Madrigal

Okay I definitely think they were going for an original old spice aftershave sort of fragrance. Plus you got the sea monster on the bottle that reminds of the ship on the old spice bottle.. Thankfully I love that lotion style manly old school fragrance! If you enjoy old spice splash I highly recommend buying this. I don’t own anything like this. The patchouli is clean and well blended. Smells like a gentleman. Awesome fragrance! I love Molinard! Also try out MM, it has a niche level hugo boss bottled vibe. Madrigal Reminds me of the 1930s barbershops 💈. Vibes of Shaving soap being lathered up with a badger brush and straight razors. Truly brings you back to an iconic gentlemen like era. 8/10.

Beautiful classic style mens fragrance that evokes all sorts of other classics like Givenchy Gentleman (the original one not the Gentleman Givenchy iris one). Patchouli and Oakmoss and some incense are prominent. Longevity to me is fine and this one is certainly one of the best in that respect as well as smell itself (to my taste) of this La Personelle Molinard range (that I have samples all of), that has a fair few over light weak fragrances in it. This one though is recommended for lovers of classic fougeres etc and even though leaning masculine no reason why a woman couldn't appreciate it

Very good. This is a "clean fresh oakmoss" bomb. Sunny and bright yellow. I thought I dislike oakmoss, but between the new post-IFRA oakmosses of this and Acqua di Parma Quercia, I'm changing my mind. Molinard calls the patch "Fresh Patchouli" and there's certainly no dank hippie earthiness here to my nose. I don't notice the incense nor vanilla, but I believe them when they say it has violet and rose. Madrigal dries down to a soapy clean oakmoss. I find this very similar to Quercia at a much better price! Note Molinard copy text designates this for men.

Clean, mossy violet-and-woods fragrance that misses the "natural" mark. Kind of reminds me of new car smell. I honestly don't hate it

I find this has a soft powdery sweetness, has some of that old school barbershop feel with the oak moss holding down the base. Very soft in performance, it’s there, but not in your face. Very linear in notes once it settles, the rose starts to stand out a bit more. I like this, but it is nothing super special. I feel it does lean mature, but certainly not in a 70 or 80’s profile way, very much a modern spin. This is an office safe multi season offering, it’s nice but underwhelming.

It’s boring and dull.. also very generic! I feel like very other “fresh and green” floral scent in the middle of 00s smelled like this. And most likely it was targeted for men.

Quite boring scent to be honest. Opening is fougere like : oakmoss, green aromatic and after 20mins a faint rose, musky smell that dissappears after 1h.

Initially, it smells dapper and vintage. Five minutes later, it’s baby wipes. Then it’s patchouli. Ten minutes later, nothing. I’ve seen Zara fragrances with better performance. This blind buy was disappointing to me. If you’re looking for a vintage vibe, go for Kiehl’s Original musk instead of this.

Madrigal is a rather oldfashioned fragrance, which may or may not be a good thing, depending on your taste. If you happen to love 1970s perfumery (minus the aldehydes), then this is for you; otherwise, better stay away! It opens with a very strong bergamot and patchouli combo, and I swear there’s also some vetiver in the mix. I was instantly reminded of FM Noir Epices - it’s the exact same type of patchouli, paired with citric notes. The floral phase of the scent’s development is short lived, whereas the drydown is mossy and musky. I kinda like it, but for anyone younger than forty, this will be too grandma-like.

I'm wearing Madrigal for the first time today: it comes out of the bottle very much like 1881, but quickly softens into a lovely traditional fougere-oakmoss-chypre fragrance. It's very familiar; Oakmossery by 4160 Tuesdays comes to mind, but Madrigal is a little heavier - probably the patchouli. The fougere is reminiscent of Paco Rabanne Pour Homme, though a lot more subtle. I think I can detect a subtle metallic note too. I think Madrigal is going to grow and grow on me, and eventually become a favourite.

A vintage French floral-patchouli-musk formula done light-handedly with contemporary ingredients. Hints of incense and amber and honey shift the scent even more towards old-school heavyweight, but then how is it still so easy-going? Real old-school rose chypres were not made for lazy days in the sun, or were they? This one definitely is.
