Man. I love the shit out of this scent. It's beautiful. I grew up next to the ocean. And this is the fizziest, sparkly, most enlivening rendition of fresh ocean air that I've ever experienced. It's cooling and refreshing and jarringly real. Totally transportative. That fresh fizzy ocean breeze comes smashing off the top and then pops up mysteriously as with a change of the winds in the dry down. As it starts to dry down it feels like we've moved our spice enthralled campfire further inland out of the cold sea air. @queerderussie really nailed the effect describing it as tendrils or mini tornadoes of scent that pass and go away and come back again whimsically. But cold ocean air in the scent moves brilliantly in an out of a spicy gourmandish ensemble of warming, mouth watering, celebratory feast. Like we've been surfing all day in the cold ocean and we're eating a bunch of amazing indian/arabian deserts after getting stoned next to our camp fire. It's just. Amazing. I feel alive, free, creative, and engaging with this scent on. I'm definitely getting a bottle of this. This is one of those niche scents that is worth the price tag. I wish it was cheaper because I'd wear it all the time. But it's still worth it, because there's nothing like it. And it's totally amazing. I've decided I'll always have this in my collection. I hope they always make it. At some point I'll stock up on it when they have a holiday sale for their members. This is also an amazing store. The coolest place to shop for scents ever. It's like a private club. And the sales people are experts. If you're in New York, you gotta stop by this place. Super cool people. I've seen the owners interviewed on youtube and they were just as cool in person. They remind me of Andy Tauer's vibe in terms of how they properly engage their audience--just chill, down to earth, creative, and artistic people.

Being living in Egypt I visited Dahab, South Sinai many times almost every year I go there.... Without reading the inspiration and story behind this fragrance I would not immediately associate the smell with Dahab. After reading the story I began to imagine and appreciate how artistic this fragrance is to capture the hot sands, the breeze of salty sea the warmth of fire bons and the spice of Egyptian food. It might be my mind tricking me after reading the inspiration. Yes, Maybe but this fragrance is now associated with my fav city and brings me joy and happiness upon wearing it. One of the best winter subtle scents you can ever acquire.

Finally got a full bottle. One of the first niche fragrances I tried and really loved. Now that I'm not trying to use it sparingly from samples and gave myself a full 5-7 sprays, it really comes to life. More spice predominant than if lightly sprayed. Lasts all day. The initial oceanic opening fades to incense, an amalgam of spices, a touch of oud, for a long dry down. Beautiful throughout. I'm really happy to have a bottle after years of thinking about it and trying the samples every so often. This house really has some interesting stuff. I really like Old School Bench and Magic Circus in addition to this one. Give them a try.

Its a stunning unisex fragrance which me and my wife loves it!! The essence of sun soaked shores and vibrant desert landscapes. With its refreshing citrus notes and warm, earthy undertones, it offers a perfect balance of energy and tranquility!

This is fantastic stuff...to me it has a L`Air du Desert Marocain feel to it...full bottle worthy for sure. *****/5 So warming and inviting...truly 1 of my favs for 2014...if not my fav.

Actually now that I'm wearing it 2 hours in i get histories amrarem mixed with farenheit that's exactly what it smells like 8/10

This has a pure malt/petroleum smell to it. Almost like thick tar meets heavy leather and they had a child I love it

A refined oud, warm spice, metallic shimmer, bitterish green feel and an incense-laden tarry Russian leather quality. Sophisticated, warm but dark... Labdanum or things that could give a leather feel aren't listed in the notes, or maybe the oud and saffron combo pushed me in that direction. An insanely mysterious and dark scent. It wraps around you like a warm embrace while also giving you that feeling of standing at the edge of a cliff, about to fall. I have a story for this one: This is the story of the Sand Sarcophagus Magus who has awoken in an ancient necropolis... He used to be a tomb scholar, but his current goal is to collect mirages into an obsidian orb and travel to the forbidden library beneath the desert to study what he's gathered in deep contemplation. After his long slumber in the necropolis, he wakes up and shakes the sand off himself. His black leather strip-layered garments are still magnificent... He has a long hooded plum velvet embroidered cloak, and he pulls it on over himself, starting to walk in the cool night desert. His purpose is to collect the hidden mirages that haunt lost souls during the day, gathering them at night. There's one up ahead... he approaches, sneaking the obsidian orb close enough to pull in the shadows of dead scribes, snatching them up... a few more. Then with his special words he opens the gate to the forbidden library beneath the sand, descending into the darkness along with the pouring sand. The dry, smoky, ritualistic, seductive scent of the library... Ancient grimoires standing sealed and untouched... Incredibile perfume. It starts so fresh and masculine, like an old classic cologne for men, but after few minutes the fresh notes disappear and the whole thing leans more feminine and flowery. Finally, the drydown is sweet and creamy. From the very beginning, til the end, there's a strong background that reminds me of one of my favorite whiskeys, Laphroaig 10y. Skin scent clean and sassy. This is a very good perfume, it has so many layers. Recommended if you're into Arab fragrances and smoky notes. For strong men and female pirates.

To anyone Finnish or Scandinavian out there: this evokes memories about seaside saunas and even smoke saunas. More precisely the breaks in between löylys, when the smoky scent of the sauna is combined with the surroundings. I’d say this reminds me more of Patchouli 24 than Bois d’Ascese. In the opening - what I get is a; salty ocean breeze accord, incense, cypress and a bouquet of flowers. It feels like a deep dark aquatic at first, very elegant and refined. But after a few minutes the heaviness of the incense completely takes over, which vaguely resembles Bois D'Ascese. This phase, however, is short lived (thankfully) and ultimately, Dahab becomes a saffron-induced, synthetic-oud scent with heavy benzoin and patchouli. Unfortunately, it gets sweeter by the minute, which is often the effect of too much benzoin, and becomes too unbalanced and cloying for my taste. Oh, well.

This is a strong masculine scent builded around the note of smoke with heavy myrrh and a sub-sweet vibe that becomes stronger as time passes. This is not a safe scent and you won't walk through people unnoticed. Heavy & strong smoke is what you get from the first spray. It's on your face type of scent. The smell of smoke lives till the end becoming slightly sweet as time passes. I don't get incense not even traces. But I get heavy smoky myrrh mixed with a shortlived note of melted plastic, benzoin, good quality cumin, nutmeg, amber and weak saffron. At the final part when it dies I get a much toned down but still dominant smoke with sub-sweet amber/benzoin. There is no oud, there's no sea note but only tiny traces that you can feel them only after seeing the note pyramide. The longevity is nice 8-9 hours. The sillage and the projection are huge at the opening. My friend couldn't breathe near me, strong stuff. But as time passes it becomes moderate. After 3,5-4 hours it stays close to the skin. Overal is a quality scent, well blended but it's not for all. I like the concept, I like the note combo but it's not for me. Good stuff here, try if you like smoke.

Tried recently and could only muster one word to describe it: Derivative. It seemed to have tried to evoke Tauer's L'Air du Desert Marocain, but it never quite makes it to that level and fell apart rather quickly for me. Between spice, incense, oud, sea notes, and the other elements, the melange of it became less a Marrakesh market experience and more a quest to decide what it really wanted to be. @Arabian Knight was fairly apt in his analogy. Since I had the opportunity to review this while in Paris recently, it was an overpriced value proposition for that market based on the composition and inspiration. Missed the mark for me.

This is less bustling Moroccan spice market and more like a dark, stuffy motel room suffused with cigarette smoke. The pepper, nutmeg and cumin give the arid texture of worn musty carpet. A leathery saffron and medicinal tinges of oud mimic some cheap varnished furniture, while the incense permeates like a thick cloud of ash and mold. It's dull, dark and depressing.

Dahab is a former Bedouin fishing village on the southeast coast of Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula that’s a popular tourist destination, especially for diving. The name translates to “gold,” yet the synesthetic impression of the perfume is more of a coppery silk. It’s a phenolic, quasi-exotic scent in which smoked woods and spices are cast as the main players with emphasis on the spice—specifically nutmeg. There’s a slight culinary twist, and a hint of Black Agar-style sweetness, but those facets are suppressed beneath what is essentially an olfactory portrait of a bustling spice market. Warm, balanced, yet restrained, a leathery saffron pairs with the nutmeg to produce bustling dynamics. As the scent settles, it becomes a tad simple with the spices burning off to reveal a circumspect cedar, but it’s comfortable all the same.

The notes are all wrong. It’s dusty leather with underlying hints of green. Picture Hard Leather by LM and Oud Cuir D’Araby without the barnyard quality. Or picture Tom Ford Tuscan Leather without the fruity note. On a side note: Fragrance notes are mostly subjective. When they list official notes, they are trying to suggest a way of interpreting what they’ve concocted. Moreover, they usually suggest notes that are considerably different from the ones you initially perceived with your very own nose. Remember how your English teacher was always able to read all kinds of ridiculous subtleties into a straightforward line of poetry? Official perfume notes are like that.
