Oud Magnetique

If you love Oud and musk, this is a truly beautiful balanced artistic masterpiece of simplicity. It's understated yet eternal. Like all Molinard scents, they are very "what they say on the bottle" but the special unique interpretation is what has turned me into such a Molinard stan. I'm into quirky complex scents, with big personality. Molinard has become my favourite French house. Their affordable take on crazy expensive niche perfumery is very French. The average French person is minimalist but expects excellence no matter their budget. Their square bottle collections are fabulous. They all seem like siblings but none feel like flankers. This is such a beautifully perfect interpretation of Oud. It's sweet, floral, powerful yet unmistakably unisex. It's the kind of high powered musk that will pull sweet, sultry and seductive on a woman only if they've outgrown ultra sweet gourmands. If you want to know if this is for you, what you think of Angel is a great litmus test. If it's a Patchouli bomb, no. If it's a mango syrup bubble bath, yes.

For the record, I am not a specialist. I bought it yesterday. I generally gravitate toward woody/leathery/oriental fragrances, this one I feel is going to be among my top 3. I feel it smells different on every spraying, it reveals different facets. I would say that the main players are rose and oud, the ylang-ylang brings a sensual, almost decadent note, the amber is enveloping. This is really unisex, in that at moments you have the prominent rose which leans more feminine, and at other moments the oud which leans masculine. The drydown (after 12+) is woody, masculine. I am really happy with the price, 120 euros/75ml. Compare it to the 180 euros/100ml for Oud essentiel from Guerlain. The Guerlain I think is good, but much more linear, rose and oud, a bit medicinal, also metallic, more masculine

One of two great ouds from the house of Molinard (the other one is called Cuir). It was a lucky blind buy for me, I absolutely love the whiffy animalic opening, the velvety hug of violet and rose... for me this fragrance feels like a dirty feminine oud. Think Boudoir, TF Violet Blonde... that sort of dirty. Add some leather and oud, then you have an idea of what Oud Magnetique is aiming at. I have recently added a few Molinards to my wardrobe and I find this house offers amazing quality fragrances and is still affordable. Their scents tend to layer well, too.

Love this. When I first sprayed it I had it, it smelt like patchouli overpoweringly so. But I went back the second day and it smelt totally different. It's strong and heady with warming tones. It's a thick scent but I have received loads of compliments when I'm wearing it. Leather, amber and oud are strong, it's a mature fragrance that I wear in the day and night. Will definitely be buying this again.

This is one of my favorite perfumes. It’s sparkly, musky, floral, woody, soapy. The color it evokes is purple-red with yellow sparks. As time goes by, it loses its animalic edge and purrs, a halo around the wearer. It’s very French, it would doubtlessly offend a weak constitution and in the same breath seduce another with its carnal appetite. Classy, sexy, fun, smells great!

Magnificent, dandy-ish vintage vibe. A powdery/skanky homage to civet a la the long-discontinued Chanel No. 5 Eau de Cologne or a bottle of Bal à Versailles you found tucked away at the back of the cabinet. As at least some have noted, this opens with the jammy black cherry of the original M7. Not a blind buy unless your name rhymes with Beau Brummell.

Cet automne, je suis en mode compulsif et je multiplie les achats. Je me suis déjà bien livré sur le sujet, je fais une transition complète en quittant des marques et des produits auxquels j'ai été fidèle pas loin de trente ans. Et j'explore... J'avais bien aimé le Cuir de Molinard et cet Oud en est proche, en plus radical, avec un air de ce dont je me souviens de M7 à sa sortie. C'est plus un parfum de peau dans un col de chemise ou sous une écharpe. Il est terrien, sensuel, et réconfortant: des bois, de l'ambre et du cuir après une envolée épicée. Une belle découverte. La gamme Eléments Prestige est un bien beau voyage olfactif. A nice warm comforting scent, close to the skin for a very long time. Amber, spices, woods and leather match with a man's skin under his shirt or a wollen scarf. I also imagine parfuming the inside of my leather jackets with it when wearing Ambré lumière on the skin. No sweetness, not childhish, but you feel more confident and smile to dull rainy days. Very nice encounter with that new release from Molinard.

And here we are, back to Molinard as always. No matter what the category is, this house just keeps delivering. It's become the olfactory definition of a 'staple'. No exception here. Oud (a rather dry rendition reminiscent of older recipes) and rose and plenty of spices (especially nutmeg). The bit they excel is the drydown. The vast majority of Molinard's I have used over the years have long lasting drydowns that meld with the skin into something seductive (yet clean).

Another surprising offer from Molinard, this reminded me of Oud Palao from Diptyque, only less skanky and intense than the latter. A very good oriental, the Oud is there clearly perceivable. Very nice :)

I feel like I'm wearing a vintage female perfume like a 1920's Shalimar with real civet. If that's your thing - and I know it is for many - try this out. Oud Magnetique is not just another oud, that's for sure.

Blind buy gone wrong. The main player here is rose imo and it leans femme.

I have probably close to two dozen aoud based fragrances ranging from YSL M7 to Mancera Black to Black and Montale Aoud Black Intense. Much to my surprise, Molinard's Oud Magnetique instantly reminded me of Serge Luten's Musc Kublai Khan, which I also have. Molinard's Oud Magnetique has an in-your-face animalic barnyard-ish aoud to it right from the get go. Yes, it's kind of skanky at first and probably would be rather off-putting to many people -- but I absolutely love it. After a couple hours, the skankiness tones down and it become much more civilized and starts to remind me of something that one might find in a 1970's leather powerhouse. Just visited Molinard in Grasse where I had the pleasure of trying this gem on for size and oh, what a perfect fit! -- like a custom made glove. Definitely my fave in the Molinard line-up. Was expecting to walk out with one of their best-sellers like Patchouli Intense, but it was the Oud Magnetique that I just couldn't say no to.

I tried this perfume few days ago,from one spritz on my hand all I can say is that is a very heavy fragance,smells mostly like oud,woods and amber. Projection is quite good and lasts for many hours on the skin,definitely masculine and has that expensive and lntriguing aura to it. Don’t blind buy it as I don’t think is an easy one.
