Bushukan

This is a very substantive aromatic fougere that is made of quality ingredients that will format well over time. When I first experienced Bushukan I was quite impressed by its top citrus notes which were realistic and authentic. The citrus was the show, mainstay, and the b-all to end all. However, overtime, Bushukan aged into a more manly balance seasoned with thyme, tolu balsam, labdanum, and cedar. As such, put is quite gentlemanly but from an elite perspective. While I can easily imagine a professional gentleman wearing Bushukan, I cannot imagine an officer who is a gentleman wearing Bushukan comfortably. The Bushukan ingredient composition is just not typical of a military gentleman. Nevertheless, there’s always other opportunities when one is out of uniform. Uniforms wear fougeres that are less aromatic and more typically straight from the barber 💈 shop. Aromatic Bushukan is another dimension. Aromatic fougeres draw one in and invite further inspection of a more intimate variety; and on a nice, freshly clean skin surface they rarely disappoint. I was totally surprised it is made in England. Bravo!

This is such a beautiful summer citrus. I'm surprised at the lack of reviews here! It's not naturalistic, but nor is it as old-fashioned and perfume-y as say, the original Aqua di Colonia. It's just a really pleasant, casually elegant scent, and I've found myself reaching for it a lot in this hot weather. I love the first half hour or so, where the round juiciness of the lemon, lime and basil combo is in full effect. It then gradually fades away to dry woods and vetiver, but for a citrus fragrance I'd say it performs pretty well. I get 4-6 hours, with the hunch that other people can smell it better than I can even after that.

On my (female, dry, fragrance eating) skin, this was reminiscent of Terre d'Hermes with lemon instead of orange, and a moderate dose of vetiver. It's a paler, fleeting, more impressionistic rendition, but it's a pleasant fume nonetheless. For summer holidays and sensitive noses at the office. Longevity is weak but for the price it's not bad.

Tried this after receiving and loving the shower gel version. I quite like the fresh opening but the drydown is too "dry" for me with the cedar (mainly) and the vetiver been very prominent and it doesn't feel realistic to me. Not bad but there are better citruses for the price. I will continue to enjoy the gel though.

Nice clean, citrusy fragrance with some woods and vetiver in the background . Nothing special but nothing bad either. This does hint at Terre d’ Hermes but brighter. This also smells like Lemon Line by Mancera ( Lemonhead candy in a bottle). The is blind buy safe and wouldn’t offend anyone.

Meh. Cedar heavy, traditional men’s barbershop accent. Standard fare. Something like an after shave.

Loved the opening in the store, so bought it for a good price. They sell all their range as unisex in the stores. I thought it was a really fresh and sweet woody citrus, opening appeared unisex on my skin. However, the drydown was a bit too aromatically masculine for my tastes. Just traditionally soft citrus and vetiver. Not my thing at all, so I returned it, even though it was a total bargain in the outlet.

Very pleasant yet quite standard fare all round: a citrus/basil opening with a light cedar & brief herbal heart, with vetiver at the base, plus I also get an orange citrus note that’s not listed. I went through a 100ml bottle in about 5 weeks a couple of summers ago..... which speaks volumes about its longevity but it’s very inoffensive and quite uplifting. I probably get an hours projection and a further two as a skin scent before it’s gone. It’s one of those fragrances that you carry around a 50ml in your bag to freshen up with during the day and it’s almost impossible to overspray: it’s listed as an EDT but really, it’s no more than cologne strength in practice. I’m interested to try the newly launched 2019 EDP version to see if longevity has improved but I’m not holding out hope.....

Citrus and hay (vetiver, etc). Starts with a burst of citrus which is quickly underscored by the more herbal/woody elements of this. The citrus remains, but it doesn't "sparkle" - it provides a fresh edge to the dry herbs, and just a hint of sweetness, but doesn't take centre stage. I was about to say it reads "more masculine" to my nose and then scrolled up and realised that this one is actually billed for men anyway (oops). This is again quite light / transparent, and for all that there's a woody element to it it's still quite polished and clean - this won't offend anyone. Not too complex, just a handful of notes done well and blended smoothly. Would be perfect for a hot summer.

Stunningly good fragrance lime citrus fresh combination reminds me of how the old school aramis tuscany used to smell. Wish they sold this in 100ml bottles. Also wish it projects and lasted longer. Still a very nice fragrance. Ps Smells nothing even close to dior sauvage
