Mythique Vetyver

Mizensir might be the best kept secret in corporate/non-indie perfumery. Full stop. There are some misses from this house: Epine Roses, Rose Exaltante, and one of the ouds (will add to my reviews). But this is beautiful! If you’ve smelled dirty Vetivers and clean vetivers(Bal Dafrique), you’ll know that Vetiver can have certain soil-tincture facets which make it smell satisfyingly authentic to some, and too much to handle for others. We can use Haitian Vetiver and Roja Vetiver Extrait as great benchmarks— Now imagine that you took this slightly dirty Vetiver and added a sparkle(papyrus & geranium) to it along with a woody base. Now add a tone of labdanum and citruses, to take the perfume to almost chypre territory. This is what this perfume is. The perfume has an initial blast of citrus and florals. The papyrus which gives it that signature Mizensir sparkle hangs around for the whole ride too. This is no musty Vetiver but you can still get the earthy nuances. This is not a bright or sweet Vetiver like bal dafrique nor musty and green like Roja Vetiver/Guerlain. This is simply beautiful— what I really appreciate is that this composition employs zero vanilla, Tonka, styrax or Benzoin. It is instead sweetened up and rounded masterfully with florals like we see in old classics. I definitely want a bottle of this one :-) I will add to this review with more wearing. 8.5/10 There is nothing groundbreaking here but once you smell it you’ll understand and appreciate the maestros work.

This is a really nice scent. It was provided in a sample decant from maxaroma. It reminds me of a mashup of dior homme 2020 and allure homme edition blanche with the performance dialed up. Completely inoffensive. I’d actually love to end up acquiring this fragrance at some point. I’d never heard of the house let alone the fragrance. Definitely was a nice surprise.

I keep coming back to this! I love it. It’s got a burnt orange edge in the way that some scotch can hint at a golden flavor. It has a warm, sunlit hay feeling. It persists. It starts like a stronger Declaration- same bitterness. But having just ordered a vintage Declaration- I can say with confidence- this projects and lasts much longer.

Sorry but this having 3.68 points is just meaningless. One of the best vetiver centric i have ever seen in my 25 years of perfume journey

Fresh citrus vetiver. A subdued pop of citrus sparkling from a veritable pile of zesty, green, woody vetiver. Dry, somewhat earthy, vaguely soapy. Not dissimilar to any other plain vetiver fragrance, really. Moderately soft projection for ~2hr at best, longevity 6-8hr.

This is one of very few vetiver fragrances I enjoy. It has a sweetness that gives it an aromatic tea vibe. Unisex leaning feminine for a vetiver and geranium fragrance. I usually hate geranium in fragrances but I like it in this one. -

One of very few vetiver fragrances I actually enjoy wearing. I really don't like vetiver in general, but this here is very well blended and balanced. Great for office as you absolutely won't offend anyone.

There's something awful about this blend. Something like a persistent chemical lemon, like lemon pledge, present throughout the wearing. The vetiver, though driven into the background is fresh enough, but that's neither here nor there. No good. Improves, settles down and becomes more subtle as it wears...but why even bother. Really have to be a vetiver junkie to enjoy this stuff. Amounts to a scrubber.

I got a sample together with my order from one of Australian largest perfumeries. Not sure if something’s wrong with the sample, but the fragrance does not have the longevity everyone is talking about. It doesn’t last even an hour. It’s pretty average vetiver and citrus, nothing interesting about it.

It is like a sand paper rubbing on my nose, like a knife cutting olfactory nerves. Good for torturing people around you specially if they suffer from migraine, just make sure there is a hospital around. Wasting all that vetiver, unbelievable.

Using terms like: boring, average, uninspired in criticizing a clear masterpiece like Mythique Vetiver by master perfumer Alberto Morillas really says it all about the lack of understanding of the vast majority of the people on this site. People should stick to their own opinions, subjectively, and not criticize the process, the quality and craftsmanship of something they clearly have no clue about. Either you like it or you don't. People wouldn't recognize real ambergris from ambroxan if they'd shove it up their......noses!

Is this a nice fragrance? Yes, it is very nice. Is it niche? Not exactly. Mr. Morillas combined excellent opening of vetiver and citrus, quite natural smelling with a quite generic base you can find in lets say Bulgari or Armani. Of course, there are aquatic components this perfumer traditionally uses. What sets it apart is a warm, slightly fruity note like fig and raspberry. Overall a very pleasant and wearable, mostly masculine perfume for day and night. 8/10

I ordered the floral and woody discovery sets to try this house and this was one of my favorites out of the sets. Still on my skin 8 hours later but projection has softened. I think this is office safe but with an elevated sweetened green. Not lychee fruity sweet but a balanced sweet that allows the scent to be unisex. Think instant crush by mancera type of sweet. An elevated summer scent that isn't a screecher but lovely and commanding none the less.

This is really a masterpiece of modern designer fragrance. IMO, this is a simple blend of a type of vetiver with a beautiful, sexy and unisex white musk that just has a way of filling a room and lingering in the air. The vetiver pushes this fragrance to lead masculine, but it's still unisex. I love it.

Very nice and different.Fresh with a deeper layer. I like the smell of it but just not on me...but on my husband it's just perfect! to me it's more of a masculin scent.

Uninspiring vetiver, with geranium and papyrus. Boring and forgettable. You'd be better off with Elli Saab's Vetiver. Joke of a pricetag if you ask me.
