Fleur de Figuier

I was very happy to get a sample of this from a nice fragrantica member, because I'm more or less obsessed with fig fragrances, and I'd seen this particular one described as "a cheapie that smells exquisite". So naturally my hopes were sky-high, and I'm glad to say they were more than fulfilled. It's not really well named - to my nose at least, there's nothing floral about Fleur de Figuier at all: it's one hundred percent green, like a real living fig tree. Which happens to be just the way I like it! All of the parts of the tree are evoked in turn as the fragrance evolves: first the slightly sharp and bitter woody branches in the opening, then the juicy green stems of the leaves as it settles down in the heart, and finally the subtle, dusty sweetness of the leaves themselves as it warms up a little in the drydown. All very natural, and very delightful, at least if you're a fig (leaf) lover like me. And it lasts all day as well! So this seems more or less tailor-made for my taste; I could easily imagine this becoming a staple for those days when I crave something natural and green (and there seem to be many of them in this particular period, the middle of spring). It's going straight to the top of my wish list - and if it's still easily available, and really as cheap as I've read, it won't stay there for long. Update: turns out it's discontinued and definitely NOT easy to find anymore, especially in the EU. I ended up ordering from Amazon US, paying double for shipping and then triple for customs - and my bottle's probably gone off just a little in the opening. Still worth it, though, and it still ended up cheaper than most 100 mls too!

I'm into fig frags now. I have this one and I love it. It's dry, but in a very pleasant way. Very refreshing, too. Pity it doesn't last very much. Then again, it is EDT.

I wore this many (many) years ago and had veered back toward other scents. Then I realized that there were reformulations afoot and made haste to get a bottle of the original. Thank goodness I did. It's hard to understand how I forgot to include this scent in my regular rotation. In fact I am thinking about getting another bottle to keep sealed for a rainy day. It's creamy and green and soft. I have only worn one other fig fragrance - L'Artisan - and this one is all soft, fresh air whereas that one has some spice in the patchouli and other notes that come forward on my skin. This opens green and the cedar tempers it - not as a pronounced wood but to create the effect of a fig tree. As opposed to a more expected green of the vetiver-heavy or perhaps Cristalle sort of compositions, this reminds me inescapably of the way the air smelled when I was in Jerusalem during September and October one year. The harvest of fruit-heavy vines and walking through the golden sandstone streets enveloped with the scents of almond and olive trees blended with that of those ripe figs just waiting to be eaten. On the drydown, the fig remains. Even though the explicit notes of honey and milk aren't there, the feeling of them is and a faint oleander thread seems to connect the notes.

I was so sure I'd like this that I bought it blind, but so far it's not working with my skin chemistry. I'm not getting any green or earthy notes, just went straight to sweet and powdery. It's surprising considering the notes it contains and the reviews its gotten.I love Molinard fragrances though, so I'm not giving up on this one just yet. If it doesn't work on me, I'll most likely swap it. Must say it's a warm scent and has good longevity! UPDATE: 4 hours later I began to get the green earthy notes, this is what I was hoping for - a very interesting fragrance that took some time to completely unfold on me. It has tremendous longevity, I sprayed on a fairly small amount yesterday afternoon, and could still smell it when I woke up this morning!

I have a huge soft spot for fig based fragrances. I was on the quest for my my perfect fig when a lovely fragrantica member suggested this to me . Its quite delightful, but its a more earthy than I expected it to be. Its has the vibe of what the whole plant would smell like rather than just the fruit. Its a little more about the branches and the fig leaves. It comes off as a pretty green fragrance and it has an underlying sweetness to it. Overall I really like it, but I wish it was a little more fruity. It also happens to have amazing lasting power on my skin. I quite happy with it being my first Molinard and it makes me curious to try out more by this house.

My grandmother owned this and when I was little I gravitated toward the blue bottle. It has a children's-book-esque label that I thought looked elegant as a 6 year old. I still think this is a nice scent, and my sister and I have adopted our grandmother's bottle. It reminds me of clay, a bit pollen-like.

I somehow missed Molinard during my meanders through the streets of Grasse, but having learned that they have been around since 1849, I was anxious to try out their wares and snapped some samples into an online shopping bag at the first available opportunity. FLEUR DE FIGUIER is a slightly sweet, flour-textured woody fragrance. I am no connoisseur of fig perfumes, but I know what figs taste and smell like, and this composition is not all that figgy to me. I would certainly have identified this edt as an oriental woody and am not sure what the basis of the aromatic green label is supposed to be. Perhaps a simple mistake? (-: Anyway, this is a very pleasing scent, to be sure, and the quality seems at the level of L'Artisan Parfumeur. As I have come to expect from natural fragrances such as this one, there is nothing earthshattering in the composition, just a very pleasing melange of subtly blended notes. I won't rush out to add FLEUR DE FIGUIER to my collection, but if I happen to see a bottle on sale, I probably will not abstain...

Molinard Fleur de Figuer is a fresh, cool, crisp fig fragrance that is only slightly on the dry side. At first sniff, I smell fig leaf, galbanum, floral, woodsy, not-too-sharp, somewhat of a bitter-citrus aroma(petit grain?), & cedar all at once. Each note bursts forth and provides an introduction befitting that of its top note status. As it dries down, I get a drier fig leaf aroma, mixed with a little bit of cedar...but naturally sweet (the way a leaf would smell after you rub it between your fingers after a while). This is a very natural "purpley-green" smell...as if you were sniffing an older fig leaf. Though I'm prone to wearing fragrances "out-of-season" just because I delight in it, I can actually picture myself wearing this during the Autumn months. Leaf smells tend to do that to me. On skin, a dabbing does not last that long on me....1.5-2 hours maybe. If you spray it on your clothes, I'm sure it would be delightfully relaxing.

This is a green leafy fig scent, if you are not looking for a "plummy" or "jammy" sweet fig, you will probably enjoy this offering by Molinard. While many figs are fruity compotes, Molinard has given us the leaves and a hint of blossom surrounded by an arbor of cedar and mosses. It is a crispy cool green scent and by no means a gourmandy fig doused with vanilla and spice. Molinard Fleurs de Figuer is one of my favorites in the Fleurs de Provence line. I am not sure if this one has been subjected to reformulation to remove the moss. I hope not, but if you find a bottle like the one pictured here on Fragrantica, you are in for a summery treat.

I was bored one day, searching perfumes with notes of galbanium (my fave green note), and I found this and bought a bottle on ebay exactly as above (same box too). Love this! Potent so far! (First tissue/paper test) It's def a smooth powdery fruity fig with an odd sharp green note. I dig it! It's odd, but who wants boring? ;) A wee bit woody too. I wouldn't call this "green" tho. More like fresh/fruit/powdery/woody.

Simply yummy! This is my favorite everyday perfume. Truly the most wearable perfume ever. So light, delicate. Like a vanilla breeze, while eating a ripe fresh fig! Never fails to deliver pleasure and contentment. As my grandmother would say, this is the scent of a demure aristocratic woman. This scent enhances, and does not enter a room before you do! My number one!
