Melody

Melody is an underrated perfect composition that takes its cue from the likes of Delina but then makes it more graceful, greener and poetic. This is exactly how I like my rose perfumes: the right amount of sweet, green and sensual. But it's not too much one way or another, but rather a gauze of beautiful petals, soft fabric and the kinds of pinks you get in the sky when the next day promises to be fair.

This is beautiful and straight up reminds me of The Wedding Silk Santal, just a bit more floral. I would purchase this if I didn't already have silk santal.

Wearing a sample of Miller Harris' soon to be launched Melody so now my arms are adorned with the scent of candied cucumbers that evokes being in a dressing room with young girls getting ready for their ballet exam - all that tension coupled with multiple hair care products. I said to my husband: 'I'm trying the new Miller Harris scent'. He muttered into his duvet: 'Yes I can smell that' 'It smells to me of a dressing room before a ballet exam'. 'Yes',he muttered into his duvet (again) - 'random aldehydes'. That's a great name for a new perfume brand, I said. Friend said: I love it - imagine a world where your husband is in charge of naming all perfumes (tho he doesn't know it). Like the Wizard of Oz with a duvet. Perfumers make arduous journeys to waft their scent before him, and whatever he mutters becomes its name'. 'Yeah - the grumble guru' I reply. 'In a Frances Hodgeson Burnett book the 7 year old ballet orphan would call him Grumble'. She said. So there we have it - keywords for Miller Harris' Melody: ballet exam dressing rooms, Frances Hodgeson Burnett, 7 year old ballet orphans, candied cucumbers, and random aldehydes. I do keep sniffing my forearms though.

This fragrance isn't a bold bombshell. Fitting its name, it is a lovely melody of graceful notes-- a classical painting in watercolor. Perhaps the painting is of the ballet or a flower-laden countryside. The rose is prominent, elevated with aromatics and the brightness of black currant and bergamot. If you have a nose for subtle nuances, this fragrance has many; I can see it becoming a beautiful staple for those who can appreciate the artistry behind it. For me personally, I think it is lovely, but at this point, I haven't madly in love--at least not yet. If it was gifted to me, I'd be happy to wear it, but I may not go out of my way to get it unless found for an incredible price. Overall, it is worth trying, especially if you're a fan of Miller Harris. Most people will probably think its nice/okay, but a few will really fall for its personality and adore it.

I purchased a sample of this and I keep coming back for more. The opening is a little overly sweet and fruity for my taste... but love the opening or not, it quickly settles down into a more subtle sweetness. Dry down becomes a dreamy, well balanced blend that keeps me coming back for more. To me, it is a very delicate, fresh, creamy musk scent that is not overpowering. Hint of florals, hint of fresh spicy, subtle sweetness balanced with tea and woodiness...but not heavy by any means. Loving this and I keep reaching for my almost empty sample...just may splurge on a bottle. Easy reach for casual fresh scent- subtle but so plesant!

Sadly like walking through duty free. Not for me.

Too overpowering and heavy for my taste. Opens strong with rose, lavender, vanilla and blackcurrant, the other notes are more in the bakground. The dry down reminds me a lot of vanillin powder and/or powdered sugar with rosy notes.

This review is based on a free sample received with thanks directly from Miller Harris UK earlier today. The opening is fresh and unisex, with the bergamot, blackcurrant, and basil taking centre stage. It's a shame it didn't stay that way, though, as Melody rapidly loses its way with me soon after. The heart notes, which consist of a feminine rose, masculine lavender, and a unisex tea note, aren't a perfect combination during the dry down, in my opinion. I haven't encountered these notes together before and find them a tad unpleasant and confusing. By this stage, the scent comes across as more feminine. I have often found the base notes of vanilla, musk, and wood in many other fragrances, making this rather dull and boring in Melody. The longevity is around 4 hours from start to finish, which is not great for a fragrance costing £180.00 GBP. I'm sorry, everybody. Melody doesn't really engage with me as a man, so I'm not a fan. However, it might suit a woman.

I am 72 years young, and found my signature in Melody. Soft, lightly sweet, translucent, lasts most of the day in Las Vegas 110 heat today. Sigh........

A fresh, dewy floral with subtle richness. Very spring-like and airy, similar in mood to Delina La Rosée, but noticeably softer and less sharp.
