Portrait de Madame Et Son Chat

Powder, sweet corn, and a cuddly cat in an elegant lady's lap. Everything that Portrait de Madame et son Chat promises, it delivers. The sweet corn note is a first for me, and I'm hooked now. Some of my friends I showed this scent to interpreted it as 'stale clothes from an old wardrobe', which I suppose I can also get myself to understand. Maybe the lady from the portrait got her best dress out of an old wooden chest and put it on to pose for the portrait with? Maybe the cat is a little dusty from scavenging for mice in the basement before he sat in the lady's lap for the portrait? Either way, it's a beautiful, nostalgic scent worth trying if you're a melancholic soul.

a very cozy and inviting scent! the vanilla note stands out to me a lot but as it dries down the corn note shows through and brings a sort of warm butteri-ness to the overall scent! such a lovely fragrance and is definitely moving into my everyday favs!

i may be weird for this... but it reminds me of a vintage, soapy, and powdery version of milky no way (mainly on the initial spray in the air). i have zero clue where the soapiness is coming from, and would have never expected that from the notes, but it is very heavy on that. the soapiness is actually quite reminiscent of penhaligon's a kiss of bliss too. i also only initially smell the corn on skin when i really search for it, but it shows up a tiny bit more on clothing early on. + the green earthiness that some people are picking up doesn't exist for me at all. the soapiness chills out a bit after a few minutes, and more of a vanillic muskiness comes through, with a tad more of the corn note. however, if you smell it for too long up close you kinda go nose blind. in the deep deep dry down is where this gets better for me. it took a long while to get there though, and it's still a skin scent with zero projection... but this is more of the creamy, slightly animalic cosy scent i wanted from the start. i'm glad it wasn't a complete waste. still meh though. what a journey... edit: the more i smell it, the more addictive it gets ngl. i definitely like it a lot more now after a few days!

It's the most realistic 'cat' scent out of those that I've tried. It smells powdery and a little earthy - which produces a dusty aroma, which definitely does remind me of my cats. It's not dirty smelling to me, just powdery, earthy, and a little animalic (but you know how cats don't have a particularly animalic scent to them?)

It’s a shame there’s only one review for Portrait de Madame et Son Chat; this is a beautifully put together perfume that deserves more attention. The first notes are a high-frequency blast of something musky and animalic, maybe the ambergris. But that lasts only seconds. The next thing I smell is green and woody (stemone?). It’s soon joined by a creamy lactonic note and it begins to smell like the fig perfume of my dreams. Maybe the titular “chat” is playing outside on the grass under the a tree. Soon the creamy notes are joined by something that smells like violet to my nose, and something luxuriously soapy. It’s really beautiful here: soft, feminine, cozy. The cat has now come indoors to lie avec madame, who is bathed and lotioned and swaddled in her fluffy blankets. Now the perfume purrs with warm musks, Iris, and creamy aldehydes. Despite telling a story about warmth, softness, and comfort, PDMASC is a surprisingly long-lasting perfume. I sprayed my pyjamas with it last night and woke up to its delightful smell. Really lovely.
