SHAMAN

It's one of the most underrated fragrances in the Min New York lineup in my opinion, but it packs a wallop for those who love dark, loud and long lasting scents. I remember going to the boutique to pick up Coda after having extensively sampled the line up the previous week but ended up getting this one instead. True to its name, Shaman smells like a healing ceremony involving smoke from a bunch of dried traditional herbs. I imagine dried rose petals every time I wear it. Amazing scent for cooler months. I quit smoking years ago but I feel this is the kind of fragrance that smells great on a smoker. 🖤

amazing love cardamom in it i was told that this perfume smells like an expensive leather car salon, and i definitely can relate. upd. I absolutely in love with this one. Never smelled anything similar. I ordered a 15ml bottle, but I guess it will become my signature one. This perfume is a true cyberpunk dream. (the ozonic touch is great) upd2. I checked 19 testers of 23 that Min New York ownes. Shaman is a best one. Outstanding. Can't believe it has such a relatively low rating compared with other MNY perfumes.

I recently tried Shaman MiN perfume, and I'm absolutely in love with it! The scent is unique, refreshing, and lasts all day without being overpowering. It's the perfect balance of earthy and fresh, making it ideal for any occasion. Definitely a must-try for anyone looking to elevate their fragrance game! My fav fragrance till now...

One of my best. Oak moss, violet, patchouli.. Very nice.

I wanted to write this right after Lilyphéa because it also has that nose-opening ozonic violet leaf and cardamom duo :) (I'm aware it's older than that one, but I'm only just getting around to it now :)) Picture a pond with cheerful, innocent, sparkling nymphs dancing on the surface... But but... Underneath this pond there's a dark, hidden room. Inside, a shaman is secretly making a balm from an earthy, incense-like patchouli and honey combination. To get down to this room, the shaman parts the water and drops through a muddy chute into their secret den. In here, herbal ingredients hang on the walls, and a familiar crew made up of various animal spirits is banging away on drums, a deep, resonant, and earthy feel... boom boom boom. The walls of the room are fully painted with some sigils and there are dream catchers hanging from the ceiling. That dark honeyed earthy patchouli scent has seeped into everything in the room, and it bubbles up to the surface of the pond above, gurgling its way through the water. The secret eyes (and secret noses) that have come to watch the nymphs dancing around the pond are getting hit by both the fresh aquatic aroma and this heady, heavy honeyed patchouli all mixed together. Beautiful unisex scent, almost natural feeling, suitable for spring/summer, day and night. Long lasting with moderate sillage. It is completely different from Christian Dior Fahrenheit which was my signature scent. Not even close. I feel that the note pyramide is slightly wrong. At the opening I get clearly cardamom and some rose. There is also smooth styrax, ambergis, very smooth violet leaf and very mild honeyed incense feeling. Overall the smell of Shaman is almost the same with some big white flowers (I don't know the name) which are near my house in the forest. This is why I'm saying that it's almost natural smell with the additoon of this honeyed incense vibe. I must try it again. Maube it's a fb worthing. Update If you like the smell of sambucus nigra blossoms you may also like Shaman.

Interesting darkish floral incense scent. It opens with notes of orange, violet leaf and slight cardamom. The heart is frankincense, labdanum, nutmeg and rose. The perfume settles into a powdery patchouli base with hints of ambergris, honey and styrax. The masculine leaning scent has moderate to strong projection and good longevity. Recommended for dark brooding and mysterious personalities. Nicely done but not hugely exceptional. Enjoy!

Never trust a person who wears this. It's all floral and nice and bubbly, but there's a dark undertone there, like a knife hidden in one's boot. There's so much more to it than the airy and aquatic opening. Definitely a fragrance that creates contradictory emotions in one's head. Wear it if you want to confuse people. It's smack in the middle unisex, so don't bother deciding whether it's for you or for the opposite gender.

Dark incense, patchouli then something almost ambery underneath with a hint of the sweeter spices, ginger/cinnamon maybe? Or allspice? And a rounded sweetness like vanilla? Like s newer and more modern take on Opium. Very nice, I'd like to own a bottle!

I was hoping to love this fragrance because of the name. It's sweet, clean, soapy. Nothing "shamanic" in the smell. Gentle, office safe, feminine.

I've been trying a lot of Min and this was, by far, my least favorite. It looks from the notes that I would love it - but there is something very animalic in this. Almost a fecal musk.

In the same general style as Fahrenheit and Portrayal Man. All three have this ozonic, soapy violet leaf connected by different things in the base. Dior has the leather and melange of spicy florals. Portrayal Man has the deep, smoky green vetiver and mossy cypriol thing going on. This goes towards an aromatic, salty ambergris direction. I would say they're not individually good substitutes for eachother, but they're takes on a similar theme. That's the macro view. Into the details- this has a mild BO from the ambergris-labdanum accord that I don't typically enjoy. Some quality of it comes off like celery and saliva. It's never truly bad, and thanks to the rose materials it stays in a realm of dewy fresh aquatics that teeters between challenging and mildly pleasent. Overall it has that salty edge that colors this more like a marine fragrance, with a somewhat brittle incense running through it. It ends up being a little spicy and earthy with a aqueous mildew-like quality that could all be an extension of the patchouli. Geosmin, wet earth, and just a generally damp demeanor. That's where the Baie 19 reference comes into view, but I wouldn't have gone there if not seeing it suggested up above. For that muted patchouli aroma it reminds me of Portrayal Man over Farhenheit, but I like the Amouage perfume more. Still I'm glad I checked this out and it's a decently good option for anyone into Min's niche stylings that likes violet leaf.

A mannered floral that’s driven almost entirely by a prominent candied violet with a stemmy edge. There’s something a little antiquated about this that makes it feel ironic—anachronistic, but self-aware and quite pop. As with several from the collection, this one’s rendered gourmand by its candied nature. To me, it smells like the way Choward’s violet candy tastes: a tad chalky, dry, and yet ultra-vivid. As it mellows, the sweetness takes over and the violet is pressed into a two-dimensional form that lasts for the rest of the scent’s life. It’s a decent enough violet, although perhaps pitched as a tad too saccharine and frivolous for my liking. Like Long Board, the association to the name evaded me on this one as it doesn’t strike me as particularly mystical or meditative. There is incense involved, but I struggled to get beyond the violet to really appreciate it. Although it’s not for me, this is a big, cheery, uplifting violet scent with some sweet resonance.

Shaman is an exquisite, sophisticated and elegantly refined violet scent with all of the nuances of the highest perfume, carefully smoked and spiced at a cool temperature. This fragrance illustrates vintage luxury, with patchouli stabilizing the balsamic features. Shaman also features a cool marine accord that adds a sense of calmness. A delicate feature that's akin to a "splash" when put near your nose. The oceanic accord is very subtle and detectable upon initial application. Beyond the opening, the subdued patchouli is soft but not as earthy as you would expect. The pulchritude can't be denied. This is as mysterious as it is fleeting which is probably the reason why this hasn't been reviewed since 2015.

This fragrance will be part of my "Killer" accessories when attending power meetings. The patchouli is subdued, yet with enough presence to keep it on the masculine side - the violet adds a feminine touch, which keeps it out of the brute realm, asserting the importance of smarts over force. The incense makes it mysterious enough, as to saying; "I got more". The blend is superb chemically and artistically. Next month I have some meetings where, I know for sure I will be the only one wearing Shaman- Unique alright! The entire line of Min NY with Scent Stories is for people who are sure of themselves - Buyer beware!!!

Interesting. I'm not a huge fan of violet, usually I find it too harsh and medicinal, but its presence here, after it settles, is quite delicate. It has a pleasant freshness. The incense is not particularly heavy either, more like a thin trail. It's very wearable, feminine and young. The image I have in my head is of a pretty 20-something hippy wearing a squeaky leather jacket suffused with incense and chewing violet flavored gum.

Here's another MiN that could have been a winner if just more appropriately priced. This is basically a straight-forward violet leaves fragrance with subtle aquatic facets built around a smooth incense and patchouli base. Leafy and balmy. Very simple, and yet very likable. It could basically be the next hypothetical Fahreneit flanker. My point is, would you pay 240 bucks for a Fahrenheit flanker? Rating: 6.5-7/10

This was love at first sniff for me. It’s currently my signature scent and i can’t get enough of it!! That dry, dirty, earthy, violet note it’s mind blowing. Sooo good! Performs quite well with 8+ hours longevity and 3-4 hours of decent projection. It’s a unique scent profile like the majority of the fragrances from Mint New York.

A diluted Promise in the drydown, The transition of the green and fresh violets into the balmy and earthy patchouli is beautiful. Stays close to the skin. Fougere touches.

Tested on my arm, nice scent a little soapy and skin type: not so interesting to me .
