Where are the sugar cubes in the note pyramid? Molinard's Vanille is the slight powder from a spoonful of confectioner's sugar, alongside an overflowing bowl of hard crunchy vanilla mini marshmallows. You know the ones in Lucky Charms cereal, or in instant hot cocoa mix? Those. I envy all the people who get neat vanilla, straight vanilla, plain ole boring vanilla. That's what I was searching for. Instead it's an aura of powdery crunchy white vanilla sugar sweetness. Longevity and projection are both good. I'm not sorry I got this, and like Frosted Lucky Charms, it IS magically delicious. It makes me smile and would be fun for anyone who is vanilla sugar crazy like I am. However, the perfect vanilla quest continues, for me anyway. Reminds me very much of CSP Vanille Extreme edt as well as Vaniglia del Madagascar by Il Profumi di Firenze. Same approach to vanilla. Edit: I read that this was brilliant for layering but didn't realize how true it was until I layered it with Serge Lutens' Un Bois Vanille. The resulting combination was perfection for me, in that the Molinard acts like a Polaroid lens, taking all the glare and noise away so that what's left is crisper and easier to see. With UBV, the burnt nuances as well as the coconut, became much easier to perceive. When layered with Hypnotic Poison, the anise popped for the first time. Molinard's Vanille is magic. I think my search may have just ended? Update: NEVER has a fragrance smelled more like a bowl of Lucky Charms marshmallow cereal. If that is what you seek in a perfume, look no further. Molinard Vanille is your answer. No doubt.

I blind bought a nearly full used bottle on ebay months ago for $8! I figured that even if I hated it I was only out a few dollars. Sadly the bottle had leaked in the mail, thus the box arrived soaked in scent, but what a heavenly aroma! For me Molinard Vanille is the PERFECT spicy, woody, bourbon vanilla scent. As a previous reviewer stated, one of the main ingredients is Benzyl Cinnamate, a strong, sweet, spicy resinous accord along with pure Madagascar vanilla pods and heliotrope. The combination makes for a true to vanilla pod scent that lasts for hours on my skin eventually mellowing to a cuddly, soft, vanilla pillow-like fragrance. I LOVE to spray this at bedtime and wake up in the morning still smelling it hours later! It's interesting to note that in France this is nothing more than a high end body spray, as opposed to a high class couture parfum. However, one or two sprays literally last over ten hours or longer on my skin! Out of the MANY vanillas I've tested over the years this has become my "Go to" winter scent for every day that never fails to make me feel cozy and warm or gain me compliments. Delicious! I was given Vanille Patchouli for Christmas and love that one as well. I do look forward to scoring more Molinards! I've been using Vanille ALL winter and have a small amount left. I must make a mental note to get another bottle ASAP. (I'll gladly take one off the hands of someone who doesn't prefer it)! :)

This pretty vanilla is proving to be quite a useful layering tool! I've been using it over Lush Snowcake and Hanae Mori EDP, to amp up the sweetness and make them each more of what I had expected in the first place! In short- this is a GREAT sweet layering vanilla. It is not the vanilla of Yves Rocher - it's a little less intrusive. And isn't as jaw droppingly sweet as the CSP line. It is softer and you can definitely smell the heliotrope essence. I love it. The vanilla in it is similar to it's sister fragrance Vanille Marine but without the earthy aspects. I actually do agree that it is like Montale's Vanille Absolu..... but this one is less plasticky. So I highly recommend this if you've done some blind buying and have a few fragrances lying around from wich you were expecting more vanilla gourmand or sweetness. A layering gem :) It's great alone too!! - for days when you want to smell vanilla sweet without complex notes or intrusive sillage.

I had been searching for the perfect vanilla fragrance for some time now and tried everything from Dior Addict & Juicy Viva to Lavanilla Pure & Demeter Vanilla Batter. Today, I finally received this mini spray and wished I would've ordered the full size. It's an ideal pure vanilla with a hint dark rum, the way a bottle of vanilla actually smells. I think it is pretty similar to Bath & Body works seasonal fragrance, Vanilla Bean Noel, but much more grown up, less dessert-like and has triple the staying power. It is also close to the wonderful, but discontinued, Vintage Vanilla the Gap put out in a limited run years ago (and is nowhere to be found, I've tried). It is simple enough to layer and but, intoxicating enough to wear alone. If you are looking for pure head to toe rich vanilla this is it.

This has pretty much been described to a tee by all the reviewers already. Great sweet vanilla without being sugary or buttery. Has a nice depth to it, is totally linear and would be a good mixer. It definitely smells almost exactly like CSP Vanille Extreme although I think I like this one better. My main issue is it doesn't last!! Terrible sillage and longevity! Maybe that's because it's so cheap so I don't have the right to complain? But that is the only disappointing factor of this otherwise lovely vanilla scent.

I absolutely love the original molinard vanille, which is simple, perfect, delicious, a dark warm vanilla....but this looks different. Is it the same?

It isn't often that I wish to smell like fresh baked cookies, but when I do, it's good to know that Molinard VANILLE will satisfy the craving! The vanilla smells quite natural, and there is a doughy quality to this composition, perhaps imparted by the heliotrope, which makes the association to cookies unavoidable. It does not smell quite buttery, but more like flour and sugar with just a smidgeon of butter for smoothness--along with a double dose of vanilla. It's not too sweet though--more like a batch which I might make, since I generally reduce the sugar in every dessert recipe, not because I want to consume less sugar, but because I find the prescribed proportions produce an overly sweet final product. It's hard for me to get all worked up about vanilla perfumes, probably because in the back of my mind is an image of that large bottle of organic vanilla extract which I nabbed at the airport before departing from Mexico a few years back. It set me back all of $5, so I generally scoff at haute niche vanilla solinote perfumes. This one, however, is a great value. Every vanilla perfume lover should have a big bottle of Molinard VANILLE. all things considered rating: 7

(This review is for Eau de Toilette) Pure and delicious vanilla extract with a hint of rum. The notes pyramid from Molinard website: Top: Vanilla Heart: Vanilla Base: Vanilla, Heliotrope I know that there is no rum listed but the beginning smells to me like a dark vanilla spiced up by the rum. In the heart notes the scent transforms into the pure vanilla extract, very delicious one and not too sugary. The scent stays linear and close to the skin. I agree with the previous reviewer that this scent will be great as a base for the layering. My only regret is the staying power. This scent does not last long on me.

I got this a few days ago, ordered it online, and as soon as I put it on I smelled like a spicy, almost tobacco, and vanilla. As soon as my husband smelled it he said "smells like cotton candy" now all I can smell is cotton candy! I don't think that it last to long either, not on me anyway, which is ok because I can't get past the cotton candy smell. It was only $20 bucks so I won't complain to much, but this is definitely a perfume that I'll wear very seldom if at all.

This is a very basic but very nice vanilla scent. If you're looking for smoke, booze or spice (or indeed any kind of complexity at all), this perfume is not for you, but if you want a simple sweet vanilla that doesn't smell cheap, cloying or suffocating, you might want to check this out. It's a comfort food kind of perfume: it's neither highbrow nor cerebral but damn, does it hit the spot when you're feeling a bit low. If you like vanilla, this is thoroughly enjoyable.

Smokey vanille noir done right! Reminds me a bit of I Profumi di Firenze's Vaniglia del Madagascar. This is not linear, really. It's what I expected from Yves Rocher's Vanille Noir and didn't get. It's a dark, sexy, grown up vanilla with some smoke and maybe a little bit of woods. I can see the rum that other reviewers elude to also. All in all if you like vanilla and want something more grown up than say, Comptoir Sud Pacifique, you'll love this.

Interesting. Opens with a Spice Girls lollipop accord that somehow manages to be boozy at the same time, Kir comes to mind. Vanillic, sure, but I swear I pick up a distinct note of syrupy blackcurrant. I envision a translucent but deep pink drink in a tall, curved glass with a layer of creamy froth and a cherry on top. You'll know if this speaks to you.

This vanilla is a delicious, deep, pure linear, soft, gently sweet, powdery vanilla skin scent that lasts about 12 hours on skin, hair and clothing. It's lush, but not at all heavy or dark. No citrus in this one, either....just a pure, moderately sweet, rich , creamy vanilla. Perfect !

I find this similar to LD Vanilla Bourbon but not as punchy or long lasting. Also, it's a bit more linear. Vanilla Bourbon is better IMO. This is an excellent scent for layering to either tone it down or add some nice vanilla to another fragrance.

THIS IS A TEST BEFORE YOU BUY SCENT! (which I did NOT do, unfortunately) One of the MAIN ingredients in this scent is Benzyl Cinnamate. Which is a STRONG SWEET SPICY BALSAM RESINOUS ODOR. Something that is used in stronger perfumes that are balmy and spicy. Right off the bat the first thing I smell is spicy cinnamon like aroma. There is a sweetness to it, but it is not gourmand. The vanilla is hidden behind all the spicy sweet. I do smell subtle hints of heliotrope in the background which make it extremely perfume-y. The spicy sweetness overpowers everything. I was looking for a simple, light vanilla, something to layer with. this is NOT it. Unless you want to add a spicy balmy sweet quality to other perfumes. This scent is closer to 24 Gold by ScentStory than it is just a lovely vanilla scent. UPDATE: I have smelled a couple other people's bottle. Seems I got one that was and OVER ABUNDANCE of the Fixative Benzyl Cinnamate. It is not bad at all, just not what I wanted. I am swapping or will sell my bottle cheap. The opening of Les Orientaux Vanille by Molinard is a very dense, syrupy sweetness that reminded me of the way my jumbo stick of lip smackers cotton candy smells. As it dries down I get a very sugary vanilla and then a semi-woody smell of smoke. It is definitely gourmand and would be perfect for people who like bakery/candy/foodie scents smothered in sugar! I got this in a swap and I had not smelled it prior to getting it, but it is a pleasant surprise. I was very curious because I have been on a quest to find a unique vanilla scent and although the cotton candy/ burnt sugar scents have already been done a hundred times, this one certainly is enjoyable – but not quite what I was looking for. I have a dear friend who adores these types of scents, so she will be delighted and my quest for a unique vanilla scent continues!

This was a blind buy for me~Thank goodness it was cheap!( I honestly do all kinds of blind buys and am usually pretty good at it.) I have been on a vanilla bender and was looking forward to something simple that I could layer with other things. Just a straight up vanilla. Instead I experienced straight up mold from this. Not just on my skin.....but as I sprayed it in the air, on a test strip.......there was NO getting away from the musty, dusty, smell of something that had started to turn green~that was not supposed to. One of the worst vanilla experiances ever...I'm not really into writing negative reviews, but I had to say something about this...TRY BRFORE YOU BUY!!

Lots of Vanilla, sparkling Vanilla. Starts sweet and goes deeper and darker after a short while. Great scent to use layer on layer with parfum's with woodsy notes and deep, dark flowernotes, and great to use on its own. Massor av vanilj, sprakande vanilj. Startar sött men djupnar och mörknar efter en liten stund. Supernajs doft och även en doft att använda lager på lager med andra dofter, då exempelvis med träiga eller mörka djupa blomnoter.

This smells more like burned sugar than cozy, rich vanilla. I`m highly disappointed... You can get the exact same smell from the MUCH cheaper Alyssa Ashley Vanilla or Yves Rocher Vanilla. And where is the heliotrope?! I had such high hopes for Molinard Vanille, and it has been almost impossible to find anywhere. Bah, humbug. :-(

Plain linear quite pleasant vanilla with a bit of powdery heliotrope in the background. Nothing special. Longevity weak, sillage moderate.

This is vanilla. It smells like a mix of vanilla ice-cream and vanilla extract. It doesn't really have any of the bitter notes you get from vanilla extract, it doesn't ave the cloying sweet notes vanilla extract can have and it has some of the creaminess of vanilla ice cream. So... I'm not very mpressed by this, but it's a soft and cozy smell I quite like :) When I wore it, the girls in my class were sniffing the air around them and liked this a lot, but I do feel a little like a bakery :P I prefer more complex perfumes, but when I only want something simple, I apply some of this and a little bit of Chypre d'Orient somewhere else and get a cozy, sophisticated fragrance. If you would like something quite vanilla-y, but more complex, maybe try YSL's Manifesto L'Elixir. It has a beginning that is totally different from this, but it mellows down to... vanilla... and is also very long lasting ;) You will not be able to layer other smells with it though because it's quite a complete fragrance experience by itself. But, actually, it looks like there are plenty of bottles of Vanilla on ebay.

Being in search of my HG pure vanilla (the sweetest, the most sugary, the most confectionery, the "cookiest" one), I would really have liked to test the original Molinard "Vanilla". But they unfortunately seem to have discontinued it : the one presented here on Fragrantica seems to be the reformulation of the original one. The "Vanilla" I would like to test is the blue-bottled one. Could people who knew the original one (so blue one ! ;o) ) please tell me which fragrance(s) come the closest ^^ to it please ? Could also people who knew the original "blue" one please tell me what are the diferences between it and that one submitted here on Fragrantica (the reformulated one) ? I am sceptical to anythng being reformulated (because that often means "adultered") .... Thank you. This arrived today in the mail (yep, a blind buy) and it is a very pretty vanilla scent. I really like the glass bottle too. Simple yet elegant. Starts out a bit boozy smelling but the boozy smell fades quickly and then it's like vanilla extract without the alcohol. It quickly moves to a more smokey vanilla. And then back to vanilla with a slight floral/herbalness (is herbalness a word? hahaha) to it. It is a skin scent almost immediately. I had to wear this a few times to be able to catch a faint waft of it. I'm going to try layering it with other scents since so many say how well this does with that. I'm glad I didn't pay much for it. I'm still on the search for a vanilla scent that has some decent sillage and last for 4 or 5 hours. The hunt continues!

Of all the vanillas I’ve ever tried, Molinard’s version is possibly the truest vanilla out there. For those of you who are looking for vanilla fragrances that AREN’T sugary or cake-y, try this one! It smells exactly like the vanilla extract from a bottle. I didn’t find it to be boozy, dessert-like, or anything else. It is JUST VANILLA with good projection and lasting power. For this reason, it is also excellent to layer with any perfume you’d like to give some depth and/or gourmand edge to. It is guaranteed not to interfere with any of the notes except for adding straight up vanilla to it. The dry down gets a tad powdery but I love that.

There are several Molinard Vanille scents, so not 100% sure this is the one I tried, but it looks right. First on, it was a super sweet caramely vanilla, but that passes into vanilla with hint of vanilla orchid. It’s fairly faceted: I don’t get the plain extract others reported. Dries to a vanilla with powder and floral hints, soft, very sheer so hard to detect though it lasts a long time like that. But very hard to detect. Reminds me somehow of Christmas when I was very young. Was there a scented doll or a lipsmacker or something like this? Powerful memory, but not quite placeabe. Not a full bottle purchase for me though.

I know that this is not a sophisticated scent, it's not complex or heady or "interesting" or evocative. Maybe that's why I like it. It's simple, straightforward vanilla. It's sweet, but not cloying. It's not so heavy that it's suffocating. It is just right for a winter's evening running errands or meeting with friends. I love this scent very much and have developed a real appreciation for its casual warmth, its coziness, its very comforting halo. This unprepossessing fragrance is one I reach for again and again, over much more expensive and vaunted signature scents.

I blind bought Vanille Marine and loved it! So, from the reviews of Vanille-- I had to get that one too. Bourbon vanilla is my absolute favorite vanilla... smokey boozy goodness. Yum. But this is basic at best. Just vanilla. Not smoky, I don't get any of the cinnamon or booze... just cheap candle vanilla. Oh well.... will work for layering I suppose. Also has no potency/sillage. :(

This is SO not CSP Vanille Extreme. That one is your playdough one, but I do like it. This one is the powder one. No Rum, or booziness, like a lot of Vanillas out there. It's baby powder w/ a touch of Vanilla, in that exact order. Not full bottle worthy to me, b/c most of my vanillas are much better than this. This is a skin scent for sure. Vanille Marine is a MUCH better option.

To properly appreciate this composition by Molinard you don't have to simply like vanilla, you should instead absolutely love it. If you're aware of this fact , what you'll get from Vanille is a perfect straight-forward almost mono-note fragrance of absolute perfection. Personally, I've to pass on. Rating: 8/10

I wish I could see what notes and what type of vanilla is used in this because it's very boozy upon first spray. Reminds me of Rum & Coke. I like it! It just amazes me how very different a vanilla scent can smell from one house to the next. I also had my husband try this on...WOW did it smell delicious on him!

Les senteaurs vanilla by Molinard is such a classes wonderful French perfume I get compliments on .Problem is I cannot find it anywhere on line.I would pay anything to get this again.This is the blue bottle version.I ordered lately the orienteaux vanilla by molinard will see and compare when it comes.

I just get kitchen vanilla with almost zero sillage y very poor longevity. No spices in my bottle. Similar to chocomusk by Al-Rehab but less intense.Must be good for layering.

Very sweet, I ALWAYS get asked what I'm wearing in this one. Often told that I smell like a cupcake bakery... I find that a positive thing : )

This is a very simple fragrance to wear, not really a special vanilla scent to me. The scent is a bit weak.
