Ki

The opening of Ki is so unique and beautiful. The sparkling aldehydes, crisp bergamot, and sesame together create something that is sunny, golden and languid yet sparkling. The image I am getting is hazy sunset over the lake, the sun creating dappling sparkles on the water - there is tranquility here. No salty aquatics. Nothing here is in sharp focus. The coconut here is not a sweet confection - it marries the cinnamon and clove and creates this dry powdery quality that is woody yet edible. The sesame adds a fatty richness for lack of another term that prevents this perfume from falling into "just another amber dry down." I am a fan of Mirko Buffini Firenze's musks - they are skin musks that are sensual and not sharp and this combination of musk and amber is glorious. Fortunately there is no vanilla overkill in here - I am hyper sensitive to amber/vanilla dry downs and have come to despise them- and I am not getting that in this fragrance. I don't smell a direct orange note and I don't get any identifiable flowers. Pink pepper adds to the sparkle at the beginning and helps to project the powder sensation and probably supports the base from becoming too soft. I am really loving this hazy veil of fragrance. I am putting this one on my want list for a full bottle. Edit: After 2 samples this fragrance really haunted me and I finally bought a full 100ml bottle and I am still in love. One thing that has changed from the sample to the bottle is that I notice more of the animalic side of the musk in the dry down and I smell a lot more orange/aldehydes in the opening. Just gorgeous.

Cosy scent, absolutely wonderful feeling of being in a cocoon wrapped up in the warmth and goodness. Modern take on aldehydes, bubbly, shimmering. The coconut is not sweet, rather dry, and cinnamon dust covers me in a delicate veil.
