Cher Wood

Cher Wood sports a nice balance between dry and earthy woods and semi-sweet vanilla/amber accords, but it does NOT smell like StH Extreme or Coromandel, unless you omit a bunch of prominent notes they have. Where StH really leans on that boozy rum note and a prominent cedar, Cher Wood lacks the booziness altogether, and presents a more complex, "high end generic" wood accord that relies on a balance of cedar, sandalwood and oud notes, along with a fairly strong vanilla. Likewise, where Coromandel is all about a very particular patchouli accord, Cher Wood merely teases at an earthy patchouli as a lightly used heart note. In spite of all of this, I think Cher Wood presents as much more simple, along the lines of Molinard Patchouli Vanille, By the Fireplace or MBZ Club Black -- though better and "truer" than any of them. In spite of its note pyramid, I get no fruity or floral accords from Cher Wood. Overall, it's just a warm and inviting woodsy vanilla/amber base, in a pretty much straight up unisex way. As Cher Wood dries down (1-2 hours for me), the vanilla/amber accord diffuses a bit, giving way to a nice balance of dry and slightly smoky woods -- I would say about even amounts of cedar and sandalwood, with accents of patchouli, a really tame oud and smoky/earthy vetiver, almost too far in the background to make much of an impact. Still not much in the way of fruit or flower on me, which is neither good nor bad. Overall, I would say the composition tilts somewhat in the direction of masculine, thanks to the dry woods that underlie Cher Wood's initial sweetness. Sillage seems modest and projection is maybe arm's length for a good 2-3 hours, but the personal scent bubble persists for at least 6-7 hours and sometimes much longer, depending on wearing conditions. So it's polite and relatively long lasting. Cher Wood is not overtly aggressive or seductive; more like olfactory comfort food, an invitation to move in closer -- perfect for wearing by the fire with the significant other on a cold winter's night, Netflix and chilling, etc. I also find it to be dynamite for layering with woodsy scents that are maybe a bit too literal -- for example Montana Graphite, in all its sharp, pickle-juicy cedar/violet leafy goodness. Combined, it brings out all the glorious woodiness while eliminating all the sharp edges. I can see this working well with a good many types of fragrances. So you can add "super versatile" to the mix. Recommended, but only BB safe if you like warm, sweet/woody unisex/masculine scents.

This is such a lovely take on the wood! Regardless of the fact that is it no doubt a predominantly woody fragrance, the fume still manages to remain airy and light. I am surprised not to find any orange flower in the composition, because I detect something that resembles a good orange flower. It must be the way cedar/patchouli combo marries with the fruity flower accord that produces this wonderful scent. I adore this, it has just the right amount (and kind) of a fruit - flower combination to compliment the warm and rich sandalwood and cedar. Bliss..

I've been searching for something to substitute for Guerlain Winter Delice, which is virtually extinct these days, and Cher Wood is the closest i can get, but it plays the notes in reverse and is much milder. It opens with a blast of sweet fruits and vanilla that slowly fades into cedar and woody notes. Great thing about it is that the woods do not turn boring and dry, the vanilla lurks as an undertone and keeps the scent lively. Projection isn't very strong, but the longevity is pretty decent.

Tested hundreds of perfumes and this and two of Zielinski are my favorites. Cher Wood is an unique woody very warm cozy perfume. It is a bit sweet but more on the background behind the wood.. For me this is the perfect warm woody perfume with a elegant feminin touch. The longevity is great but intimate, It surrounds you very subtle, like you wear it more for yourself. I want to wrap myself completely in this scent. Highly recommend!

Cedar heaven. Mega-aromatic, dry, but rich woodiness, on a sweet side. I particularly enjoy, how patch adds its juicy-herbal tonalities without overshadowing fragrance and not taking over. You do smell vanilla-fruity intake as well, but still fragrance remains foremost casmeran-like, - musky-ambery-woody. You realize it is madly synthetic, but still loving its abstract, introvert qualities.

Opens with plump fruit, becomes a two-sided woody; one is dry, spicy, and quite earthy (a bit like tree bark), the other is a soft and slightly creamy vanilla-forward sandalwood. Perfect for cool/cold weather, autumn, winter, and maybe cooler days in spring. Sits just above the skin.

Bit of a Jekyll and Hyde, this one, although both facets of its split personality can be pleasing and both are definitely high-quality and individual. It's a deeply fragrant wood, whichever way you cut it. Sprayed lightly and it's a gentle vanilla-and-tonka-infused light wood, very feminine, almost airy, sweet and smooth, with a few coniferous resiny notes floating along the top. Sprayed more heavily (or repeatedly) it gets much much harder and darker, with the wood seeming to morph into mahogany and ebony, growing ever more spicy, the oud ever more poky, the intensity even doubling layer on layer to grow more pungent and almost punchy. Against my instincts I prefer the first aspect to the second. Whichever route it takes, this doesn't develop dramatically ... both do grow sweeter and milder with time. Total longevity about 8h so a strong performer. In either guise the sillage is moderate.

What you get in the opening is what you get in the drydown—only growing softer in the last phase. Cher Wood is appropriately named: mostly I’m picking up a masculine leaning, fruit laden wood composition, with just a drop of Oud. My favorite note in this mix is sandalwood. It’s creamy and delicious, without it Cher Wood would fall flat. I wore this yesterday and after a couple of hours I was either nose blind to it or it was so soft that it was hard to detect. For the price, I would want better performance. I like Cher Wood (not going to snub quality ingredients), but I don’t love it.

such a great fragrance... leans more masculine,but i really like it... quite sharp woodiness.. stays on skin all day. great fragrance for good price value.

Reminds me (too much) of Allure.: too "hard" and no comfort for my taste. So back in its box in the closet and I'll try it again next spring. No other one to blame than me. Another blind buy...

This is so delicately French in that it is seductive, personal and in a sense timeless - a classic. If Coco Chanel had sniffed this she might have been tempted though in no way is this the same kind of scent. Would this epitomize the modern flapper of today... Possibly, though they might seek a mildly stronger sillage. If you are familiar with the strength of Solidsor Concretes, then this kind of a par with that useage and appeal. This not an intense perfume but the finesse of the balance is superb. If you are looking for pungent smells that scream I have arrived or left the room, you best look elsewhere. However if it is something close to skin, sexy and refined then this amongst others in the range are well worth a try.

This is a real letdown for me, perhaps because I've been building it up for so long in my head. I try to resist expensive blind buys, well I'm really glad I did with this one. I was expecting an amber woody perfume, and what I'm getting is a floral musky mess with no woods or amber. Will retest but not much hope for this one.
