Vanille Marine

Really funny to smell it straight from the bottle - vanilla and salty fish. But on the skin it's unbelievable good. Vanilla, boozy, creamy and bright (similar to the one in Le Couvent des Minimes - Cologne of the Missions) swirled with smoky caramel and a pinch of fresh, salty herbs. A gourmand with a twist. Like one member said, it's like eating a vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce topping on the beach <3. After some time it gets nuttier and drier, reminding me on neapolitan wafers with hazelnut filling. Niche quality with an unbeatable price. A masterpiece. Update: Yesterday BF picked me up to go to the post office and I just applied Vanille Marine few seconds before I went. "What's that terrible smell? Uggghh, it smells like fish food, what are you wearing!?!" I laughed so hard! But I promised to him it's just the "opening" of a beautiful scent. He insisted that it smells terrible, but after we went back to home, he stopped to comment - which I assume was the sign, that the smell turned pleasant or at least bearable to him. I personally agree it can be a little polarizing in the first few minutes, but after that it's just wonderful. The second funny thing that happened was that on one day a bee had an ambush attack on me. I runned down the street for a quite a while. Slowed down and looked back. It was still there! Started to run again and again and it didn't stopped until a few runs. The bee was probably just trying to find out what this pleasant smell was, but to me the situation was a little scary, but at the same time also very funny and entertaining, haha.

My review is short and simple... It's a sweet aquatic & a bit earthy with a hint of spice It smells great, you can wear it year round. But shines during the late spring and all of the summer... A nice hidden gem, in your armory. This will be perfect for walks on the beach, parties, late night walks in the central park with your other half and cuddle on a bench talking about nothing. I used six sprays...both wrist, back & front of my neck, chest, and front of my shirt. Will I buy this again?...Yes. What's the strength of this? EDT. Can you use it as a unisex scent? Yes. Vanilla has been done to death and after the arrival of cupcake type scents one might be forgiven for thinking that somehow all roads lead to the kitchen cupboard where you left the bottle of vanilla essence open. There was also the omnipresent "sugar" note (ethylsomething) that I ended up confusing with vanilla. It seemed I was done and over with. Thankfully vanilla can be done differently after all. Vanille Marine is very deceptive when you first spray it on, in fact the first 10 minutes there is a strange "Lys Soleia" vibe about it which obviously cannot be expected from any of those notes. So there is a fleeting resemblence of something lilly and perhaps ylang ylang but no worries it disappears quickly and Vanille Marine settles into its true self. It is hard to imagine a non-sweet vanilla and this scent does not aim to be, however its sweetness is not that of icecream or icing sugar. Rather the carrier seems to be a buttery salty caramel dessert. Whereas I am almost anosmic to caramel in other fragrances (e.g. Prada Candy)I can feel its lasting presence here. This is a grown up vanilla interesting enough to wear on its own yet simple enough for layering too. I bet this smells fantastic on a man, too.

It is a really lovely and well blended vanilla fragrance. Sweet, soft, light in the air, understated earthy elements, casual elegance, and slight caramelly warmth. I don't get any aquatic notes. I didn't realize it until a stranger mentioned it when I was wearing this, but Vanille Marine kind of smells like incense. In fact, it smells like sweet vanilla bean mixed with a Nag Champa incense stick. Not in a smoky way, it just bears a resemblance to the soft sweet earthy essence of Nag Champa. It has a sort of hazy and sensual vanilla quality. Even in the absence of a patchouli note, I still somewhat get a "hippie" vibe from this. Nonetheless, I am really really enjoying this scent. However now it is difficult to find anything "marine" about it, when I keep associating it with Nag Champa! Oh well. I have the feeling I'll be wearing it frequently this summer. It needs to be reapplied to last through a day. But others definitely smell it, so it has good projection. Solid A for this vanilla.

I just recieved this, and even though its not exactly as i imagened, its still very much to my liking. The inital 5-10 minutes blast is my favourite. Its a salty fresh wind bringing fresh sage, green moss and a very fresh discrete vanilla. It makes me think of summer in south France. I guess it is this part that seem to be very unisex to people. Quite soon, and a little to fast for me, the warm salty herbal blast settles down & Im left with a slightly green, slightly salty creamy vanilla, that lingers for a long time. Its very sweet and pleasant, and quite fresh, but I have to admit I miss the initial herbal-sage-kiss a little. I really get the combo of "marine" and "vanille" - its clever, and a new take on vanilla that I truly appreciate. In a sense I kinda like the change from Outdoors ocean freshness, to Creamy vanilla, its gives this perfume the sneaky unisex feeling that I love. I just wish the two bouquets had stayed hugging for longer. Together they are just a beautiful couple.

People always say this is like a salted caramel. ok. I get why it is described as such. However to me its not salty. It is watery/fresh/aquatic a bit of fresh sage growing by the lake side and strong vanilla. It opens up like this.. vanilla with a sort of ocean/lake/watery accord. it is more of a vanilla ice cream cone with ribbons of caramel throughout it....while walking on the boardwalk near the ocean/seaside/lake -- that finally ends up being just caramel sauce was poured on your skin and that part lasts for hours and hours. Vanilla gets stronger as it wears. After a while the vanilla takes over the ocean watery like notes and get stronger every moment you wear it...turning into straight up caramel. I think I just said that twice. ha! ok redundant I know, but this vanilla is worth checking out. It works well for summer, and is unique. It layers nicely with a lot of other scents as well.

Mmm, mm, mmmm! Vanille Marine is my very first Molinard, and it has completely met my expectations. It's a perfume dream for me, two things I love mixed up in ONE bottle--vanilla and men's cologne. It's a gourmand, aromatic fougere. Such a bizarre concept, but so beautifully executed. It reminds me of vanilla saltwater taffy and these delectable rosemary caramels from a local chocolatier. My mouth waters with the thought of them. There is an aquatic note that adds a realistic saltiness, like when you come out of the ocean and the extra-fine sea salt dries on your skin. Despite its gourmand tendency, the fougere part makes it hard for me to think of Vanille Marine as a gourmand. I like how it makes me "think of" saltwater taffy and caramels, but it doesn't make me literally smell like them. This perfume is a solid winner in my book!

This is not easy to find, but after sampling it a few years back, I couldn't get it out of my mind. Found a used half-full bottle online for a reasonable price and jumped on it. Happy to have it! Although it's a cologne, it seems to last so long even when I think it's gone. A unique aromatic vanilla scent that comes off as both aquatic and cookies at the same time. They dance with each other in the sea breeze. Not really salty, but has an airy marine quality, like the smell of your hair after you've been on a boat all day and your skin after being warmed by the sun. Throw in some baked goods, and that's what this smells like. The aromatics seem to keep this from being a gourmand vanilla and add a nice touch (especially with those aquatic aspects). I adore this!

Oddly refreshing, this is my 2nd time wearing vanille marine today. Today was a very stormy day in early september, the clouds were charcoal and it rained so much the streets flooded. Somehow the perfume captures perfectly with the mood, I don't think of ocean spray or beaches when I smell vanille marine. The herbal component in here makes the watery element in here a little earthy and dirty to me, reminding me of the way the earth smells not after the rain, but during the downpour. Grey streets with gritty rain water, water dripping from leaves, It is fresh and ozonic in a way. The vanilla & salted caramel component is warm and light leaving me craving for more. The way I hug a blanket to keep warm. The balance is very even and the fragrance is very original.

WOW! I just got this in the mail today and tried it immediately. I have to say that I simply LOVE it! It is a very full-bodied rich vanilla without any candy sweetness, but I do not smell any incense, as others do ( I am happy about that). The marine note is very prevalent to my nose, as well. My best comparison would be if you mixed two kinds of Comptoir Sud Pacifique fragrances together...2/3 of Vanille Passion and 1/3 of Aqua Motu. Highly recommended, especially for the $22 I paid on ebay for a full size tester! Edit: My 17 year old daughter said I "smelled like Dad mixed with vanilla". He wears Clean Perfume Cotton T-Shirt, so for men that also like vanilla this would be a great scent for them!

I may be reviewing this prematurely as I've only worn it for one full day. I am just too excited about it to not share. I got a sample of this, (and many other vanilla scents) from the very kind fragrantican Linzyb. Based on the notes, I would not have guessed that I'd like this. I have a hard time with vanillas, and the words sweet and caramel would have put me off. This has sweetness, but it's not at all cloying or overwhelming. It's light and fresh, and that salt note is incredible. It pushes this from pleasant to absolutely fantastic. It is, as I've read, like vanilla ice cream on the beach. I didn't think I'd want to smell like that, but it's so much better than I could have hoped. Wonderful.

A very pleasant vanilla perfume. I do not like very sweet perfumes but I do feel that this one will be a favourite in the colder months ahead. I get very little marine or salty notes in this one and I am a little sad as I was really hoping that it would be more pronounced. It is a very warm, humid day here so maybe I should leave this until the weather gets cooler. I did buy it with colder winter months in mind. Sillage and longevity are reasonably moderate on me. About 5 hours longevity and arms length for projection. A nice yummy caramel vanilla that is not screechy like many other cheaper vanilla perfumes. One I will wear with cuddly winter sweaters in the months to come.

First of all, I bought this blindly, an impulse buy no less. FragranceNet had a tester for around $20. Much less synthetic than Fancy. Where Fancy has notes of syrupy chemical caramel, Vanille Marine is like a spicy blast of summery air near the beach. It's unisex and yet so SEXY on me. The initial spray smells suspiciously like patchoulli but quickly becomes this kitchen/bakery type of smell, fresh and spicy without choking you or others around you. To paint a picture here: REAL vanilla ice cream with caramel syrup, to be enjoyed sitting outside in the shade on a summer day, near the ocean, inhaling the fragrant foliage haphazardly carried to you by a salty breeze.

Based on other positive reviews here, I ordered this perfume. I just received it the other day & when I sprayed it on my wrists, first was the marine scent and as it dried, the marine scent seemed to disappear and I smelled the vanilla fragrance. As time went on I smelled vanilla with caramel & decided I might like it after all. When I went to the doctor's office a woman behind the desk said "I smell cookies, I don't know where it's coming from." I said it might be my perfume, she said "I really like it!" So now I know even after a few hours after spraying it behind my ears & on my wrists, others can smell it.

This is the sexiest vanilla ever. The salty water gives the vanilla and caramel a little bit of an edge. It manages somehow to be simultaneously the "are you into it?" raised eyebrow and knowing smile (vanilla, but not "vanilla," if you know what I mean) -- AND the everyday, effortless, no-fuss, low-key, casual, wearable attractiveness I have come to appreciate as I've gotten older. I love smelling this on myself, but on a man it would drive me crazy! Lest I give the impression that this is a kinky fragrance, I will add that it's actually fine for all settings, the office included.

Oh, this one is really nice. I do love the hint of saltiness that you can smell in the beginning though it doesn't last long for me (20-30 mins). It is a sweet vanilla almost caramel scent. *sniffs again* And also marshmallows but I don't find it cloying. It is not an overwhelming scent though I think it has good sillage and longevity. I got it for about $20 bucks on Amazon and it smells like it costs a lot more. This will probably make a great layering perfume. I've tried it with Forever Elizabeth which has an apple note and it was lovely.

The more empty my bottle of this gets, the more I know how much ill miss it. I really wish Molinard would take this back or make a new version of the salty/herbal/vanilla/marine combo. Its genius! The longevity & projection on me is insane. I smell it after more than 10 hours on my skin and always get compliments when I wear it - even though I have a bottle that's many years old. If anyone have an original bottle available, please contact me. Or if you know of something that is very similar.

I was skeptical when I first read about this fragrance because I didn't want something that came off too feminine but the sea notes make the scent more masculine and blend really well with the vanilla. What is great about this fragrance is that you can get away with wearing it all year round, and at any time of the day! This REALLY works for me. Dear god, vanilla plus salty caramels plus herbs. Great! It is a sillage bomb and I smell like a grown up sweet dish (because of the herbs). Yum yum. It's not the most complex or refined perfumes out there, but it is so good on my skin (my skin usually amplifies herby-spicy-incense notes and sublifies sweet notes). One of the great vanillas of my collection. Thank you, Molinard.

I quite like this, though we'll see how longevity goes. I had to spray quite a bit mroe than I'm used to, it's not powerful stuff. So far it's salty vanilla caramel. The salt/marine note keeps it from being overly sweet but it's still clearly a sweet scent. I like it, but do I like it enough for a full bottle? Probably not, I'd prefer something with a little more interest honestly.
