There's no better flanker than a dupe! Or at least this is the case when it comes down to the creations of Milton Lloyd. Almost dead-on, definitely Angelic [let's see how many puns I can fit in to this review...] dupe of the notorious / legendary Thierry Mugler perfume. As one reviewer already pointed out, the most significant difference is the missing caramel note - though I, myself, am not complaining. Although I can appreciate and admire the extravagant nature of TM's Angel, there's always been just too much going on for me and my nose. Whenever I thought I would finally come to understand the secret of Angel, the fruity caramel note on top of the scent of BO was surely there to make me doubt my senses. "People are actually able to wear this stuff? Wow, I don't know if I should be jealous or worried." How lucky was I to hear about Spirit of Heaven. This dupe has all the hallmark features of its guardian Angel - monster sillage, 10+ hour longevity, and the absolutely divine drydown of chocolate and vanilla. The first hours are stunningly similar to Angel's: patchouli overload combined with that easily recognizable "body odor" of musk, then honey and cotton candy, plus mild fruitiness from passionfruit in the background. The road to the heavenly chocolate drydown is not as rocky as in Angel, so yes, I would say this is easier to wear, more suitable for daytime use than the original. I can even detect the rose note after a while, what a nice surprise! ... Okay, I will admit this: I was jealous of those able to pull off Angel! So just imagine my enchantment when I finally wore this and got to witness the magical moment of pure sex and higher spirit that everyone's been talking about. With the price of this dupe ranging from 3 to 5 euros, there's simply no one I wouldn't recommend Spirit of Heaven to - even if you go wrong, well, the (financial) fall could be a lot worse! This is especially great option for those wanting to blind buy Angel against their better judgement (and everyone's advice). Spirit of Heaven could also make a wonderful daytime wear in case you are saving your precious Angel only for special occasions. To end this review simply (and quickly, since I wish to already be in my bed, snuggling into the scent of this): J'adore, Spirit of Heaven!

Bad_Girl_Bex I'm literally laughing out loud! Your review should win review of the year, haha! Definitely made my day! 😂😂😂 On to the review: Angel is my signature scent, she has been for 10+ years, and so, I've been another witness and victim of her most horrendous reformulations. Even if you haven't liked Angel for whatever reason, picture this for a moment... You get to know an amazing girl, with lots of charisma and personality, she is a force to be reckoned with! Many people are enthralled by her and admire her greatly. And some others either envy her or greatly hate her just for who she is. Therefore, given the current societal circumstances... She is not considered to be what a lady should behave or be, period. She does not fit in with the norm. So what do they do? In order to tone down her personality, so that she doesn't offend anyone anymore, and make her seem more 'polite' or standarized, blend her in beyond any possibility of turning back.... They do a lobotomy on her!!! 😱😱😱😱😱 She might appear to be the same, but she is just a shell of the greatness she once was.... This is what the current awful reformulation of my dear sweet Angel is, sadly. 😭😭😭 So imagine my surprise, when looking for a dupe, considering I have searched for many and have been really let down by all, I decided to try this one anyway... This is seriously a good dupe of my beloved Angel!! And it actually smells like the previous version, pre the most discusting reformulation to date. Hurray!! 🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉 Of course, it will never be a dupe of the original 1992 formula, but it still has the pow previous versions had, and I'm super excited about that!! 😍😍😍

Usually I like the Milton Lloyds enough on their own terms that I don't feel a compulsion to get the original, thought not without curiosity. Spirit of Heaven is such a strange fragrance that I felt I should before coming to anything like a conclusion. This is basically a dirty chocolate to me -- both plant dirt from the patchouli and animal dirt from the musk -- which makes it pretty unisex, if not masculine, in my book. The actual Angel has more notes and those are the more female-coded ones of especially caramel and a fruit basket which makes me get how this succeeds as a ladies' scent. Angel has some fruits I can't name but that perhaps I could with future applications. Anyway, Spirit of Heaven doesn't have the caramel (no bad thing for men wearing it) and no fruit beyond a vague tootyfrootiness that I am sure has no name. I find Milton Lloyds fruits nonspecific and sickly in general which ruins some of their more modern dupes but Spirit of Heaven/Angel's basic concept is wild enough to work with the vaguely sketched fruit notes they use.

Angel was such an influential perfume that inspired so many fruit-chouli copycats despite it being initially an strange curve ball type of fragrance. I think this leans a little bit more gourmand than the original Angel and is more towards the stunningly addictive Angel Eau Sucree which they infuriatingly discontinued after it's brief launch as a limited edition. I kicked myself forever for not buying it before it went but I get to fall in love with my wrist all over again with this one!! UPDATE: This alongside Monaco were stocking fillers this Christmas and although I really wanted to wear Monaco (Paris dupe) as it is an IDEAL Christmas fragrance...I also tried this on (on the other wrist) Don't get me wrong, Monaco is GORGEOUS with both stunning sillage and longevity but this one, THIS ONE.. is so addictive, I just had to put it on..had to!!

  • em inglês

I was HIGHLY sceptical of how a £5 perfume could possibly make an even half-way decent dupe for Angel. I'm actually stunned. If I did a blind test I doubt I'd be able to tell the difference at all. Also, the projection and sillage is absolutely INSANE.

  • em inglês

I just bought this today because I have always wanted to smell Angel and I would love to own it someday but it is not budget friendly. I read the reviews and decided to shell out the $5 USD. Not bad, not bad at all. This lasts forever and every time I move I get a whiff of myself and I smell freaking delicious! I don't smell chocolate but I'm not disappointed. I get the fruits, flowers and patchouli. I also get a nineties vibe going on with this perfume. Maybe growing up I smelled this on someone somewhere, I can't pinpoint exactly what, but it takes me back to my childhood. Lovely stuff. Edit: April 7th 2015 I now own Angel, and let me tell you, I can hardly tell the difference between Spirit of Heaven and Angel. They are really similar. Spirit of Heaven doesn't have the rotting fruit/body odor/dirt opening but there's no love lost there. You can just dab on Angel lightly and go crazy with Spirit of Heaven all over you. I doubt people will take offence, at least I hope they don't because this is exactly what I plan on doing. :)

  • em inglês

First off, I just want to say I'm not an Angel lover. If I was, I'd probably buy Angel (and it sounds like the true Angel lovers won't ever be satisfied with a dupe, so this review is not for them). This fragrance smells like someone who was wearing Angel just walked through the room, and you're smelling the room five minutes after. It smells like the afterglow of Angel. But that doesn't mean it's weak: for the first hour, Spirit of Heaven is very loud, but then it fades to a lovely enveloping sweetness and it sticks around for HOURS. I tend to make the mistake of overspraying cheap perfumes, assuming they're not as strong, but please don't do that with Milton Lloyd! You will choke everybody out!

  • em inglês

I waited for this to develop after the sharp citrus settled down. I swear there's grapefruit in it. Once on for half an hour, it developed into a gorgeous patchouli. I love patchouli - a hangover from my slightly hippie uni days burning Indian incense - and it is a real spirit lifter for me. If you love patchouli, I think you'll like this - a darn sight cheaper than Angel, which it is very similar to.

  • em inglês

Well, if someone likes angel, she will like this. It's almost dead-on dupe. Οf course, it is not as spicy and fruity as Angel. It misses my favorite apricot and caramel notes which I can distinct at Angel, but still a good dupe. Someone might think that is an Angel Flanker. It has big longevity and sillage as well

  • em inglês

The first impression does reminds me of Angel. There are some bits missing such as depth and richness of coumarin, chocolate but it's good enough to enjoy it as angel's close cousin. If it was EdP it would be a constant part of my collection. Longevity poor. Useful only on wrists and neck.

  • em inglês

I blind bought this, expecting it to be a bit iffy...but I was truly impressed how similar this is to Angel. I'd actually say it has a similar scent but is stronger and a bit more chocolatey, at least on my skin. Pretty impressive!

  • em inglês

For me it smells just like Angel by Thierry Mugler. Long lasting! Super affordable option!💙😍

I really fricking hate Star Wars. Seriously. It's the film equivalent of fingernails being dragged down the chalkboard of my soul. Not just the new, woke, Jar Jar Abrams & Car Crash Kennedy ones; not just the episodes 1-3. I hate all of them. Everything about them. Nothing about them is remotely entertaining or redeeming. They just suck. Flash back in time to 2013. It was the new MotoGP season and Motorcycle News were running their annual 'Fantasy MotoGP' thing where you have to pick two riders from the 1st, 2nd & 3rd race line-ups and see how many points your choices could accrue over the season. I'm not really a betting person (especially fruit/slot machines - the Scottish blood/raging starvo in me hates putting money into a machine and not getting a Snickers Bar or a can of Pepsi out of it) but me & Doug decided to have a little wager to see which of us could finish with the higher score at the end of the season. Loser had to carry out a forfeit of the winner's choice. Long story short(ish)...I lost. So I had to carry out the forfeit Doug chose. And being the total sadist that he is, he decided that as my 'punishment' I had to watch the ENTIRE Star Wars franchise (as it was way back in 2013) from beginning to end. Only not really from beginning to end because Doug - being a Star Wars (of yore) fan, expected me to watch them all in the order they were released. So we had to go 4,5,6,1,2,3. Urgh, whatever. Anyway, the whole thing was excruciating. I kept rolling my eyes, sighing and looking over at Doug with a "you really find this crap entertaining?" eyebrows-raised kinda look. First of all, the whole thing was just so depressingly long, I was seriously thinking of just bashing my head against the sink during a bathroom break, to get out of having to watch any more. But I'm a trooper, y'all. And I stick by my word. So I endured it. And by the end of it, as we emerged from the marathon from hell, back into the land of the no-longer-being-forced-to-sit-through-absolute-trash, I realised that I now possessed sufficient knowledge to really bash this gash-fest from a much more informed position. And if that ain't a good reason to endure something awful, then I don't know what is. But that little perk aside, the experience was so harrowing, it rated up there alongside having to pass kidney stones in hospital (because stupid ass me, not realising what they were, just kept trying to take painkillers and plod on at work until the point where the pain took my legs out from under me) but at least in hospital, they gave me some super-awesome drugs and a lot of the time passed by in a morphine-addled blur. No drugs were provided in order for me to get through Star Wars. I went in raw with that shit. Back in 2013 I thought that I had endured pretty much all of the most diabolical mental and physical anguish that one person could cope with. I'd done my stint. It was all uphill from that point on. But then today I received in the post, a bottle of this perfume. I'd bought it on a whim when I had about a fiver left on a gift card and needed something cheap and cheerful to use it up. Recently, a friend of Doug's (who owns a perfume business in Germany) was talking with me about my personality, my colouring and my fragrance preferences and when I asked him for a recommendation, he suggested Angel. GAH! Aw...honey...naw...I told him that I'd tried wearing it many, many, years ago, but that it just didn't work with me. He said I needed to wear it a few times, not just try a test on my wrist in-store, because it's a real 'developer'. So, me thinking the perfume dude might know best, decided to try Angel again. But I wasn't going to buy a bottle of the real deal. No, for some reason, stupid-ass me thought that it would be a good idea to try a dupe (of one of the perfumes which is notoriously hard for faker-makers to imitate) to try and see if I could get along with wearing that one for a bit. Enter Milton Lloyd's 'Spirit of Heaven'. I saw on here that quite a few people were really complimentary about his Angel dupe...and being the gullible twerp I am, I just bought it. So, Like I said, it arrived in the post today. I picked up the parcel on my way out of the house to the chemist, having already lashed a good half-gallon of TF Lost Cherry all over my wrists/neck/hair/coat/soul, opened it and went to give myself a wee spritz on the back of my hand...forgetting that these are pressurised containers which will blast out a whole 5ml of product, before you've even registered what's going on. Yeah...this stuff just COVERED my entire hand. And the cuff of my coat. And then it hit me. BAM! Immediately it was a toxic fume mess throwing out notes of Hibiscrub and Lemon Pledge, with a frightful whack of kerosene or turpentine to boot. AAARRGGHH! HOW AM I GOING TO GET THIS STANK BREW OFF ME?? I couldn't. I was already out the door heading down to the bus stop. I had no time to remove it. I just had to hope that this being a cheapie, the longevity would be crap and it would quickly dry down/wear off. Ha ha. Nope. I had to get on the bus with this retch-inducing funk wafting off me in the direction of anyone unfortunate enough to get within 10ft of me. WHY DID I DO THIS TO MYSELF? I could have cried. Not only did I smell like a recently deep-cleaned hospital wing, but that one squirt had eradicated every noticeable trace of Lost Cherry...the smell I'm currently obsessed with. *sob* I had to go to the chemist, wait for my meds and the whole time I kept getting wafts and gusts of 'Spirit of Heaven' as it morphed and changed and went through a strange evolution of fetid misbehaviour on my skin. Granted, that initial chemical weapon vibe did die down somewhat, to the point where the merest hint of vanilla appeared and then disappeared, leaving what seemed to be a synthetic patchouli scent mixed up in a weird masculine aquatic note. I was out for about an hour and a half. As I was waiting to get the bus back, I was so sick of getting this smell drifting up into my nose, I had a root around in my bag where I had a roller-ball bottle of Al-Rehab Choco Musk and proceeded to smear an ungodly amount of the oil all over the area where the 'SOH' had been applied. Which DID improve matters a LOT. It actually blended together and after a minute it all came together and a familiar scent hit me. This is what Angel smells like. Oh yeah, I remember Angel. Thanks, I hate it. When I got home I immediately started to tell Doug the tale of how I'd nearly killed my olfactory senses (and general will to live) with my scent-intensive escapades. He asked to smell my wrist, which had now calmed down even more and just smelled like Angel, before saying "I actually quite like that." WTF DUDE? And then I remembered something that someone else had once told me. That men seem to love the smell of Angel on women, whilst fewer women genuinely like it themselves. The guy who had recommended it to me was obviously recommending a scent that HE liked. Grr And so it was, today, that just like that time when I was forced to watch the entirety of the Star Wars franchise (as a form of punishment) I found myself going through one of the most harrowing moments in my fragrance-experimenting life, only to turn around and see that the very thing that had been torturing me, was pleasurable to Doug - the absolute unit. What is the point to this story? It's a cautionary tale. A tale about how that which may be pleasant to others can be torturous to us. And a tale about how you should NEVER spray any of these Milton Lloyd perfumes on your person, if you're not in a position to go scrub them off with sandpaper & bleach. I still hate Star Wars. It's practically the worst thing I've ever experienced. Worse even than kidney stones. But damn it if both those things don't pale into comparison to my nightmarish day out smelling of 'Spirit of Heaven'. Sure it's cheap, so a blind buy isn't going to break the bank or make you cry when you find yourself at the mercy of the kind of chemical weapons that even Saddam Hussein would have refused to use against the Kurds. Try it out at home. In the safety and security of your own private space. Preferably in the bathroom. A well ventilated bathroom. Good luck. Oh and in case anyone cares, the following year, I really did my research on the newer riders coming up through the ranks of the Superbike circuits, war-gamed the frick out of my choices and came out on top of our division, beating Doug's ass so severely he just didn't want to play anymore. Because if losing that bet taught me anything it was that I should never allow myself to get caught up in a wager that I'm not likely to win. Lessons learned folks. Lessons learned. FIN.

  • em inglês

I never learn. Something in Angel makes me sneeze and I have to scrub it off. Pity really because I love the smell. I thought I'd chance my arm with ML Spirit of Heaven thinking it might be a lighter, more manageable version. How wrong could I be. I think it's the Jasmine. Major sneezing fit, and not just me, the whole house was sneezing away, including the dogs. Typically the longevity was amazing, still sneezing at bedtime. Not for me I'm afraid and ML Chacal still my absolute favourite so far.

  • em inglês

I don't like this perfume at all. I own the original angel as well but damn this one doesn't come close too Angel at all. Maybe it's my nose but this perfume is very masculine eau de cologne smell to it with a little sucker. The original is all sucker but in a nice way and totally feminine. So i'm searching again to find me a cheaper good dupe of Angel because mine is almost used up and i can't afford a new original.

  • em inglês

Can't comment on longevity as i didn't have this on for long. It's certainly strong, but the initial spray for me had something really off putting in it. Had to wash it off. Gave this to my sister and she said it's really nice. It's ridiculously cheap, so worth trying. Just not for me.

  • em inglês

I'm a sucker for a perfume with chocolate or praline notes, and my best friend used to religiously wear Angel way back in the day so it's a nostalgic accent for me, so when I came across Spirit of Heaven while looking through the Milton Lloyd dupes list, I thought 'hell yes!' Hell no. It arrived, I sprayed a small amount on my chest and inner elbows (being very careful, as I know how ML perfumes spray like a firehose) and promptly regretted my decision. All I get from this perfume is musk. Petrolly musk that made me wish I couldn't smell anything at all. I gave it a few hours to see if it would evolve, but it was just awful. No chocolate notes, none of the Angel goodness that I remembered, just hell. I came on here and saw the amazing review by Bad_Girl_Bex where she said she put Al Rehab Choco Musk over the top, so I thought, 'let's scrub this off, and put that on instead' I scrubbed my skin with a face cloth and plenty of soap and water, added the Choco Musk, and nope, still the SOH clung on for dear life. I actually liked it now though, but definitely not enough to go through the rigmarole of spraying, washing off and applying another perfume. I'll never be wearing this again. Thankfully it was less than a fiver!

  • em inglês

To me this does not smell like Angel at all! I hate the smell and the spray nozzle makes it easy to spray far too much and run out very quickly. I also find the bottle design very tacky even for such a cheap perfume, I'm suprised that I find it so bad considering the other reviews but this is one of my least favourite perfumes - even compared to body mists. It doesn't leave as sweet as a smell as Angel to me so that may be why I don't like it since I'm so biased towards sweet smells as they're often stronger.

  • em inglês

This perfume is not for me at all... to me, it smells like a public bathroom that has just been cleaned but the smell of public bathroom is still there. after a while a patchouli scent is left but i really do not like this. Luckily it was super cheap and tbh i only bought it because i read it was an alien dupe but uhhh nope. they are lairs. i do LOVEEEE the spray top very lovely for a room mist or for clothes will try other scents from this brand because of the top.

  • em inglês

Has nothing to do with Angel. I cannot believe how many people are saying it's a dupe. It's absolutely horrendous, and even though it's cheap, it's not worth buying. Yucky!

  • em inglês

Not a bad copy of Angel but not the best Milton Lloyd perfume either. To be fair, I think Angel must be a hard one to clone because I've got some perfume clones that you absolutely cannot tell the difference, perfume snobs would say you can but I'd love to put them through a controlled blind test and see if they could. When it comes to Angel though, there's always just something off about it, they can never seem to get it quite right. They can get really close but there's always something, even for me who loves clones, that's just really hard to perfect with Angel. If I remember correctly with this one it's not as sweet and it's more heavy on the patchouli, less gourmand, but in the air it'd just smell like Angel and some people might even prefer it that way. It certainly smells more like the og Angel than some of the flankers, (I'm looking at you Angel Elixir) and to be totally fair, I didn't smell the very, very, first versions of Angel so this could very well smell exactly like that did. It was the late 90s before I smelled it. I'd have to try it again to really be specific about it and I'm sure they sell it in a shop near me so I think I will. I tried the FM version of Angel recently and didn't think it was very good, this one is closer and cheaper. In general, ML are a great brand, their clone of TF Black Orchid is beautiful. The dry down of that one is absolutely stunning and lasts days on clothes so they're good quality for the price.

  • em inglês

Bonkers! I've recently fallen pretty hard for Angel; I'm saving up for the real thing, but not being too good at the old delayed gratification thing, I decided to get this as a stand-in until I was able to afford the genuine article. I didn't have high hopes; I mean, it cost me £3.99 so how good could it be? Not very, I imagined, but curiosity and impatience got the better of me, and, well..... I'm pretty fanned impressed! The VERY first blast (literally the first five seconds) are pure alcohol but then it settles down and develops into, well, ANGEL. It's got the dirty patch, super-dark chocolate and incense all going on, just like the real thing. And the sillage is pretty good - not quite as enormous as the edp, but that's not always a bad thing. I'm comparing it with what's left of my Angel sample and they really are almost identical. I think when I get my 'real' Angel, I'll get another of these for daytime use and keep the Mugler for special occasions. Angel-lovers, DO try this! I think you'll be pleasantly surprised! I'm going to get the Rush copy next - in fact, I'm having a 'grown-up' slumber party next month; I may just get a few of these so we can have a laugh working out which pricier fragrances they are trying to be! Very impressed that these guys have managed to create such a good dupe on such a low budget. Can't decide who is the bigger genius - Mugler or Milton Lloyd!

  • em inglês

I’ve only recently smelled ‘Angel’ on a couple of people after being completely unimpressed by ‘Angel Violet’ in an upmarket French perfumerie. They seemed to think I’d like that! Lol. I must admit I want keen on ‘Angel’ but this passes for it without that icky ‘Sherbert lemon’ note so I’m enjoying wearing it. To be honest my once fantastic sense of smell has greatly dimmed in the past few years possibly the effect of blood pressure tablets so I need something I can REALLY smell and this is it. I like it.

  • em inglês

I'm on my fourth bottle of this. It was love at first smell for me. To me it smells initially of rotting fruit and body odour but in the most unusual delicious way. It's sour and gorgeous! I apply it generously in the morning and it lasts all day. I've received many compliments when wearing this and once a man randomly asked me if I was wearing Angel. I said yes ha ha! I will continue to repurchase this.

  • em inglês

This smells just like Angel, I smelt Angel years ago and hated it. I recently got sent a sample and I fell in love with it. I found this and bought it on amazon as the reviews were good. Milton doesn't disappoint, this smells just like Angel, I can't tell the difference. it lasts too, I woke up in the morning and could still smell the perfume. It's beautiful.

  • em inglês

@BadGirlBex - AWED wahey! Your review wins the internet today and probably all week! *This* is how to write a review! Splendid work - even though I don't agree with you in general about either Star Wars or Milton Lloyd - both of which have their moments. Thank you for brightening my morning.

  • em inglês

Wowee this really captures the first edition of angel in the 90s, the sweaty powdery edible sweetness. Not as much cocoa but I’m more than happy for a fiver. Goes quiet after an hour but that hour is gorgeous. The amen version lasts longer and is almost as nice.

  • em inglês

Well, since I praised this I wore it again a couple of times and detected a distinct ‘lighter fuel, petrol’ smell when I first sprayed. I shall leave it for a bit

  • em inglês

Softer, fluffier, sweeter than Angel Like if Muglers star got its patchouli contained, on a leash 😄😁

  • em inglês

Just like Angel, warm and sexy with all the dark chocolate and spice you could want.

  • em inglês

Copy +paste of angel... Bloody cheap excellent clone... Nothing else to say
