaceous tomato plant smell. I treated this as a curiosity and mothballed it for 2 years until one hot summer day spent outside for the most part and I reached for it instead of my usual chypre(s). This unusual green stunner has now become my summer go to when it calls for a hot sunny day off playing in the water or spending the day outside.

It’s a blend of juicy green notes with a lovely earthy and mossy base. It’s really fresh and complex. I think it’s definitely of my favorite fragrance from the brand. The tomato leaves note here is simply gorgeous!

The opening on this smells familiar in a weird way. I think it reminds me of the smell of permanent markers? There's just a lot going on at first and it's kind of overwhelming. But the dry-down is to die for!

This is the tomato leaf I was looking for. Far superior than Corsica Furiousa and Sisley Eau de Champagne. Worth every penny. 10/10

Writing this review made me laugh 😂 One of my sisters adores La Feuille because it reminds her of helping our grandpa hunt for tomato worms to protect his prized tomato harvest. My other sister? She can't fathom why anyone would want to smell "like dirt." As for me, La Feuille is a beautifully crafted tomato leaf fragrance that outshines Maison Martin Margiela’s From the Garden in both scent quality and longevity. The blend of tomato leaf, ivy, and cassis is brilliant; while tomato leaf takes center stage, the lifelike ivy adds a cooling quality that elevates the fragrance. It reminds me of my old college, where a greenhouse stood in front of a historic, ivy-covered liberal arts building made of red sandstone, with gaslamps peeking through the blanket of ivy. On my skin, La Feuille lasts about three hours, which is decent for a green, fresh fragrance. I’d love to buy a bottle for my sister, but at $250, it’s a bit of a splurge. By the way, I noticed the notes on Fragrantica aren’t accurate. According to the Miller Harris website, the notes are: Top: Cassis, Red Berries, Blackcurrant, Galbanum Heart: Green Ivy, Tomato Leaf, Fig Base: Oak Leaf, Earthy Moss, Evernyl, Cedarwood

I will start by saying I am really fond of MH's approach to perfumery. When the sales assistant sprayed this on me in the shop, it was nice but like many other reviews said, my first impression was "I don't want to smell like this". Tomato leaf in the opening is so freaking realistic! I got a sample anyway and today I was feeling in a bad mood and decided to go for a green scent to lift me up. La feuille was so surprising: the sharp tomato leaf becomes less prominent in like 20-30 minutes and the fragrance opens up with nice kinda citruses (but since the notes listed here are wrong, I'd say it's the berries!) the other notes (as per the MH website, these in fragrantica are wrong) are not very distinguishable for me, but I am sure it is what makes it very balanced and definitely elegant (and I am a huge fig lover!) It is a fresh and envigorating parfum. I would use it mainly in spring and for the day. Especially in the early morning to start off your day (it's like you are out in nature harvesting and I love this vibe) 😊

I couldn't bring myself to like it as much as I wish I could. It's got great sillage and lasting power BUT it just is too green in the sense that it's almost like a "room spray" kind of scent. I just can't seem to like it on me. Super green and like others said, no floral just leaves. Unique though! I feel like you have to be a certain kind of character to pull this off. Maybe hippy and into earthy stuff or someone who likes to read vintage books or someone who likes to add more greens to their leathery scents...hmmm if I have to picture the perfect person to wear this. Also cos of my sensitive skin, I've been meaning to cut down my fragrance collection so I had to let this one go as I don't see myself picking this as one of my top scents.

It really smells like L'Ombre Dans L'eau, a really green, tart, and herbal rose. The tomato leaf is most prominent to my nose. I like this fragrance, but unfortunately, my husband really does not like like La Feuille. He says I smell like a candle. I'm not sure if that's because once we purchased the Baies candle from Diptyque as a gift for someone, and if that scent (same as L'Ombre Dans L'eau I believe) is still so strongly linked in his brain as a candle scent, even though we've never had it in our own home. And now I can't disassociate the two either...so I wouldn't purchase for myself, even though I love this scent profile.

Fresh and green and a little fruitier than I was expecting. It isn’t listed in the notes here but on their website MH mention blackcurrants and berries - they’re subtle and more backgrounded, but they’re definitely there. Definite tomato leaf but for me there’s a creaminess to this that isn’t quite straight greenhouse. It’s neither quite wild enough to threaten some of my favourite scents that have that vibe nor pretty enough to displace my prettier favourites. I like it but I don’t think I’d buy the full bottle considering the price. I’ll enjoy my sample, though!

Somehow this turned into a more grown up version of BBW’s Cucumber Melon from the 1990s once it hit my skin. Even there there’s no melon in here, I got a rich, ripe melon along with a nice powdery rose and some citrus for good measure. It’s also very strong- four or five sprays last over twelve hours! When I first tried this out, I sprayed too much and I got a headache, so habitual oversprayers should be careful with this one.

You have got to like tomato leaf to truly like this fragrance. Therefore, Le Feuille is NOT a safe blind buy scent. For those who do NOT know, tomato leaf is a dark, green, astringent scent. Have you ever smelled V8 juice or a Bloody Mary? It's that smell with a cooling, green freshness. It's that kind of tomato leaf. The tomato leaf is the main player in the opening and part of the heart of this fragrance because the it lingers in this scent. I recommend you getting a sample of it first before committing to a blind buy. Le Feuille is a quality scent but I did not like how the tomato leaf smelled on my skin. It didn't work with my skin chemistry, which is why I recommend a sample. But, this is all just my opinion. Take opinions and reviews with a grain of salt. Everyone has an opinion regarding smells. Some people love a specific fragrance. Some people hate it. Some people lie regarding reviews and opinions. Some state the truth. My advice is for you to GET A SAMPLE OF ANY FRAGRANCE BEFORE YOU BUY IT. That way, you can assess it for yourself and have your own thoughts rather than strictly going off someone else's thoughts and opinions.

I am bit puzzled by this range. The presentation (online), the packaging and the pricing leads one to expect something quite unusual, groundbreaking, niche de niche. If I understood correctly, this is meant to be a limited distribution range that allows the perfumer a greater degree of freedom for her creativity. The packaging is very high quality, the entire design concept is good - bottle, box, little booklet. I like the retro simplicity of the whole idea. La Feuille starts with an original and very pleasant green, slightly bitter (ivy?) smell lightened by a fruity, tart/sweet accord. This stage completely won me over and I bought the bottle (one never learns...). I tried it on skin and it worked really well. However, half an hour later a fruit accord takes over, something quite generic, forest berries, reminding me of the ubiquitous synthetic fruit accords in many things, but mostly in sweet female (teenage?) fragrances. I can't get the base, which is meant to be oakmoss and oak (which sound very promising). This is listed in most places as unisex, in other (fewer) sources as a woman's fragrance. Once the fruit note develops, there is a bubble gum/pop kind of sweetness that identify this as a fragrance for young women. I could be wrong about it, so I will try again later in the year when the weather is a bit cooler (it is meant to be embodying autumnal transitions) as it might not work well in very hot weather. And there were a few other MH fragrances that required a bit of work before I got to understand/like them, so not giving up hope yet.

The opening is very nice and actually smells modern. I get the galbanum, the tomato leaf, but also cassis. The dry down is much less appealing for me personally(male), as it went into that old-school women's Chypre i.e "old ladies' perfume" 😁 which smells of rose, lily otv, and oakmoss. Just a thought: why did they remove this perfume from their main line(clear bottles) and put in their oriental(more expensive, black bottles) line? It makes no sense at all!

This smells like tomato leaves and grass to me. Much sharper than From the Garden. I've no interest in smelling like this and don't want to smell it on ayone else.

Not pleasant at all, as who would want to go around smelling like the inside of a greenhouse? The only Miller Harris fragrance, which I didn't buy an entire bottle of. Sorry, genuinely ghastly to my nose!

I've been trying to find a scent that captures Eris Green Spell's perfect balance of tomato leaf and fruit that lasts longer than 30 minutes. This comes close, so long as I spray it on fabric. On clothes, the tomato leaf stays dominant, with just enough of the floral and fruit notes coming through keeping it from being astringent. On skin, however, the citrus and sweet notes eventually become more prominent, tilting the balance away from the tomato leaf. For some people that might be a good thing, but since tomato leaf is my favorite note, it was a downside. Still, on clothing this is very, very good. Edit: I've brought this out again now that it's warming up outside and there's something in the drydown that doesn't sit right with me. It's almost yeasty? I can't describe it better than that, but I don't like it.

Got this for criminally cheap from a UK distributor. Absolutely beautiful bottle and fragrance. Dark heavy unadulterated green smell. There's almost a sort of wet Berry smell as well which adds to the green-ness of the fig and tomato plant. Very beautiful. Very akin to diptyque's L'ombre dans Leau. Doesnt last long! Skin scent in maybe an hour. Doesnt seem to last on clothes either. Though im very susceptible to going anosmic quickly to fragrances. Ive a few MH fragrances at this point and I often cant smell them while others can. So perhaps its just the same situation again.

Enduring love at first sniff. I get flashbacks to when I was a child and picked red currants from the bushes at the back of our garden. It's an earthy green scent, berries, wood, grass, the cooling air of an early summer evening... there's just no way I can describe this objectively, apologies. It's such an awesome fragrance, completely transporting. Cinematic. I don't wear it too often, afraid that the deep feelings it evokes will somehow fade or become less special. If I had a signature scent it'd be this. Just beautiful.

THIS is the tomato leaf I've been looking for. Eau de Campagne is so close to what i wanted and though beautiful (and I adore Jean-Claud Ellena) it tends to go a bit shaving cream/barbershop in the mid, on my skin. From The Garden by Maison Margiela is yummy too, but feels too heavy and somewhat cheap, compared to Eau de Campagne. But this. THIS. This will be my tomato leaf fragrance. So green and fresh and perfect and nostalgic - just like plucking fresh warm delicious tomatoes off the vine during summer.

I have been obsessed with finding the perfect tomato leaf fragrance so sampled this as part of my journey. On initial spray I loved it. I was a strong fresh green scent. Like being out in the garden picking fresh fruits and veggies kind of smell. Sadly, it dried down super quickly and was nearly non-existent within the hour.

On me the tomato leaf is the main smell on all stages of development, which I love, I was actually looking for a thick green smell. It's strong and lasts a long time, the smell is a lot close to a pelargonium or a geranium leaf smell than a tomato, even better!

Another beautiful and unique scent by the talented Lyn Harris. It's the greeniest scent I ever smell. No flowers in it. Only leaves. A bouquet of crush leaves (tomato, fig, ivy).
