Tea Tonique Extrait

This is for the Tea Tonique fans who love the original but wish it had more richness, better performance, and just a hint of extra sweetness and florals. It isn’t a different fragrance. It’s Tea Tonique at its absolute best. It does share some similarities with Nest Indigo but feels more elegant, refined, and truly unisex in the most luxurious way. The added warmth in the extrait makes it a more versatile fragrance and perfect for winter.

I am currently comparing the original Tea Tonique and this Extract version side by side. I'm not a massive fan of Tea Tonique as It feels a bit bitter and screechy to me. I'm also not keen on what I perceive to be an artificial lemon note, which I'm sure is anything but: I doubt Miller Harris is using Jif instead of a juicy Amalfi lemon. Tea Tonique IS a very good rendition of a strong, bitter black tea with lemon, so there's that. However, the Extract is an altogether different thing: creamier, softer, much quieter. I really smell the tea and it's a much more refined blend. This tea is so fresh and perfect, it doesn't need any extras like milk, lemon or sugar. I can imagine spraying this on when I'm feeling overwhelmed and it instantly grounding me. I love that it is so similar yet very different in a good way. It demonstrates how tiny tweaks to a perfume can change its character for the better. I'm going to enjoy wearing this through spring and reaping the benefits of its calm beauty.

Finally got to try this beauty thanks to a decant from a fellow member of the perfume community. The base notes of birch tar and smoke in this are well blended in the base and don't lend that 'ashy' aspect like in the original. I agree that the original Tea Tonique, which I used to own, is far too smoky and masculine. In this extrait version, the tea is lighter and high-quality, and the fruity peach blossom note is much more substantial and blends in with the lemon note well. The sillage is intimate, as is typical for an extrait. The type of tea note that is strongest for me here is earl grey tea. Longevity is about 1hour and 30 minutes on me before it turns into a skin scent.

Sadly, having just contacted Miller Harris customer services UK, individual samples of this new extrait de parfum are not available to purchase. Therefore, the only way to try it out is by visiting a Miller Harris store, of which there are two in London. However, to be fair, the original Tea Tonique EDP isn’t that bad, to be honest, although it's not one of my personal Miller Harris favourites. Hopefully, this new extrait variant will be of superior quality.
