Oud & Black Tea

Mith is a great house, and I recommend giving them a try. I blind bought this and immediately thought it was weird. Let it sit on the shelf for a few days and then tried it again. I am having a hard time reviewing this one--gonna try my best to review this as best I can: Ok, so its good, and I like it a lot. Its slowly climbing the ranks to be one of my favorites. Its unique but not challenging. I do not think it has mass appealing boring designer vibes. Rather, I think its unique enough that you wont smell like anyone else, but in a good way. I get black tea and rose right away, as well as some sweetness in the base. I like them all. I dont get a ton of oud (btw I usually do not like oud and find it very challenging. The opening is a little odd but after a few minutes it dries down great. I would wear this and gris charnel extrait in the same situations/weather. I get about 4-6 hours of serious projection (not heinous nuclear or anything), then the drydown lasts 12 hours or so. This is definitely not known about and/or slept on. The 4.61 rating this has is deserved fosho. Not blind buy safe.

This was one of the few fragrances from Mith I purchased in Bangkok, supposedly exclusive to CentralWorld. In my honest opinion this is the best oud in their entire oud collection, second being Contemporary Oud. This fragrance starts with blast of dark juicy berries and a bit greenness but the rose and black tea quickly comes out which transforms the composition into something very sexy and alluring. The backbone of the fragrance; the oud really holds everything together nicely. I know the rose & oud combination is overdone but I really do enjoy this one. Its both uplifting and dark at the same time. If Amouage Jubilation XXV was a regal Saudi prince, this would be his younger brother who is flamboyant and not afraid to try new things. I can see why people are comparing it to HM, but I think this is better. It's smoother, not as cloying, and more unisex. It's as if Quentin was given a second chance to make HM with better quality ingredients with the goal of making it more pleasant and mass appealing. HM smacks you in the face with that synthetic hibiscus, but this is a smooth operator. It's a shame it won't get the acclaim that HM gets, but that just means it will be more affordable for collectors like us.

I currently own this and this is very mass appealing take on Oud juicy fruity a bit citrusy sweet fragrance. Very weareble during the day and night as well. The black tea add a bit of depth and warmth to the fragrance, keeps me calm and relaxed for the day. I love this creation from MITH. Definitely, blind buy safe! recommended for oud starters out there!

This is nice, I get the oud (medicinal not barnyard or "fecal") right away with the black currant giving it a semi fruity touch. The rose and currant almost gives it a saffron feel. The bergamot prevents it from opening too dark. This house continues to impress me.

First spray and a few hours in - no oud at all. Super bright and slightly sweet Rose and fruits with the depth of tea in the background. It projects really strong from just one spray so be careful with this one. The Rose does come off a bit synthetic and screechy - like puffing directly from the opening of a Rose laundry detergent. The drydown has no oud in it at all. Smells more similar to the mineral/metallic drydown of Bisch’s other works that I’ve smelt like Le Sel D’Issey and Bois Imperial. Some people say to let MITH fragrances macerate for a bit so I’ll update the review in a month or so. Hoping to smell oud after I let this one macerate . 7/10 (for now - also I was pretty excited for this to be my introduction to oud rip) Edit: April 21,2025 It’s a pretty good rose-black tea scent. Would match well with a black fit on a cloudy or cool day. It’s a sweet rose with a warm black tea in the background that becomes sweeter and musky in the drydown. Kind of like a tea flavored cake with roses on top.

On a trip to Thailand had to try Mith/Proad brands because of the many collaborations with top noses. I probably tried about 20 fragrances or so most if not all were dupes or twists. This is a twist on Hibiscus Mahajad. With a black tea replacement of Hibiscus. Nowhere near as good as HM. Pricing for what is a dupe house is ridiculous. Basically you can expect each famous perfumer has created a dupe or twist of one of his most famous perfumes. Maurice Roucel = Insolence Jean Christoph Herault = Aventus Quentin Bisch= Hibiscus Mahajad Dominique Ropion = Babycat / Vanilla Barka which are a twist or dupes of Vanagloria Honorine Blanc I think was one of her leathers The whole booth/brands were total disappointments and left buying nothing. The stall next to Mith in Central World was Vive Parfum or something close to that was basically a dupe stall as well just some with a Thai or Asian twist I guess. For reference Mith’s Oud and Black Tea dupe was just under $100. The Insolence dupe was maybe $60. To top this all off I was at the mall at opening so 10 am these guys you feel like they are on vacation too. At 10:00 am which is opening the employee is just starting to dust the place and put the testers out for ppl to try you can’t really be served until 10:20 or 10:30. Skonx was a way better experience. If you are a fraghead in or going to Thailand basically the two or three must try are Siam 1928, Ameenah and Prin’s brands starngers, prin etc. I’m personally not a huge fan of Prin there’s a lot of creations and chaos but maybe u find one u love. Hence two or three, Prin being optional for me.

That review by @hr88 is dumb af, doesn't even give a proper breakdown of the smell of the fragrance and just compares it to another(which it doesn't smell like btw) and proceeds to comment amount the service, no shit, you're smelling from a booth in a mall they're not gonna have everything lined up exactly when mall opens up maybe next time don't be early and go enjoy your life.
