America Red Woman

This was my signature scent for years! It was a bright, long lasting rhubarb and patchouli scent, perfect for any weather/season/occasion. I believe it was a dupe for Ricci Ricci which I never got the chance to smell but I appreciate America Red as a stand alone fragrance anyway. I’ve had a few Milton Lloyd fragrances over the years and always enjoyed them. They were great, super affordable fragrances to put on if I was just nipping to the corner shop or taking the dogs for a walk. I think “cheap and cheerful” is a good way to describe them. Unfortunately America Red has been discontinued (as has Ricci Ricci) but I managed to find a few bottles on eBay so I have a few back up bottles now 🥳 Hopefully I can’t find a reasonably priced Ricci Ricci at some point so I can finally compare the two.

This has sweet and sour fruit. The rhubarb is tart, and sweet, and juicy. The patchouli is there, as is the tuberose, but for character, not in force. This has no dirtyness. It's clean, warm and enveloping. It is soft and bold at the same time, and it lasts and lasts. The price belies its performance and beauty. It's a real mood enhancer.

I've not tried ricci ricci but this is lovely... Very strong pineapple and patchouli. . I recently got back into milton lloyd perfumes and this was only £3.59 from amazon

Yes I certainly get Ricci Ricci with this perfume, it's a softer version and for me works better. Very fruity, and just the right level of Patchouli. Yesterday I wore it all day and something weird happened later on in the evening (and maybe after I stopped topping it up), it changed on my skin and I was racking my brain trying to think what it reminded me of- then it came to me:- Calvin Klein CKIN2U For Her. Lemon Meringue Pie! It would have been ok for wearing around the office but not to bed! Lesson learnt, but it hasn't put me off. I'll certainly be wearing this again- but daytimes only for me.

Initially I found this too light, so I stored it away for summer. Having set it out to be used recently, I've been surprised how much I like this perfume. It's sweet sticky pineapple at the outset; the sourness of rhubarb, then I'm getting the rose underneath that. I'm getting the sandalwood coming through on the base, I cannot smell patchouli at all. There's a lot going on here for such a cheap perfume! I'm really enjoying this, it is sweet and refreshing, and you can drown yourself in cool mist without offfending anyone. Don't let the price put you off, give it a try.

I enjoy wearing this very warm fruity scent in winter - on my coat sleeves/scarves it doesn't leave until washed off. Uplifting, enveloping and friendly with it's energetic rhubarb/pineapple focus.

This is a very cheap replica of Nina Ricci's Ricci Ricci edp and it smells it. The opening is sugary and syrupy probably due to the addition of the pineapple note. The rhubarb smells very artificial and is overpowered by the pineapple anyway. Ricci Ricci is elegant and spicy with the most well presented rhubarb I have ever smelt, and this replica doesn't even come close. The similarity starts when the tuberose kicks in, this is the part I don't enjoy in either of the two. I only purchased this in hopes that the tuberose here would be milder. It isn't, and they pretty much strangled the rhubarb with pineapple. The patchouli is nice when it comes through, but too mild to amplify projection and longevity. To sum up: it smells cheap, doesn't last long and doesn't project much. Maybe I'll use it as a room spray to justify the £5.

I think its the patchouli and the rhubarb wich makes this to me earthy, with a bit of a sweet flower scent added, a nice soft daytime fragrance.
