Ambre Eau de Parfum

I'm continually amazed by the Molinard purple bottle collection scents. They occupy a space between designer and niche, with great quality and value. Ambre is my 6th - I have Figue, Patchouli, Vetiver, Cuir and Chypre Charnel - I love all of them with the exception of the Chypre, but only because of the white flower note which I should have avoided - the rest of the composition is lovely without that note (IMHO). I think the 'compared to' list is good - if you love ambre, or even just 'like' ambre but sometimes they can overwhelm you, I would recommend trying this one. Its very amber but like the other Molinard scents I listed, they are all seem to be at a very accessible 'volume' - they are not beast mode, yet don't disappear after few hours either. This type of performance is perfect for me because while I do love a lot of niche scents, most of them are simple too strong for me: my skin tends to amplify and absorb fragrance - for example one spray of a Parfums de Marly like Haltane will go nuclear and last through 2 showers. I don't need that from a perfume. This one lasts all day on me, and the drydown is a stunning, dry vanilla that is just spectacular - I wonder if its similar to the Molinard Vanilla scent?.

I was curious to test Molinard and got lucky with some very good testers on sale... but from what I'm experiencing their perfumes are really worth their prices. This amber is a lovely scent indeed. I agree with those that say that the ingredients aren't well put here: what I perceive is a lovely balsamic lavender opening, that quickly fades into a beautiful accord of amber, patchouli and clove. I don't get much incense (luckily) while musk is indeed the backbone. How does it hold the comparison with other ambers? Well, that is entirely personal. I still prefer Lutens' Ambre Sultan, but I like Molinard's Ambre better than l'Artisan Parfumeur and Ambre 114: this is a bit lighter and "younger" (if possible). Than again it IS a solid amber scent: strong, balsamic, heavy and warm. It's not for hot weather, probably not really suited for younger gals, and definitely better worn at night. But it's a really nice amber, if that's what you are looking for.

As others have mentioned, for a relatively inexpensive house they do put out some quality gems. Of the few scents that I've tried, I've been impressed. Ambre has managed to make an impression on me. I do detect some citrus on the initial spray, but I also get a little bit of benzoin in there as well. It gets smoky and sweet as soon as the citrus note disappears. I have a chunk of amber that I used to wear directly on my skin before this, and this smells EXACTLY the same. Warm, slightly sweet, and herbaceous. What is it is NOT is a gourmand, which some people are claiming. There is no cakey, food-like essence here. Similar to Shalimar, the vanilla in this isn't of the food extract variety, but more like the vanilla pod itself. And as I (and others) have mentioned, this is a rather inexpensive scent, and it's definitely worth picking up if you're looking for something sexy and sophisticated without breaking the bank.

Great value sweet warm amber scent. The opening is a bit herbal, tad green, even momentary fresh. Then it strikes with some humid soil, vegetal vibes - but not on the level of Molinard Patchouli, albeit reminiscent of it a little. Then its time for the warm, smokey heart notes from the resins. And then it ends with one of the best creamy balsamic sweet sandalwood dry downs i have smelled this year. Very high quality blending in the base notes, resulting in a long lasting, present, alluring scent that will last for hours on skin (which is a rarity for my dry, atopic skin type). And for the money? Absolutely worth a bottle, or even two. One thing to note if you are looking it up on fragrantica, is that the notes here are 90% made up - check the Molinard website for the real olfactory list.

This is a gorgeous, opulent, yet thoroughly wearable perfume from the venerable house of Molinard. The opening is zingy and camphorous due to the lavender and citrus top notes, but that quickly transitions into the warm, embracing, sultriness of benzoin along with an incense accord. On me the dry down is powdery, musky, and deep. I love to layer this with Molinard Musc for one heck of a showstopping combination. Molinard deserves more love than it receives. They have a long history, high quality French perfumes with a unique scent profile. They're also affordable. It seems like so many have fallen for gimmicky niche brands that are astronomically overpriced and overhyped. For me, hidden gems like Molinard are a secret treasure I'm happy to hoard away from the trend train.

I LOVE this one, and it's such a hidden gem...and very affordable! Although it is named "Ambre" I don't get much amber until the dry down. On me this starts out warm, spicy, and resinous. The most prominent notes to my nose are benzoin, incense (myrrh and a bit of frankincense), and cloves. I thought this was going to go in a deeper direction, but the resins stay relatively soft and muted, and then a delicious vanilla emerges. It's mostly a vanilla, incense, and clove fragrance on me, and is a bit muted and powdery. The dry down reminds me a lot of the dry down of Kalimantan by Chantecaille, but this has less emphasis on the patchouli. I would say this is unisex, perhaps leaning very slightly feminine. Such a great discovery!

It's so mmmm! So well rounded, sultry and with a mystery! If you dig the vibe of Chergui, Ambre Sultan, Alien, you will probably enjoy "Ambre" by Molinard! It's not so much about the notes here, it's the blend - something exciting about this scent - the only perfume I truly enjoy with lavender in it. Cloves with bergamot and lavender, blended with dark vanilla and benzoin, it's very balsamic. About the longevity - not a beast mode, of course, but still good 5h mark. P.s. I layer Ambre with Montale's Aoud Lather to make it last all day! I have had my bottle for 4 years, it gets thicker & better with age.

Everybody maybe loveeees Figue so much, but for me this one is the winner. Ambre from Molinard is my fave style of amber scent. It stands out without too much sweet vanilla distraction. I like how cloves and Incense have strong part in here. The opening is pungent and heavy, but the dry down is resinous balsamic calming amber. I think this one is one of the great number from Molinard, perfect for the one who wear and enjoy perfume for theirselves.

Surprised by the quality of this inexpensive fragrance. Incense, cloves and benzoin are blended well. I wanted to test this before temperatures rise, because as suspected, Molinad Ambre is a cold weather scent. Warm and dry, my favorite “amber” attributes are here with great performance. So far, my favorite from Molinard, and certainly easier to wear than Habanita.

Smoky warm amber, benzoin, and incense that opens with a slightly fresh zing of citrus and lavender. Gets more vanillic as it dries down, but not enough to take focus from the ambery notes. Cool/cold weather only, feels like a warm wintery hug. Starts off strong on my skin but settles slightly above arms' length, lasts all day.

Omg this is amazing. The smoothest, not too smoky not too sweet amber. Benzoin and Vanilla work so well together here, with a slight touch of incense sneaking up on you. This is an absolute winner from Molinard. Projection and longevity is great, and received great compliments.

Oh wow. This is AWESOME!! To my nose, it's sweet n spicy in a non-gourmand way. It's powdery n dry. It's got all my faves: cloves, incense, lavender and I can smell all 3. Will update on longevity n village. This is a keeper. It smells a lot like Mercier Ambre Passion.

Wow. This has instantly become a favorite; this is why I love incense and benzoin. Ambre is refined, smoky and spicy. The performance is A+ producing wafts lasting over 8hrs and unapologetic sillage.

In this fragrance amber is prominent and heady, well blended with musc and clove. It is amazing warm, sensual unisex scent. Sillage is a monster. Perfect for cold weather.

In terms of sweet resinous amber based fragrances, Ambre by Molinard knocks this one out of the park with an impressive bang for your buck. Cool looking bottle too!

the drydown is ambre sultan serge lutens

I like this perfume a lot and I like house of Molinard too, I own some of their fragrances. That being said, I will be honest and tell you that I don't understand why this is called Ambre. First few moments after spraying it's amber, benzoin. Beautiful, warm, inviting, a little cozy amber. This caught my attention a lot, but then way too quickly citruses came to view. This is done very well, it's oriental, but sweet fruity like citruses and I feel that the mood has changed a lot, it became carefree, young. In this phase, I would see it 16-20-year-olds girls wearing it. This surprised me, but not in a good way - from soft, warm feminine to just girly. Then it changed again as cloves and geranium came to front, it became more grown up. I love this part, warm spices and cloves are my thing and I adore geranium, little by little incense has it's way to front too and I like that a lot. So I thought that that short phase of girly citruses could be tolerated. In this phase perfume is really unisex, men can pull it off, women can wear it too, thought I like more feminine perfumes and wouldn't mind it being more feminine, but it's really unisex and that's fine with me. This phase was the longest and I feel that it's mostly about it. And then perfume takes another (also very different) direction - vanilla overtakes it all, it's not too thick nor too cloying, cut it's citrusy vanilla, like vanilla citrusy cake. And once again it's not my style.. I'm not sure why this fragrance changes so much and in such different style (maybe intended to be crowd pleaser..?) and why it is called amber - in Fragrantica's description it is written - warm spicy, balsamic, citrus, vanilla,.... And the description is right - it's mostly about warm spices (cloves) + geranium, it's balsamic just in the begining, then it's only incense, citrusy vanilla. Musk and patchouli don't play a big role, at least on my skin. Usually I talk more about colours of fragrance that it brings to me or mood associations, I feel that this helps to pick a fragrance, because there are lots of comments with notes described and even similar notes could mean very different perfume. This time nothing pops to my mind, it's very versatile and unisex, there's nothing to be told in this department, and maybe it's a good thing - versatility. Longevity is good, after seven hours I still smell it. I don't have any longevity issues as others have mentioned. All in all, it's a nice fragrance. I was sniffing it a lot and I loved first moments and middle phase of it. I was testing it in early spring and now in autumn. I'm sure I will come back testing it in winter.

Im going to compare Ambre EDP here to the benchmark Benzoin fragrance - by BENJOIN BOHEME. I love benzoin and when Sebastien (youtube) recommended it. I had to give it a try. If you love benzoin then u know - BENJOIN BOHEME is the Goat. But its $285US for 75mls and on my skin - its barely detectable after an hour(On my clothes - it lasts almost 12h) That is what Ambre is up against here. Ill start by confirming that Ambre EDP is a Benzoin forward frag. That is the main note and experience. The notes on fragrantica, are pretty accurate for Ambre EDP. It opens with a mostly Benzoin, with cloves, Lavender, lemon and a very slight incense. In comparison, the benzoin + sandalwood in BENJOIN BOHEME combine for a super smooth and creamy experience. To my Nose, the cloves in Ambre EDP hurt the scent by changing the smell of the benzoin to a more sharp -"used motor oil" feel. The Bergamot/Lemon give it a slight freshness that seems out of place for this DNA. As it dries down - some of that lemon sharpness goes away and its mostly a Benzoin frag with some Lavender and cloves. The drydown is better. These type of frags aren't real projectors. That said; Ambre is a better projector than BB. They last about the same on clothes(8+hrs). Overall, I'm really on the fence with this one. For the price its a good frag. You dont wear this type of frag so others notice you. This is a purely self enjoyment type of frag you wear to bed. Would I rather have 10mls decant of BENJOIN BOHEME or 100mls of Ambre EDP for $50. I think I have to go with BENJOIN BOHEME. If you love Benzoin - this is a no brainer. Its cheap enough to buy a bottle and overspray it. The grades.... Scent - 7.3/10 (BENJOIN BOHEME is 10/10) Silliage-2/10 Longevity- 4/10 on skin -- 8/10 on clothes Price-- 10/10 TLDR - Ambre by Molinard is a decent wear but not a real replacement for Benjoin Boeheme. Edit - It compares very favorably with Ambre Sultan. They are very similar. Ambre Sultan has a nicer, deeper and more spicy resinous opening. But the drydown of Ambre EDP by Molinard is smoother and a bit more pleasant, the the spices in Ambre Sultan become too prominent in the drydown.

Ambre is part of the Les Elements collection, and it is really very affordable for a niche quality amber scent. In my opinion, the whole collection is worthy of sampling and this was one of the scents that I was curious about the most. This is quite woody at inception, surprising because of the lack of woody notes in the description. May be the clove + patch coming through, interesting. It does have that subtle sharpness about it , a kind of spiciness and a balmy profile. It is quite sweet, not gourmand-candy sweet, and no powder at all, but it has that kind of cloying aspect for the first hour or so. It mellows gradually, becoming a honeyed amber-vanilla thing. Ambre must have lasted about 8 h or more on me in hot weather, so it stays put, but really, like most ambers, not a light scent and not a hot weather one either, it is too pronounced for that. But I think it will ride smoothly in winter. Overall, I do like it. Edit: layers beautifully on top of Molinard Cuir. The sum has neither of the annoying aspects of Ambre (the cloying part) or Cuir (slight barnyard funk), but the beauty of both is amplified... Maybe the collection is meant for layering. Will try to incorporate the Patchouli next. This is just too much fun, I might even consider getting some more of the Elements.

This Christmas I got my mother a bottle of Molinard Ambre. For reference, she is 65 years old, but a younger looking, modern, active woman, not the typical grandma-type. She wore Shalimar for most of her life, but the latest formulations aren‘t doing it for her anymore. We discovered Ambre while shopping together. To be honest, I don‘t think the listed notes describe it very well. It‘s of course a resinous, warm amber, like the name says. We didn‘t smell much citrus and lavender in the opening though, more of a boozy note, like some fine aged spirit from a wooden barrell. As it dries down, this note vanishes and a warm, just slightly sweet vanilla comes in. It feels dry and powdery, with some aspects I also find in Molinard’s most famous scent Habanita, but Ambre is more gentle and easier to wear than that one. I wouldn‘t call this a sillage monster, it‘s just right in that regard, not too weak but not overpowering. In my opinion it‘s a typical fall/winter scent, as it has a smoky, spicy autumnal vibe about it. To me, hugging my mom when she wears this feels very comforting and cozy. But I could imagine that this fragrance can also feel sensual in a different context. I think it leans slightly feminine on female skin, but I‘d guess it would smell nice on a man, too.

Molinard Ambre was a roller coaster for me. I bought the sample, not knowing what to expect. The first sniff was a disappointment. I left it in my drawer but then I thought to try it and I used the whole sample in one week. Trying different occasions, outfits, day, night... In the beginning, it was this slow and somehow tough process to get that roller coaster to the top, to overcome the image of toilet spray. But once I got there and saw the "top view" by letting it sit on my skin, starting to distinguish the notes: beautifully blended incense, wrapped in lavender, citruses, and cloves... The image of toilet spray disappeared. Suddenly the free ride down took over and I found myself in the whirl of freedom, not caring what others might think about the cloud of scent that follows me...because Molinard Ambre gave me the power not to care about others' opinions. Just be me. Experiment with outfits, and bring sensuality into my walk, face, and eyes. Enjoy the self-expression. The week ended and so did the exciting ride, but the butterflies in my stomach stayed.

I think the Molinard house is under appreciated, and that’s fine by me, just means the prices are great. Ambre is is no exception. It has the usual amber dna, but enough uniqueness to make it its own fragrance. To my skin and nose, ambers thrive in very cool weather, whereas this is a versatile and wearable amber that’s lifted by the citrus and lavender. Price is nice, coloured bottles look nice. It looks and feels like a French brand with history that has pushed aside pompousness and ego and they have delivered what a customer wants to wear at a prices we will find reasonable. Totally unisex. I bought myself a bottle, but gave it to my mum as she really loved it. I took a big decant and will be happy to spritz when I dark it. I have patchouli vanille and will definitely add more Molinard to my personal collection in the future.

Opening with benzoin is very nice, slightly naughty. Then it turns into the smell of vanilla pudding with a hint of spices - this is the most controversial part of the development. As it settles down it is more pleasant. The vanilla is not very similar to Vanille Patchouli of this brand so it is not granted that fans of the latter will also like Ambre. I perceive Ambre as brighter and fruitier scent whereas V.P. as darker one. While it is not an unconditional like, I still find it very appealing, sufficiently enough to get back to this fragrance over & over again. I happen to layer both Ambre and V.P. and for sure they complement each other very well. Definitely a fragrance for cold weather. Like with V.P., sillage & longevity still good for office. Overall 8/10.

Late in reviewing this. I own a few of these purple bottles of Molinard, and one of those is Ambre. I have the 2015 batch with a white label. This is a rounded, smokey warm amber. Straightforward, no frills. Starts fresh with a blast of lavender and leans masculine due to the smokey/incensey note in my opinion. It's very wearable but requires winter (when winter means cold temperatures) and a fluffy, warm sweater. Cozy drydown on the vanillic side, benzoin going strong, but all in all Amber all the way. Average projection and longevity. Although i didn't do a side by side comparison, Ambre very much reminds me of Guerlain SDV (a boozy, incensey vanilla). Very nice to have if you like Ambers.

Starts with a blast of incense , not church-like , but similar to something used in aromatherapy. Soon after, a combination of spices and benzoin come along to add depth and a somehow oily, almost nutty character to this fragrance. The vanilla used here is dry, non-gourmand but complements with a touch of sweetness an otherwise spicy/balsamic fragrance. Reminds me a bit of Serge Lutens's Un bois Vanille, minus the sweetness. Performance is medium to poor and this is Ambre's main drawback- lasts for a maximum of 3 -4 hours and stays really close to skin.

I sprayed Molinard Ambre on card and skin. This fragrance on skin lasted much longer than on a card. On skin and in the air this fragrance is lively and transitions from top notes to base notes. It starts herbaceous and citrusy and ends with earthy patch and smokey vanilla musk. It's lovely on skin. I really like this. I actually like it better than Ambre Imperial by Van Cleef & Arpels which is a little too sweet and cloying on my skin. Molinard Ambre might turn into love one day. -

The scent profile on Fragrantica is a pretty accurate representation...bit of citrus and lavender, but mostly dominated by rich warm ambery scents...vanilla, incense, benzoin, musk. Very nice, but not my typical fragrance which is lighter and more citrusy. Typical of Molinard, a natural, high quality, well blended scent. Not sure if it's particularly original or distinctive, but a very nice version of an amber scent. Scent: 7 / Sillage: 7 / Longevity: 8

Powdery medicinal amber, in the vein of Kuumba Made’s Amber Paste or a very faded Youth Dew. It’s resinous and balsamic more than vanilla. Soft with a sawdust powdery smell rather than a talc baby powder air about it. This hits that sweet spot between interesting and unobtrusive. Easygoing enough to wear in a mixed crowd without offending, but sophisticated and unique enough to please any fragrance lover with a fondness for resins.

Don't let the familiarity of the scent profile fool you. This is well-blended enough to stand shoulder to shoulder with fragrances 4x its price point. Think along the lines of something like MFK's Grand Soir with the booze turned down and you're in the neighborhood. Its almost painted-by-number amber opening dissipates and lets the warm spices, bergamot and vanilla to swim up to the surface. Smooth af.

I currently own this and Patchouli, which I love. The patchouli one is stronger, I enjoy this one- smell is really nice but I wish it was a little stronger. I really notice the incense and benzoin, with a hint of sweet warmth which is beautiful to me. I just want a little more of it.

Incense and amber. Beautiful. Unisex. Sexy. Bold. If you love amber this is a must-try! Rökelse och Amber. Underbar. Unisex. Sexig. Vågad. Om du älskar Amber så måste denna testas.

Pretty straight forward medicinal amber. not bad

Update. It's an easy pass. Get something else. It's a clean Christmas spice smell with little to no musks. It's not bad, but it's not standing out either. It smells pleasant and the bottle is gorgeous. 6 out of 10. It's really safe and boring. The smells like "ambre sultan" comparison is very misleading for this one but I can't really say it's wrong. It's just missing all the brilliance and complexity. If you want hour woman or man to smell good but not too good? This is a great option for that. Want to get your daughter something nice smelling but worried her smelling sexy? Try this. Uncle safe. It's a Christmas snow white benzoin and vanilla amber hug accord with no musk. It's a familiar accord. A few perfumers use this in their arsenal.

This is a gem from discounters. Very wearable. No gatekeeping here. It's worth it at full retail. Smells like an ambergris accord in here although it's not listed. Some hints of clinical, antiseptic, medicinal... with a beautiful amber hug of benzion and vanilla. Pleasantly spiced with clove, incense, and patchouli. Smells luxurious. Pretty forgiving if you want to spray a little extra. I love bottle also. The history associated with the house. Great smells with lots of class. Wait until I get everything available at discounters before you buy please. Update; the vanilla is very prominent. Has that vanilla extract for baking smell. Like I got some on me. It's wonderful

A green amber, sticky resins speckled with medicinal herbs & spices. The warm, sweet base chock-full of dark vanilla and smoke is counterbalanced by the camphorous myrtle and bitter thyme. The coriander lends it an earthy, ground black pepper sort of effervescence. Moderately strong projection for 3-4hr, longevity 8-10hr. It's a bit pungent for my tastes, but it has a somewhat unique charm.

A syrupy, thick, spicy amber that veers masculine and balsamic in the dry down. Not obsessed- reminds me of the shisha lounges alongside the Bosphorous Sea in Istanbul. Cute and distinguished but not giving Wow factor .

Lavender start with incense and geranium. Goes into a patchouli musk base. Smells slightly feminine and has an off putting "perfume" smell to my nose. I believe I will be in the minority with this way and say it is a no go for me. Glad I got a sample.

I would never dare to look her in the eyes, such is my infatuation. My parents and I moved to this building a few days ago. She lives in the fourth floor letter B, which is an attic. I live in the second A and, at my fifteen years of age, I had never fallen in love in this way. From the street, I have observed her terrace, from which emerge exultant and leafy plants, which seem to me mysterious and impregnable. Exactly what she is. My first encounter with her was through the scent she had left in the elevator. When I left our apartment, on my first morning at my new school, my mood was at rock bottom: new teachers, new classmates, new habits. A mixture of fear, anxiety and frustration clouded my mind, unable to understand why I had had to leave everything I had known since childhood to move to this neighborhood where I felt out of place. When the elevator door opened, a heavenly scented breeze kissed my face and made my body tremble from top to bottom. From that moment on, I fell in love. Without knowing who possessed that fragrance, nor discerning whether it was real or imaginary. I went up and down several times, from the first floor to the upper floors, because I did not want to - nor could I - stop inhaling that scent, which had subjugated me forever. At first, it reminded me of my grandparents' village house in Valencia (Spain), full of bergamot, orange and lemon trees and lavender bushes. Those were my bright and radiant summers; it was my feeling of freedom and communion with nature, so far away from Madrid (Spain), cement and asphalt. Childhood vacations and the most longed-for carefree time. But, after those first moments of citrus splendor, an enveloping and sensual embrace of amber, incense, cloves, patchouli and vanilla, made my blood run cold, pulsing in my temples and convulsing the pit of my stomach, in an uncontainable emetic that brought me closer to the petite morte morte and the loss of consciousness. I had to leave my backpack on the floor and lean against one of the walls of the elevator, so as not to fall face first on the floor. My forehead was pearly with sweat; the lack of air; the intermittent shivering. I wanted to see her and I was afraid to see her. He wanted to talk to her but he wouldn't know what to say. He wanted to be with her even though he knew it would never happen. Her scent was the aroma that rose from the movie screen when Gilda stripped her arm from her black satin glove and threw it towards my face, as if the famous slap had been directed towards my face, with the intention of making me abandon an overextended childhood and awaken to an adolescence constrained by family repression and religious fears. That first day of my new school, I arrived late and groggy. This did not make a good impression, neither on my teachers nor on my classmates, who branded me as a freak and a weirdo. But at least I had been able to know his name. In the doorway, I approached the mailboxes and read the sign in room B where she lived: AMBRE DE MOLINARD.

tl;dr version of my review: i hope Fragrantica can make a new page for this because Molinard Ambre 2020 is definitely its own thing — and that’s a good thing. i’m no expert, but — i detect no citrus or lavender, there’s mild spice here but it’s definitely not cloves, and the camphor-like wallop of the myrtle slapped me hard (in the best possible way!) right off the bat. also, i high-key smell labdanum. i used to put powdered rockrose resin in my hair back in my hippy days, and you don’t forget that smell. ;) anyway, here goes nothing... a hit of myrtle to wake up your nose, followed by the soft, gentle spice of coriander. the aromatic notes somehow highlight the slight leather of the labdanum, a gradual introduction to the star of the show. the longevity doesn’t seem to be great, so not too clear on what happens next. i assume it’s all about the blend from here on out. this takes me back to the late 90s, back to my days of hennaed hair and long cotton skirts, and i love it. i hope to discover more of the frankincense heart and the sandalwood base the next time. apparently, there are two different versions of Molinard Ambre. they have flipped and flopped over the years. we’ll call the first the citrus-cloves-benzoin version, and the other, the myrtle-labdanum-wood version. i definitely ended up with the latter. here are the official notes for the current incarnation of Ambre: myrtle, coriander, thyme amber, (frank)incense, labdanum sandalwood, musk, tonka bean i might be talking through my hat, but it’s difficult to imagine this smelling like the notes listed on this page. i most certainly prefer what i got. musical accompaniment: “Oil of Angels” by Cocteau Twins /current edp, 2020ish, purple bottle with a clear label

• Quite musky at first to my nose, but it stays more powdery patchouly and stays like it on my scarf 5 days and more! • But on a skin, musk and patchouly plays with benzoin like some honey and beeswax notes I adooore! • Absolutely love this musky pachouly dry down. • Ambre 114 is a bit grow up or oldish after all. L'Artisan Amber is more sweet more patchouly. And in my Amber Sultan there is a bit too much bay leaf. :) • Adding review now in 27.11.22. I'd say that first sprays and opening is a bit too soapy for me today, although if I wait till the evening, the drydown is very very tasty and harmonic. • Maybe Ambar del Sur is closer as a fragrance to Ambre drydown...

Incense perfume with lavender, cloves and geranium, and a little vanilla in the background. The name 'Encens' would be more accurate IMO, it is not strong on amber. Smoky, deep, dark, spooky, non-sweet oriental. It isn't the scent you pull when going on a date... Rather when you go to the cemetery or to a halloween party. Not a bad perfume, it is not harsh, but there is something dirty about it. I miss woodiness and some more spices. The performance is below average, lasts for like 1-1,5 hours, with a weak sillage. Scent: 6/10 Uniqueness: 7/10 Performance: 4/10

It's funny that there is no amber among the notes listed as at first spray I find this fragrance to be one of the most beautiful, warmest and smokiest amber fragrance. On the other hand, after it dries down it reminds me on Shalimar edt on my skin and I truly thought something is wrong with my nose until I came here and checked the notes and now i understand that Ambre and Shalimar share just enough of their dominant notes to make an impression of resemblance.... truly addictive and a warm, cozy scent from autumn to winter in my wardrobe.

The true scent notes are.. *top: myrtle coriander thyme *middle: amber incense labdanum *bottom: sandalwood musk tonka beans I did not like it initially but it really is a sweet, creamy very slightly spicy amber. Strong and heady in a gorgeous purple translucent bottle. I'll find myself reaching for this in the colder months. ✨

Very nice amber notes with some other accords that boost it like vanilla and spices. The projection is bad but this scent stays on the skin for good 8 hours so I think it's good for layering with other perfumes to improve longevity. But that's just a hypothesis. Can't wait to layer it with DH tho.

Slightly gingery, reminiscent of Five O'Clock au Gingembre, but with s leathery amber. The leather is subtle, mild, a little like a softer version of Perris monte Carlo Amber Gris. Where Amber Grid leans towards masculine, this is more neutral.
