Palissandre Night

Sprayed this 5 times out of all the high end perfumes at Harvey Nichols because I was drawn to the bottle. Immediately I felt its dark resinous woods, however later on in the day upon checking back on my jumper it smelled completely different. Still woody but something else was taking the stage, raspberry was what came to mind. Nothing like I’d ever smelled before. I adore the dry down. Luckily I got a bottle for a very good price on eBay, otherwise overpriced imo.

It’s very good! It’s quite unusual, because it’s a radiant woody scent with several different types of wood, but it also has this earthy (also wet) aspect that gives slightly nutty (hay-like) quality. I could say that for me it’s the scent of truffles :) I would be definitely intrigued if I smell this fragrance from someone. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

Very very very appealing scent. Lots of abroxan and elemi at the start. Then there is a smell of oils and dried fruits with a slight note of earthiness. All this is framed by a delicate woodiness. A girl with such a perfume would instantly drive me crazy

I'll ignore the notes and describe what I've smelled. To me, it's a "dark floral" scent; something like Orchid. Actually, I was reminded a bit of TF's Black Orchid. Not a whole lot, but it's definitely there. Add to that a good dose of patchouli, labdanum, which gives it a powdery feel, and some musk. It's feminine leaning, and must say, it's rather sexy. But(there's a 'but' you asked?) Yes, unfortunately. It sort of lacks something. It's good but not great. It's like there's a hole in the composition. Mizensir has never been for me; I never been "wow-ed" by anything, but if I have to recommend one perfume from them, it has to be this one.

An example of a fragrance that is not to my personal taste but whose quality I appreciate. Very well blended elemi and nutmeg on top of dry woods - quite pointed but without becoming too sharp or pungent. This would be good on a hot and humid day. Not for me personally but a quality fragrance.

It’s very evident from the first spray that this is meant to be a woods forward scent. Sandalwood is definitely the star of the show, but this isn’t your typical soft, powdery and palatable Tam Dao / Santal Blush / Iso E Super, nor does it resemble that distinctive Santal 33 sandalwood profile. Emphasis is placed here to make this a remarkably noticeable woody profile; so much so that (to me) the scent exudes this rubbery/latex-like scent that can be quite off-putting. I’m not sure if this will be a common point that’ll be picked up by other individuals that try this fragrance, but for however long I’ve been sniffing this off my arm, this distinctive scent is rather prominent. Due to this, I genuinely cannot say that this a fragrance that I will personally pursue a full bottle of. Nonetheless, for those that particularly enjoy Sandalwood scents, I can see this being very appealing and liked. Not for me, but it’ll definitely have its fans!

I got this fragrance in a sample size from the New York shop. It has all the notes that I am usually wild about, and Alberto’s nose is so distinct. I’ve only had it on for 15 minutes, but I primarily smell Guaiac wood and musk. maybe ambroxan. Much prefer Matiere Premiere’s take on guaiac, Bois D’Ebene, which is more smooth.

I could smell that ambroxan through miles away, and those bitter notes ewww
