Geranium Nefertum

Geranium Nefertum opens up fresh & almost a little soapy (as in shower gel) clean. It quickly gets darker due to the fig leaf & green-ness, it’s kind of “earthy”. Geranium is not actually that prominent on my skin & I wouldn’t really describe it as being at all floral (despite geranium & jasmine being listed in the note profile).. As it wears into the dry down the woody notes come through, they are soft & creamy, with a bit of gentle musky sweetness. Lovely sort of muted mellow scent, especially on warm skin. I’d love to smell this on a man too. This lasts really well, but wears close to the skin. I really like this one & I think it’s quite an unusual perfume, & smells quite natural (imo). I think anyone who likes the Acqua Di Parma Blu Med range but wants to break away from citrus would enjoy this one. Nice, & very unisex - if you’re not into sugar bombs. Edit: My son has taken to this in a big way & is burning through my bottle. I now need a second bottle -as soon as lockdown is over. This perfume deserves more appreciation, it’s really lovely 😀

Dark, green, sweet, and minty. Not super fresh - in fact it's a bit of a heavy, rich smell, but it does wear nicely in hot weather. It's sort of a one-note barbershop fragrance if that makes sense, like Margiela's At the Barber or YSL Rive Gauche minus a ton of ingredients. I wore it straight out of the box after I got it and my partner said it smelled great (yay!) but also 'fruity' which I suppose is the sweetness from the fig leaf? I like it. It's linear, definitely inoffensive, and probably best for informal / gym / daytime sorts of activities.

Not usually my style of fragrance at all (I’m not usually a fan of the Chypre genre), but this is stunning. I find it hard to describe as I don’t really have many in this style, but I wanted to write a review as I review just about everything I try haha, but also because I was thinking it may lean too masculine for me based on the accords (I avoid aromatic woody unisex fragrances as they never end up being unisex enough for me). But this is not masculine leaning at all. It’s totally unisex. At first, you think it’s a bright, citrus, summer scent. But after 30 minutes the drydown suggests to me that this is rich and deep, an all season scent. It is aromatic, woody, a bit floral, but there’s a subtle sweetness to it, and a lovely rich depth. The sandalwood is deep and creamy, and the oakmoss and labdanum give it a rich complexity, almost a touch incensey. The sandalwood is prominent in the drydown, and I think it’s the use of sandalwood over another wood that keeps this unisex for me. This would make a great base layer for very light, fresh citrus summer scents to give more complexity, or even to add a woodybase to a vanilla. Never thought I’d like it so much, a very happy blind buy!

Right out of the bottle, Geranium Nefertum is very brisk and peppery. It was unexpected...a little harsh and I really didn't like it. After a few minutes though, I got the fig leaf, which was very nice and just a touch sweet. That peppery quality never goes away, but it turns green, a little minty which gives the scent a refreshing quality. This smells handsome. It makes me think of a handsome man in the woods on a nice, warm day. Though modern, Geranium Nefertum does have a classic, old school vibe...like that handsome man in the woods could be an Old-Hollywood matinee idol. This is good. It smells natural, but still very polished and sophisticated. I'm liking this one more and more.

Geranium Nefertum (Geranium Lotus?) is MB's "green" fragrance, and it succeeds by maintaining the core principles of a good perfume: (a) It smells good, (b) It smells fairly natural, (c) It exhibits interesting nuance, and, (d) It lasts. If you're in the market for a crisp, bitter-green EDT with a rich, peppery geranium, this is worth smelling. The sweetly nondescript floral base, though restrained, is a nice landing to a well-handled idea. One of the better scents in this line. Be warned, I'm a sucker for green scents, and consider things like Grey Flannel masterpiece material.

I love the fragrance itself, but it's much nicer (and makes more sense) as a luxurious, refreshing yet still decadent shower gel, which is also how I initially discovered it. The shower gel is great – I immediately purchased after getting a sample. As a perfume, it's not complex enough to sway true perfume lovers and also smells rather cologne-y and generic. However, if cologne and a slightly austere freshness are your thing and you wouldn't be caught wearing an opulent fragrance, this might be on the nice side.

I own a 50 ml bottle of the EDT and it is a little weak for me. It has a pleasant green, slightly minty accord and sweetness from the geranium as a unisex scent, just wish it were stronger. I need to test the EDP.

Enjoying this on a 21C tropical night, freshly showered after a bike ride. This is an interesting addition to a fragrance collection: a different and delightful, woody-fresh-green-floral-unisex fragrance.
