Velvet Cherry

Bitter cherry pit with lots of saffron and noticeable leather. Beginning reminds of cherry liquor with slight amaretto note, bitter and very aromatic, no sweetness. Then rough leather and tangy saffron got noticeable, but liquor is still there. All together makes dark, really velvety spicy mix, maybe slightly medicinal, reminding of herbal syrups. It's a very addictive perfume for me, despite it smell bit artificial. Development is quite linear, very long lasting, can smell it even after shower and lasts forever on hair.

The initial sweetness calms down (luckily) as it starts like I spilt Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia on my top that’s gone warm and sticky. After that subsides, there’s an interesting smokiness which I quite like. The dry-down is more refined (I’m actually liking the clean spice dry-down) but all-in-all I’m not bowled-over.

This scent has been all the hype amongst fragrant groups since it hit TK Maxx stores in the UK. Here's my take. Starts off super musky. Animalic, almost, that strong ambergris. Very niche, very powerful piercing note to my nose. Cherry and saffron lingering in the background, and the papyrus gives it an earthy almost oakmossy feel. Sweet, powdery, but neither of these aspects are overpowering. Stong vetiver and patch on the drydown, cherry lingers throughout. I can see why everyone loves it, but Ambergris is always one I am wary of because to my nose this is too piercing, in a similar way that an overpowering clove can feel, in fact I feel like the drydown has cloves.

OMG this is so unbelievably awful! Cherry cough medicine, not the nice kind, just the sort you were forced to have as a kid that's got a really strong and unpleasant medicinal note with the cherry. If you want a nice unisex cherry, go for the Tom Ford one. If you want a sweet gourmand, go for Dua Cherry Custard Cake, which is sweet cherry and creamy vanilla, for something in between, Venom of Love is cherry chocolate

Nice cherry scent, ambiguous and realistic in the first seconds, but then the analog bitter cherry turns into high quality digital. Cherry molecule is supported by ambroxan with some naturals at the base to give the fragrance more depth. Dry woody texture represents the 'velvet' here and cypriol adds that signature Miller Harris 'sharpness' to cashmeran-ambroxan mix. As the time passes vanilla and dry green herbal-woody base becomes more prominent. Cherry still lingers with a distant base humm of leather accord. Awesome. Above average longevity, sits closer to the skin. Evening/colder weather fragrance for classier occasions.

@Emma92 to be honest big aromachemical corporations like Givaudan or IFF create and introduce new molecules and compounds to the market. Big names like Channel, Dior or Tom Ford gets exclusive first dibs, then, after the materials become more commonly available, everyone else follows with their own products featuring novelty stuff. The first ones coming out with innovative notes make the biggest splash and get the hype. It doesn't mean that the followers are worse in any way, it's just that they will always be measured and compared against the first one (TF Lost Cherry in this case).

To me, Velvet Cherry is exactly how I pictured Guerlains LPRN Black Perfecto to smell. Realistic. As the cherry in this is what I've been looking for all along. However,this is without the liquorice note, which I adore in Black Perfecto but, yet it still manages to have a deep, kinda quality to it, that works! So, go for it. Just go for it as Its gorgeous! Absolutely gorgeous and it was on sale in TK Maxx for £45 and I missed it. So I want to cry😢 but at the same time I'm glad that I got the opportunity to get a 10mls decant.

Does anyone also get that Violet and Leather combo with almost Fahrenheit like petrol quality, albeit sweeter and more to the Violet side of things? Also Cypriol gives this a strong backbone, well masked by all other ingredients. I think it is more powdery than juicy, multi-faceted, but only upclose. Overall - awesome!
