Patchouli Intense

I was expecting this to be a stronger version of molinard's patchouli which I love and I wasn't wrong about the strong part! but this is much sweeter. Molinards patchouli has an incense vibe to it, not in the traditional church incense way like CDG's Avignon more like the joss sticks they sell in those little shops you sometimes find tucked down a side street that sells bongs for wacky baki and poppers and things with peace signs and smileys on them lol.... whereas this is a lot like Angel minus the fruity/gourmand notes. Chocolate isn't listed as a note but I definitely get chocolate, dark sweet slightly bitter chocolate and tons of patchouli its smooth and smells slightly powdery. The dry down smells like ive dusted myself in a dark magical chocolate patchouli powder, its gorgeous and for the price an absolute steal. If you enjoy angel you will most probably like this. If nirmala is Angel minus the patchouli/chocolate this is the opposite...Angel minus the fruity notes...in fact if you layered the two you would have something very close to Angel..or maybe better! mmmm will have to try. As for silage/longevity 9/10 on me and I could still smell it on my scarf after it had been through the wash I don't own many fragrances that stay on my clothes after a 40 degree wash but the ones that do cost me 3 or 4 times more than this and I always take it as a sign of a good quality scent. Im very happy with it :)

Molinard's Patchouli Intense features a rich, spicy essence that adds breadth to the familiar and much-loved accord of patchouli. This is definitely woodsy, but there's at least a nod to gourmands with the nougat and vanilla, but the florals help with the balance, as well. At the low price point, this fragrance is a no-brainer for the patchouli-lover. For people who like a purely straightforward patchouli at everyday prices, I do recommend Molinard's Patchouli, but for someone who likes more than one note, this one hits on all cylinders. I spray only once, and longevity is not massive, but substantial enough, and sillage was not overpowering, which is a worry with many patchouli fragrances. Lush has a bath bomb called "Lord Of Misrule" that they introduced in Fall 13 that smells very much like this fragrance. I adore how I and my bathroom smell like this after I use that bathbomb, and I'm so pleased to now have found a perfume that smells so similar. This one is a total win, to me. With this price point, I always worry that a pleasing fragrance will tip at some point to a cheap sort of smell, but this one has not yet. Glad I have the bottle and didn't have to pimp out my puppy-dogs to obtain it. I'll wear this on days I'm in jeans with my western shirts with pearl-button snaps. Sort of Daisy Chainsaw, if you will.

I just purchased a back up bottle of this!! I have absolutely been engulfed today in the best patchouli scent that I own. It has had great longevity, I applied quite a bit this morning around seven and it is still very noticeable to me at 3 pm. I don't have to try and find the scent either, it sort of just wafts around me. I dont think this is what some people refer to as a dirty patchouli, this to me is more cozy and inviting and deeply sexy. I do not get that incense vibe that accompanies many patchouli scents. This to me is the perfect patchouli and if you are searching for a wearable patchouli that makes you feel calm and serine, yet enticing than this is a perfect choice. I love Habinata and quite a few more from Molinard, but this is creeping up the latter to being my absolute favorite. It is pricey, and it was a blind buy for me but it was also one of my best purchases. I ordered my back up today and if your interested Molinard.com has a buy one get one 50 % promotion. I doubt I need three full bottles, but I will definetely indulge myself in this scent whenever I want.

My first encounter with this perfume was at a local perfumery's closing down sale. It was a tester in a bin near the door, marked at $5. On a whim, I sprayed the back of my hand as I was leaving. Hours later I could still smell it strongly. I thought at the time it would layer well with some other perfumes I have. I went back to the store at the next available opportunity but it was already sold. Months later when compiling an online order I remembered it so I looked for it, found it and added it to my order. Now I use it just as I imagined I would. The first time I did I applied one full squirt to the back of my neck along with about 5 squirts of CK One Shock. 3 days and 2 showers later I was still faintly aware of its presence! (No other fragrances applied in between.) It is because of this strength I am not yet game enough to use it on its own. So even though I did not get the $5 tester my purchase will still be one of the most economical I ever make because of how little I need to use. I expect my 100ml bottle will last many years.

Being a Patch-head I searched out all 3 Molinard Patchouli fragrances, and this one seems to be my favorite of the bunch: Molinard's Patchouli - The simple "homme" patch. Molinard's Vanille Patchouli - Lots of Vanilla patch. Molinard's Patchouli Intense - Rich chocolately patch. Yes this patchouli is rich chocolately which I guess is derived from the combination of vanilla & nougat. This aspect I completely adore in this fragrance; however, it's not the only setting that this scent provides; I also get a weird orangy?, almost syrupy-sweet type of smell in the opening that is not very pleasant to me. I'm wondering if it's due to the orange & nougat scents combining? It almost has a sour-zest bit to it that is not pleasing for me. Thankfully, this portion doesn't last long at all. The mid is the best part for me - Rich dark true pure Patchouli! I love this part of the fragrance. The dry-down is pleasant enough.. a smooth vanillic patch. A Tricky fragrance that is a must try for fellow Patch-heads out there.

Hickory Smoke's bottle from Fragrancenet was a synthetic disaster, but mine from Fragrancenet was wonderful. Perhaps the other bottle had turned. I get pure powerful patchouli, with sweetness added to be feminine. I definitely pick out orange and jasmine. I am actually wearing this as I write. It's been on about three hours so it is mellow, dark and sweet and my husband loves it. I walk by, and he follows in my wake saying "what is it?" I do have to wait about 30 minutes for it to calm down enough for me to appreciate it, but it is worth it. I'd highly recommend this to women who love dark patchouli, woodsy orientals. Great sillage and longevity, too.

For some reason the bottle of this perfume reminds me of something Edgar Allen Poe would have laying around his disheveled apartment here in the Bronx. Anywhoo, the important stuff is inside the bottle- this IS a real Patchouli scent, and purely so. I smell orange peels, and a drip of chocolate. Its not a dirty Patchouli, it's light on my nose (meaning it doesn't sting my nose like my pure patchouli oil) And I can still have my sweet/ earthy fix at the same time while wearing this masterpiece. If you're a huge patchouli fan, then make your purchase of this gem, the price is extremely affordable for a fragrance so delectable.

I got a sample of this and can't believe how delicious and intriguing this is! After wearing the sample for days, I knew I had to get a bottle. I am now the proud owner. Soon it wasn't enough to just spray it on and enjoy it during the day. I had to put it on at night, and sometimes I even come downstairs in the middle of the night for another spray. (Don't they have support groups for this sort of thing??) This has great sillage and very long lasting power too. It smells of cocoa but not like a sweet chocolate bar. It's delicious cocoa, orange and patchouli. It's hypnotizing!

Just bought this blind as part of my ongoing love affair with patchouli. What a surprise. The first overwhelming smell on me was dark chocolate that fairly swiftly tones down to a wordy, earthy patchouli fragrance. Someone described it as dirty which I think is very apt. There is a sweet edge to it but on me the dominant note is 'undergrowth', damp soil, like sex on wet, earthy land. Very bold, don't get this unless you like to make a statement. The bottle also tells you all you need to know - it's black and very sexy.

I just got this wonderful gem in the mail today at work. Wow!! this is the best patchouli fragrance ever made. I sprayed some on my wrist and it delights my senses. All my co-workers were asking me what it was with just ONE spray. It is very, very strong so 1-2 sprays should be enough. The patchouli with the vanilla and nougat make this fragrance the perfect gourmand. This is a fragrance Stevie Nicks would have laying around in the "Gypsy" video. It reminds me of that.

Ok, got this in the mail today. If you love "dirty" patchouli, then this is for you. Strong! And I mean strong. Just a touch on the wrist is all you need. All I get is patchouli, as if I had concentrated patchouli oil. Now I LOVE patchouli, but to me this is just straight patchouli with a touch of smoke. Will be using this to layer with other scents. Don't smell the amber or anything else. But I do love this one.

Beast mode and unapologetic. I love it but it can be a bit much as I found out today at work. This is a 2 spray max scent.I gave it 4 and projected all day and got some strange looks. Sweet and spicy with that dirty patch note is quite something else. I have had 2 10ml decants for about 5 years.This is not an everyday scent but is 100% unisex.

Now THIS is patchouli! I see notes for perfumes saying they have patchouli in them but I don't smell it. Patchouli is so strong, earthy, heady in this perfume! I LOVE IT! It's the scent i remember so fondly from the 70's!

This is such a beautiful patchouli scent! Love it! I do agree with other reviewers that notice a chocolate note. I think this is a very unique fragrance. It is very strong and two sprays lasted 12+ hours.

The best patchouly whitch I have come a cross. Really dark with chocolate flavour. All listed notes are present and create together a great winter fragrance1

Totally unisex. The dry down is very similar to a*men.lasts on clothes for days. I enjoy it now and then. Price is right for what it is. 7.5/10

Not my favorite patchouli but this is a lovely comfort smell with candied orange peal and chocolate. A tad gourmand just enough for me. Try it.

Cold,damp black earth from the churchyard meets artificial candy paradise. And this is no olfactory journey or itinerary from one place to the other. They coexist. And the result doesn't even strike me as particularly schizophrenic.Indeed I find it harmonious ; But then the perfume industry started to take risks with this kind of compositions about two decades ago and note associations that might have seemed shocking say in the seventies, will make nobody bat an eyelid today. I get a bit of orange peel too, but only if I strain my nose and because there is a pyramid that tells me that it is there. No jasmine ( a pity, I envy those who are able to detect it ). With Patchouli intense, I discovered that patchouli doesn't always give its best when it is cold. At first, I thought that PI and my skin were not meant to get along because I couldn't find anything intense about it. In fact, it was quite weak compared to original Molinard Patchouli. Then one day, while browsing the reviews on here I read something about patch "hating the cold" and that if one has a problem with the strength of a patch scent during the colder months, it is a good idea to give it another chance when the temperatures start getting mild. And This is exactly what happened. On the other hand, I still haven't got an explanation for the fact that The other Molinard patchouli performs well in winter. Perfume really is a complex thing. All in all this is a pleasant experience ; I am glad I got to know PI but it is not something that I will re purchase. Their "regular" patchouli appeals to me more. Yes, I tend to have conservative and "safe tastes" perfume wise. Don't know what is currently going on at Molinard . They have recently re packaged some of their "Les Fleurs" fragrances ( Do they have reformulated them too ?) And "Les orientaux" have disappeared from their internet site too. Hopefully they are not planning on discontinuing them ( Ecoute Moi has been ), since I am seriously hooked on a few of them.

To my nose, the patchouli in this fragrance bears a few similar characteristics to Serge Luten's Borneo. It's bold, camphoraceous, woody, and earthy. Another similarity is that they both have a chocolate gilded edge (even though this one says nougat and vanilla, I smell chocolate). Whereas Borneo is quite dry and refined with a bitter cocoa, Patchouli Intense is syrupy, especially in the initial stages when I am reminded of those chocolate and orange candies they bring out around Christmas time. Sillage is good, and longevity is outstanding, probably one of the best I've ever experienced. I can still smell traces of this on skin after taking a shower, the day after putting it on. Having said all this, I think I prefer Borneo.

On my skin this has a barnyard (animal)feel. I love patchouli and i usually wear the oil and i was looking for a good patch perfume to get a break from Angel. I tested it but was not thoroughly impressed with it, but my perfume guy i.e the man i buy perfumes from said this particular fragrance drives men wild. I am yet to test it on my husband to see if this is true :) p.s Patience pays......the drydown is amazing as the vanilla becomes more prominent! Patchouli? Vanilla? Win Win situation!

Truly gorgeous, intense patchouli that reminds of dark powdery chocolate, especially in the first hour. The drydown reveals the more regular camphoraceous aroma, while the edible cocoa impression keeps in the background and gives it a comforting, soothing quality. Patchouli Intense is rather similar to Yves Rocher Cocoon (but much better executed and with incomparable lasting power); if you're into that kind of thing, you will absolutely adore this. Chocolate for the patchouli lovers. :)

@ Beaufort The new release of Patchouli Intense in the 75 ml golden coloured bottle is the same scent as this one, you can safely order it. I've been wearing both with pleasure. Projection and longevity are very good for 2017, better than much more expensive brands. Molinard is still doing a very good job.

INTERESTING AND RICH, LASTING AND COMPLEX. STARTS AS INTENSE DIRTY PATCH, LIKE ANGEL, THEN TURNS INTO ELEGANT VANILLA WITH TOUCH OF POWDER. VERY DESIRABLE AND CLASSY PATCH!

Ooooh, this is so not a blind buy, and not in a good way. I think there was an article here on this scent about a week ago, but I can't find it now. It implied to me anyway that it was really intense patchouli. Unfortunately not; it's a really safe femmie sweet floral scent that doesn't have an ounce of the patchouli intensity I was hoping to experience. Patchouli and Woody should be pushed way down the Accords list on this, and balsamic taken off entirely. The black bottle is the only intense part; this juice should be in a bottle painted pink and/or covered with pink plastic,sort of like that little pink bottle Ricci just brought out. The reviewer who called this beast mode must have a different scent than what's in my little "not for sale" commercial sample. Beware that nougat middle note; it's all nougat and vanilla. And not an old fashioned homemade nougat either, but rather like being in a 1950's dime store that just got a new shipment of Brach's Nougat from the factory/chemist and it's wafting all over the store smothering everything. It's all just wrong... But it's not horrible; wearable if you aren't expecting intense patchouli. It should be called Intense Nougat, but I don't suppose that would sell as well. There are buyers looking for this type of scent, and they'll never suspect it's in this bottle.

a deep dark and dirty terrys chocolate orange Angel. strong. thick. heavy. boozy even...(in the way port is sweet, syrupy, and aged in wooden barrels). intense?...yup. if you are looking for masculine gourmand patchouli woodiness with a jasmine and neroli dry down, then this might be for you. patchouli blended such that with the white flowers, plus a sweet dense vanilla made this have the same "effect" on my being as a LouLou or an Angel...that is, despite loving it madly, i need to love it from afar, to have it floating towards me on soft waves, through the ether...rather than wearing it on my skin and inducing a kind of sea-sickness. lovely bottle and Molinard are still way up on my list of incredible perfumers. longevity and sillage are great.

The first blast of this kicks my nose's ass. It whimpers and retires like a dog when subjected to it. Pungent and vaguely offensive, somewhat "moldy". The drydown is more tolerable, but still smells vaguely off. Like an opened bar of nougat that was forgotten in the pantry for way too long. I normally consider myself a fan of patchouli but this just doesn't work for me.

I thought this was a synthetic disaster...I purchased this from fragrance net maybe I received a fake but I've had good luck with them in the past. It was a scrubber for me. I'm a fan of this house but wow was I disappointed. All I got was fake Vanilla, Nougat, Orange, completely covering up the patchouli.

First wearing, just used half a spray, since many said it was very strong. I get the nougat type quality, and at some point it almost seems like milk chocolate but not enough for it to satisfy that niche for me. In any case, it's sweet and candy-like (not hard candy) for a while and then after perhaps two hours it's more balanced. I like it, and at this point I can understand that some might call it A*Men without the tar note, but then some vetiver comes through. If you already have a gourmand/patchouli scent you may not find this one to be "necessary," especially at current prices, but I certainly don't have anything bad to say about it. It may make more sense, though, to try Cuba's Prestige first, because that is very well done and a lot cheaper right now (and is more or less unisex as well). UPDATE: Second wearing. I'm finding a kind of note clash here and it's not pleasant, which is the only reason I'd wear a scent like this. At this point, I'd say I prefer Cuba Prestige and a few others, including Molinard's apparently long-discontinued Patchouli Plaisir and Patchouli Oriental (the former being at least somewhat gourmand and the latter not being gourmand in the slightest).

The bottle is solid matte black and vaguely coffin-shaped, like the bottles decanting poison liquids used ever since glass became a household item. Or perhaps it holds a potion of some kind... The fragrance is as dark as the bottle, with patchouli that's woody yet clean, with a sweet component. For me, the sweetish smell is licorice, specifically Good & Plenty Candies; black licorice wrapped in a pink or white confection shell. Maybe that's only me, though, none of the other reviewers mention it, and there is no anise either in the ingredient list or included in the scent makeup. Given the sugary component, this is a lighthearted scent for me, a day scent. The confection layer is gone almost as soon as the fragrance dries on the skin, and the patchouli remains for a very long time--it sometimes makes it through a laundering. That said, I would not wear this to a doctor's office or on an interview; it is a date or home fragrance.

I am so disappointed with the fragrance especially after taking time to read all the reviews. I don't smell the chocolate and the patchouli (the reason I bought this fragrance) doesn't appear until the end of the dry down and then you can barely tell it is there. All the lovely notes that are identified in the fragrance are lost - overshadowed by a very unrefined sweet tone that may (it is a stretch for me) be the chocolate. I bought the fragrance blind and now I sorry I did. Based on past reviews of other fragrances, this is the first one that hasn't been a total success - boo hoo......I am still looking for a real Patchouli fragrance, earthy yet sophisticated. If you have any suggestions, please share.

I have been a pretty big fan of molinards as a whole and this is no different. When I applied this I thought of lush karma a little with the orange note and wondered if there was any toffee or caramel. Turns out it's nougat, my 2nd nougat patchouli that has wormed it's way into my collection & heart. Bvlargi mon jasmin noir. I'm tickled to smell some jasmine in patchouli intense too. The first spray is very intense and frictional dirty patchouli, but the dry down is sweet and lovely dirty patchouli. I like the a*men feel. I love to wear this on rainy fall days. Anyhow this patchouli is orangey, dirty, and delicious.

This was a blind buy that surely did not disappoint. This is an amazing patchouli fragrance for an equally amazing price. The best part is the drydown, where the vanilla makes the patchouli even more multidimensional. There's a certain guerlainesque feel to this... It's as beautiful as patchouli can be, with that chocolatey, dampy, earthy, sweet presence that we expect... Go easy on the application, this is surely intense...

Big Bang of patchouli at first just like the 1970s oil. But it soon gets eclipsed for me by a more modern confectionery note and soon smells very much like Shalimar Initial. The patchouli must trundle on as it is very noticeable still on clothes in the washing basket days later but all I can smell is the cotton candy note that is probably nougat and vanilla.

My first blind buy and I am thrilled. Had to order through a French website, but totally worthwhile. Gorgeous patchouli fragrance, I layer it with Patchouli Noir to cut the chocolate sweetness back a bit. The bottle is a real beauty, I will be ordering another bottle of this very soon, for this one is very hard to come by.

A sweet dark chocolate like liquor with patchouli is what I'm mainly picking up. It is rich and gourmondish and smells very nice if you like dark sweet scents. Underneath this is a dose of sandalwood supporting the star of the show notes. I get about seven hours longevity and projection is pretty good.

Shimmering leopard chameleon that flickers between sultry aspects of patchouli and vanilla. More than sillage, it has a dark satiny presence. Embroiling the air that surrounds you, making a nexus of dense vanilla patch that purrs for hours. Twitching my whiskers in delight.

This particular perfume I was considering buying as a gift for someone. I was so smitten with it's strength and quality. In many ways bought it for myself, knowing I'd share it :o) Great fragrance. No regrets and a delight to use.

i got this today as a blind buy , and wow its such a hippy sort of scent in good way , for those who like angel you will love this with out a hefty price tag , only thing is its hard to get in nz so i will savor my bottle

For those who like patchouli. Sweet and fruity opening, in the drydown patchouli dominates with intensely earthy aspect, a fund that brings something soapy at the same time milky-chocolaty, interesting. Fully sharable

This is far lovelier than the new version, which smells more like a chocolate factory than intense patchouli. Such a shame that Molinard had to revise this wonderful scent - downwards in my opinion.

Sadly, first impressions can be deceiving sometimes. I can not tolerate this fragrance. It just overwhelms me. Anyone interested on a 95% full bottle please PM me.

Have Molinard redesigned the bottles? 😳 Horrid. Cheap looking square things. What a shame. I have no desire to try any of them now, and I did want to.
