Whipped Almond

This scent is a genuinely divine look into the dreams of a beloved toy maker, one who spreads joy through the town he blesses with his presence. It's sweet, comforting, and it has such a relaxed but warm overtone that makes it a simply divine fragrance. Almonds are heavy in this, but not the bitter kind, as you'd imagine - but just underneath is the scent of childhood wishes and memories alike. Perhaps the wish to return to a specific memory. Not quite the piney cinnamon of December, maybe early January. The children who celebrate their gift-giving holidays have all of their delightful toys spread around the home, the cakes have been eaten up, all that remains is the lovely memory of the depths of December snow. From this perfume, I get a lovely almond treat that is just too good to eat. True to the name, Whipped Almond smells like the whipped cream my mother makes when we have pancakes deep in the wintertime. She mixes in an almond extract that livens up the flavor and smells like heaven to my nose. I think it may be one of my favorite almond scents I've ever had the pleasure of sniffing. I do have qualms with the longevity, but I try to think of that in a less negative way. Just like the memories of childhood, this perfume is fleeting. It's perfect to spray on my pillow after a hard day, because the scent lingers in the fibers and I can almost smell it in my dreams. I wouldn't call Whipped Almond unique. I wouldn't even call it groundbreaking. But to the right person, it can smell like the things that made you the happiest.

This was a gift from my mother for christmas. I have used Mix:Bar before because I really like the brand- its a nice cheap way to get some more unique scents rather than the very similar, almost overwhelming yet simple cheap perfumes most department stores offer. When I smelled this in stores, I always skipped over it becuase it starts off VERY VERY sweet. I don't like sweet, so I immediately put it down and never picked it up again. I decided to give it a shot, mainly because my mother was staring at me as I opened my gift and really wanted me to try it. She knows how picky I am about fragrances, and I didn't want to hurt her feelings so I went ahead and lathered it on. Like my first experience with this fragrance, it was unbearably sweet at the beginning. I was practically GAGGING at how sweet it was. To my surprise, the sweetness dissapeared in about a minute and the smell I was left with was AMAZING. I never considered almond perfumes untill now because I assumed they would all taste like almond flavored desserts (gross), but in this perfume its very nutty, soft, and even a little bitter sweet. It works perfectly with the soft lactonic scent. Unfortunately it doesn't last as long as I'd like, because WOW I would love for it to last forever. I have the body spray instead of the perfume however, so maybe the perfume will last longer. I like to layer it with amber or fig perfumes. TLDR: Don't judge it from how horribly sweet it as at first! It ends up a really nice nutty, soft, bittersweet, lactonic scent.

It's safe to say Whipped Almond has surpassed Vanilla Bourbon as my absolute favorite fragrance from Mix:Bar. I've been wearing this for a few days, and i fall deeper in love with each wear. If you've watched my story, I mentioned that this smells EXACTLY like Bath & Body Works' Almond Blossom. I've dreamed about Bath & Body Works making some of my favorite mists into Perfumes, and it's like Mix:Bar read my mind. Now I'm not saying it was their intent to mimic an existing fragrance, but I'm glad they did, intentional or unintentional. Whipped Almond is indeed alluring and addictive. All I get is sweet and creamy Almonds. I don't get much of the Sandalwood. On my skin, this performs on the borderline of weak and moderate. It doesn't last as long as the Almond Blossom, but it has better sillage in the 3 and a half hours it lasted. For $19.99(Yes, it went up $1), I can't really complain. (Proceeds to complain a little😂)But I do wish Mix:Bar would make their fragrances more concentrated, so that they would last longer. But then AGAIN, for a fragrances under $20, you get what you pay for. Their amazing scents kind of compensates for the performance. Whipped Almond and Vanilla Bourbon last the longest on my skin, which is why i have a back ups for both. Speaking of Vanilla Bourbon, it pairs so well with Whipped Almond & Almond Blossom. If you love Almond fragrances, I'm confident you can't go wrong with this. Scent: 10/10 Packaging: 6/10 Performance: 4.5/10

The perfume opens every so slightly floral before drying down to the deliciously rich, sweet, almond heaven scent (the body spray doesn't have the lighter floral top note, it just goes straight into the sweet cozy dry down). I have and love both, although the longevity is pretty short (about 3 hours for both). Not surprising for a Target perfume. It's a good deal, but when you compare the price per ounce to ME perfumes (which usually have much better performance), it's not the most amazing deal. Keep your eye out at Marshall's, I've found the perfume there for $13/50ml and the body spray for $7. I would LOVE a longer-lasting perfume of this exact scent profile, but unfortunately it seems stuck in the body spray category (sweet, inoffensive, unsophisticated, crowd pleaser). I wish one of the ME dupe houses would make a version of this with better longevity, it would be a powerhouse, but since this scent isn't "sophisticated" enough to be made by one of the expensive perfume houses, we'll probably never see a better long lasting version of it. I put some in a travel bottle to keep at work and I'll just respray often. I stocked up with multiple bottles from Marshall's though, because low key this is actually an impressively beautiful scent. One of my favorites to wear right now (fall/winter), if only it lasted longer! I think it would be great year-round. The sweetness is delicious in the cold weather, but not heavy or cloying in the heat.

I am a fan of MixBar fragrances because if one is too sweet, or not sweet enough, you MIX scents by layering it with another. I have all of them but my favorites are Whipped Almond, Wood Elixir and Vanilla Bourbon. Whipped Almond mixed with Wood Elixir (which is my #1 fave) makes a lovely fragrance. Pear Blossom and Whipped Almond are lovely, as well as Coconut Palm and Whipped Almond make a really beautiful sweet, coconutty blend. There really are hundreds of fragrances in your arsenal if you have all of these scents and it's much less expensive than buying 2 or 3 niche, or designer fragrances! That being said, Whipped Almond is a sweet, caramelized nut (praline?) fragrance to my nose.. Simple but complex, with no fruity or floral notes that I pick up. If you like sweeter scents, you'll love it. Don't let the word "almond" deter you because it does NOT have any hint of cherry. The nuttiness is more of a caramelly nut to me than anything else. It definitely doesn't smell like almonds. That would be cyanide.
