Pinocchio – Polished Woods with a Touch of Storybook Magic This one surprised me in the best way. When you see the name Pinocchio, you might expect something playful or whimsical — and in a way it is — but on skin this actually reads far more refined and atmospheric than the name suggests. The opening immediately leans into the woods. Sandalwood and cedar are front and center, giving the fragrance a warm, dry, slightly creamy structure. It feels polished but still very natural, like freshly carved wood in a quiet workshop. Then the palo santo and vetiver begin to emerge. That’s where the fragrance becomes really interesting. The palo santo brings a smooth aromatic warmth — slightly sacred, slightly smoky — while the vetiver adds a gentle earthiness that keeps everything grounded. There’s also a soft thread of saffron running through the composition that adds warmth and a quiet glow. Nothing sharp, nothing loud — just this beautifully blended warmth that sits comfortably on the skin. And then, almost like a twist in the story, the peach appears. Not juicy or sugary — just a faint softness that rounds out the woods and makes the fragrance feel smooth and wearable. On my skin the overall vibe is warm woods, soft spice, and polished elegance. In fact, the first thing that came to mind for me was the smell of a luxury mall — that clean, expensive, wood-polished air you notice when you walk past designer boutiques. It’s refined. Smooth. Slightly mysterious. Longevity is solid and projection sits comfortably in the moderate range — noticeable without overwhelming the room. For me this is an easy 10/10. If you love woody fragrances but want something a little more creative and storytelling-driven than the typical cedar/sandalwood blend, this one is worth exploring. Smoked vetiver, dry cedar, and powdery sandalwood combined in a heavily woody composition paired with a cheeky touch of peach skins to make it more interesting and lighter. A woody scent for woody lovers, with the peach skin note adding a fuzzy texture to the scent that is just so lovely.

I didn't enjoy Pinocchio at first sniff on blotter, but on skin the drydown is surprisingly complex as the peach notes and other mix of wood notes start to appear. Some similarity with Santal 33, but this one is less "in the face" :))

This is a nice, easy reach, winter/fall perfume. It's very woody. I pick up the Sandalwood, then Palo Santo, then a crisp fresh, semi-sweet cedar, and a LIGHT hint of saffron in the background to balance out the woody notes. It's nice....it's similar to santal 33(with no pickle note), House of sillage Passion de l’Amour & even a little reminisent of Clive Christian Blonde Amber. It's not TOO woody, I almost pick up a light whiff of vanilla in the background, although it's not listed or prominent at all. And b/c of the fresh cedar note & the Palo Santo, you pick up hints of fresh citrus such as bergamot, from the pairing of these notes, so I really like how they did that. Although this has been done before, I find it a pleasant, enjoyable, woody frag. It reminds me of the shop Pinocchio would have been built in...& the parts he's made of. Sillage is closer to skin but longevity is moderate. Unisex leaning slightly masculine & you need to enjoy woody notes and semi masculine frags. 7.5/10.

The initial spray opens smoky with saffron notes, but the drydown is pure pickles on me. I really wish I had more consistent experiences with sandalwood. This reminds me a lot of Santal 33, which I’m also not a fan of. I bought the discovery set on Mercari mainly because I was intrigued by Mad Hatter and Hansel and Gretel. Even though this fragrance includes many notes I usually love, it unfortunately dries down to a strong pickle note on my skin.

Milky sandalwood, somewhat similar to Sana Jardin Sandalwood Temple, but with added vetiver. The dry-down scent is drier.

Simple concept, to be fair. Pinocchio is, after all, a wooden puppet. Woods in perfumery are rarely seen raw, even woody fragrances like Féminité du Bois or Santal 33 have other elements that take one a bit further from the core concept. This fragrance works a bit differently. You can smell the fresh-cut wood smell from pencil shavings, and of course Geppetto’s studio. I can almost smell the subtle dust on a freshly-carved wooden object. The woody accord certainly has natural cedarwood and sandalwood to help play to this end. While a bit basic, the fragrance is a solid choice for lovers of actual natural wood-smelling fragrances. To be honest, this fragrance could have been much more convoluted considering Pinocchio became a donkey, spent time in a zoo, was inside a whale... I’m glad it was done the way it was, so we can appreciate the lovely simplicity of a carpenter’s studio.

This is a VERY light & blonde wood fragrance. I get the concept of a wood-forward scent for a wooden puppet, but the woods aren’t executed well in the perfume. I tried both a skin & paper wear test, and the primary wood I detect is a pickle-y, rather than creamy, sandalwood. The note breakdown mentions cedar, but it’s very light and does little to deepen the scent or prolong longevity. I do get the vetiver, leaving this more grassy than woody. I do get the peach skins but only because I was looking for it tbh. If that wasn’t in the note breakdown, I’d think the mild sweetness of the scent was from the blonde wood. I truly wanted to love this bc woody & herbal notes are some of my favorite scent profiles but I’m disappointed in Pinocchio.
