Lemon

Am I dreaming? Mirto Lemon is in Fragrantica? Words are not enough to express what I'm feeling right now. I suppose that most Fragranticans from Greece could understand my excitement. Mirto (it's pronounced Mee-rtó, a female Greek name which means myrtle) is just a classic lemon cologne. Nothing more or less. But for most of us living in Greece and are older that 30, a bottle of this juice holds a very special place in our heart. Besides lemon, it is full of carelessness, smiles, freshness, innocence, colorful Easter days and hot summer afternoons, children's parties and sunny Sundays, old barber shops and well-groomed grandfathers, joy and nostalgia. I have not smelled it since 1995 but I suppose that there is no difference between the current formulation and the old one. It's still widely available in beauty stores and some supermarkets but I'm afraid that only few (old) customers are still interested in purchasing a small bottle. Anyway I was touched by seeing Mirto in Fragrantica's index and I hope that there will be more reviews about it. PS. There is also Mirto cologne Lavender but very few preferred to use it than the lemon cologne. The latter had been so famous that for many years a lot of people, when they smelled any lemon perfume (even some more prestigious and expensive) they were saying, "it smells like "Mirto"!

Oh, my! What a wonderful surprise! MIrto is finally listed in Fragrantica! At last, here's a very famous and much beloved in Greece cologne. EVERYBODY (and I mean EVERYBODY, not only fragrance lovers!) in Greece knows it. Any Greek wore it during all these decades in various phases of our lives (especially childhood). Awww... so very fond memories and nostalgia are attached to it. Sunday mornings at the church, national celebrations, uncles' and aunts' weddings and baby cousins' baptims... It's a very clean and simple lemon juice, refreshing, unpretentious, ideal for the very hot Greek summer days! It doesn't last long as a cologne, but it's so very inexpensive that I don't care. Of course I have it and my baby son will be wearing it later!

Beautiful, Greek traditional lemon freshness. As a person has stated below, a fragrance of innocence. Not long lasting or overpowering, just simple, clean and classic.

It is still available and easily found at a supermarket.
