Delicious Rhubarb & Rose

Oh good lord, where do I even begin with this one?! I am an absolute sucker for rose, a fresh, youthful but vintage rose to be exact, I got all my rose kicks from Stella EdP which was so wrongly discontinued (read KittyDeBeauvoir's review for Paul Smith Romantic Edition Rose, she sums up my rage beautifully!) so now I will try literally any rose based fragrance to try and find something to replace it. On my rose garden walk, I've found some stunning roses, none of which can quite fill the Stella shaped void I have, yet they still have a place in my wardrobe because they are simply gorgeous in their own right and this is no exception. Delicious Rhubarb & Rose follows the typical Molton Brown style of being clean, airy and exuding an aura of being well groomed, so despite the name and the fact that cotton candy is listed in the notes pyramid, this isn't a sticky sweet gourmand (at least to me!). The opening is bright, airy and cheerful with a healthy dose of sunny citruses and lemongrass before quickly settling down to a smooth, fresh rosewater note. The rose here is light, clean and isn't jammy or overly sweet, it perfectly compliments the citruses and lemongrass and it never feels "thick", the rhubarb also follows a similar path in that its definitely there, but its quite transparent. There is also a light green snap running throughout Rose & Rhubarb's life on my skin which is from the mint, its not a toothpaste-menthol mint, this is a potted mint plant in a country garden during a warm day, it helps to break up the notes a little bit and give some dimension. The overall vibe is of a rose garden in an old Victorian manor house, but with a fruity, modern twist. Overall, Delicious Rhubarb & Rose is a totally versatile scent that can be worn easily during the spring and summer, or, during the cooler months to brighten up the dark mornings. Its office safe and works well for casual and formal wear and never feels like its "too much", anyone of any age will suit this modern classic. Longevity and silage are both decent with it lasting 7hrs on my skin and creating a light, airy aura around me. I'm glad I purchased a 100ml bottle and I'd happily repurchase this delicious Rosewater Eton Mess!

Sharp, tangy, deliciously fruity floral w/ a spicy zing of pink pepper. Luscious litchi, raspberry, rhubarb & rose blend that allows each note to sing. The rhubarb is reminiscent of Hermès Eau de Rhubarbe Ecarlarté EDC. And Delina must dance differently within my pores because I don't experience a similarity to this delectable Molton Brown elixir.

I have a travel set that includes shower gel, lotion and EDP. The shower gel and lotion smell like guava candy, pink bubblegum, and a hint of jammy rose. The scent is simultaneously tangy and sweet. They make my shower smell heavenly! The EDT is surprisingly different from the other two products. I get a lot more pink rose, less of the guava candy, and no bubblegum. I am confused to see mint listed here as there's definitely no mint in this fragrance. Sillage is low-ish. Nobody could smell it on me just twenty minutes after spraying 4-5 times, and we were four people in a small car. The EDT lasts maybe 2 hours and becomes a soft, sweet, clean, fresh and fruity rose. I personally love the shower gel & lotion. I wouldn't purchase the EDT separately and find it too flat. Molten Brown is most successful with shower gels. For some reason I get more of the intended notes with the shower gels and always find the perfumes too one-dimensional.

I used to relate scents to the scenary, so I always bought perfumes when I go to foreign country. I bought this one about 2 years ago, at Covent garden in London. The fresh citrus scent of Yuzu and grapefruit reminds me a joyful sunshine at Covent garden. Few momonts later, rhubarb and rose evoke me a cozy feelings of market. Though the weather was cold, I fent warm and cozy from people in Covent garden. The perfume brings me back to the peaceful evening in London every time I uses.

So disappointing - I get the rose but where's the rhubarb? I adore rhubarb and was excited to try this. Maybe it's just my nose but I can't detect any trace of it an hour after spraying. This is a pretty fragrance but I'll need to keep searching for that beautiful rhubarb scent that I crave!
