VOODOO

I was strolling along the Bloomingdale’s fragrance dept. one day when the nicest gentleman came up to me to talk about the house of Min New York. I had never heard of it until then and he proceeded to let me sample some of their scents. Out of all of them there was something so interesting about Voodoo. It is a very dark smokey leathery scent. Very refined and smooth. Very similar to black afgano which I also love. There is a slight green undertone admist all the smoke though which makes it feel earthy and grounded. I’ve to come to learn that this scent is meant to replicate Bukhoor, ‘wood chips that have been soaked in perfume oil and that are mixed with other (natural) ingredients, such as natural resin, sandlewood and essentials oils.’ It is very very sensual and alluring and like one reviewer said, an Uplifting scent. It will get u attention. The oud as well as leather is very prominent making this a very masculine scent although it is meant to be unisex. I think it would work better on a guy but I could be wrong. Anyways if oud and leather is your thing mixed with other resins and patchouli then you really can’t go wrong with this fragrance. It is like a piece of art. The more u wear it the more you get out of it. Two thumbs way up!!!!

I thought my favorite from this line was Dahab, but I was wrong- MiN's newest scent Voodoo is universally my favorite at this point. It's intoxicating. It's captivating. And best of all, I feel STRONG wearing this scent. It's rich, but not overwhelming, and has so many layers to it that I've gotten both women and men asking me where I've purchased it. Total winner. LOVE IT.

I had put this down as unnecessary since I own Creed Royal Oud but every time I come back to this sample my view is changing. I think this is the superior scent. It's magic. I don't give a shit that it doesn't smell like Haiti, this stuff rocks.

it’s reminds me of Horoof from Arabian Oud shop ..the shop in US at Times squares NYC it’s long lasting ..but i don’t know if it is stronger than Voodoo or not but for sure it’s cheaper price

Very intimate fragrance. Sweet leather, incense spice, and just enough freshness. Reminds me of a midnight adventure. For special occasions only.

Does anyone know a frag that is similar to this one and is cheaper? Thanks. Anyway this fragrance is on another level...

Dark and intriguing though a little too heavy on the patchouli to wear to work.

Min New York’s Vodoo is a great sweet leather and oud scent. It’s a very dark and compelling scent. Off the top it’s a very cardamom heavy scent with a bit of a pepper. With the dry down you get this dark oud and leather scent, alongside a strong patchouli note. This fragrance lasts about 8-9 hours and projects quite decently. From my usage of this scent it’s a quiet well complimented fragrance. It’s a good winter and fall fragrance, quite good for work due to its Oud note making it a powerful and mysterious fragrance to wear. I think it’s priced about 300 dollars, not sure exactly what the price is. I think due to its great dry down you get something quite good at its price point. Although yes there are better oud scents within this price range such as Penhaligon’s halefti leather or Cairo I do think that the patchouli note and its top notes make it quiet unique. starts out extremely herbal in a way i don't enjoy (it reminds me of cough syrup) but gets very nice after the first half hour or so, when the incense note really shows, and remains pleasant until the end - which unfortunately comes pretty soon because this does NOT last long. overall, a darker, edgier sort of scent and i like it for what it is, but the opening and subpar performance keep me from *loving* it.

This is super manly, with heavy patch, oud, leather and sandalwood notes, plus olibanum and geranium. Wow. It has a spicy sweet heart, though, and a balsamic overture I find very pleasant. Too harsh on me, but I would love to smell it on a man.

Smells ok for 30 mins. after that I could not detect it at all. terrible terrible performance.

I hate to rain on MiN's parade, but why did they design a fragrance after an Arabian incense and then name it after an Afro-Caribbean religion? This just seems like an ignorant and clumsy move at best -- if not downright culturally insensitive. My hometown is a city where voodoo is still practiced, and frankly, this kind of pisses me off.

It was a blind buy as a present and I am also someone who likes to explore different perfumes. So, the present is for someone who loves Black Afgano and he, my cousin wore it before. It certainly got this vibe from what I remember. It's definitely unisex and my friend, who is a gal wants it for herself as well. I think a strong woman can definitely pull this one off. I love Pardon more than Black Afgano and therefore this perfume is a bit too sweet for me personally. But it's a yeah from me for sure. I chose my perfume usually if I love the base notes because almost all perfumes smell nice at the opening, but if they are not nice at the base I don't want to wear them. I learnt it that you can't expect this from cheapies. Even if you reapply this base note will still show up in the end. Voodoo is a mix of everything like hotpot if you like it. To my nose it's sweet, herbal, spicy and smoky a bit. It's a bit like Side effects by Initio and Blessed Baraka plus something else, but not too into your face and less masculine if you compare VOODOO to Side Effects and Blessed Baraka. I prefer Blessed Baraka and wore it for a while. Out of all of them I prefer Voodoo.

Welcome another smoke, smoke-to-dust thing to my armoury, comparing to my Moth, another smell of dusty, Voodoo much lighter, some fresh fruits, sweet, underneath; Moth much heavier, darker, ill honey. Sillage moderate longivity moderate, not overpowering, the ultimate drydown is even kinda lovable, a thing of healing, voodoo doll displayed on the office table as a toy for therapy purpose does no harm when moth annoying. Cute as Pikachu will recognize this signature of lesser Mimikyu. 社畜療癒小物

@Eternal Return: Actually, Bukhoor is sometimes used in Voodoo, Hoodoo, and Witchcraft. Nothing to be angry about. Now for the actual review: So good! 8/10. I would say, much like Bakhoor, this has a psychoactive effect. It's uplifting, welcoming, and has a positive effect on overall mood. I really like it. I may need a full bottle.

I love this new fragrance. A splash of lime fizz deceives you and then settles into a strong leather. Reminds me a bit of Dahab in darkness. My all-time favorite is Onsen.... I was just waiting for time before SJW would comment on the name. Just enjoy the complexity of the art and lose yourself in it. I loved you MiN!

This perfume just launched and is now one of my favorites. Contrary to the other review, I think the name actually pays homage to the religion...what a beautiful scent.
