Suede Orris Eau de Parfum

Molton Brown Suede Orris EdP is very nice. Though I was hoping for something similar to Iris Prima, this does not resemble it at all. It has far more sillage and longevity than the Penhaligon’s. This does share the feeling of Serge Lutens Daim Blond though it is airier. Very silky texture with distinct mandarin at the top, The orris and benzoin lead the mid notes and the suede melds into it and stays throughout. Average to good sillage at arms length and surprisingly good longevity for an iris/ orris scent. This was bought blind, and I have zero regrets. Will likely replace it when it is gone.

A beautiful citrus/iris scent with a crisp, semi-tart airy quality & clean resinous finish. There is very little sweetness from the vanilla and it is only detectable 3+ hours into the drydown. It has very impressive projection & longevity for an iris-centric fragrance. Definitely unisex, refined and appropriate for daytime wear (I think it would also be great for layering). An underrated gem and a must have, especially if you can find it at a discounted price.

I love this perfume. It feels very elegant and feminine to me. It has the powdery iris with a hint of fruitiness and a hint of fine suede. The scent is not strong, but it lasts a long time. If it gets on your clothes, it will remain even after washing. I said it was feminine, but now I think it would be sexy for a man to wear too. If you have the chance, I would like you to smell this and understand how wonderful this perfume is.

This is so pretty. Very soft, feminine, unique, and extremely well-blended. I agree with papercrowncarrie; old money is a very suitable description. I need a bottle!

The opening is extremely elegant and quite masculine, green and herbal. As the scent progresses, an ozonic note takes centre stage. It might be violet (listed among the accords, so I'm clearly not the only one who can smell it here) although I think this particular note is more often identified as lotus - for example in Malachite by Banana Republic. The whole middle stage of Suede Orris smells very much like Malachite. Now, over 10 hours from when I sprayed this perfume, I can smell a soapy clean Iris. From the notes I expected a warm and cosy scent, but this is not the first iris perfume that I find surprisingly cool and fresh. I don't think I need a full bottle of this, but I thoroughly enjoyed wearing it today. I'm especially impressed with how beautifully the scent progresses. This is nice. Spicy initially but settles down to a soft, powdery iris and rose scent with a light suede undertone. Not a room filler but you can certainly detect it all day in close. As others have said, probably an ideal scent for daytime when you want to smell nice but not annoy thise around you. Perfectly unisex fragrance

This one starts off really nicely - for a minute or so. Then the freshness of the mandarin orange vanishes in the thin air and you are left with a stinky smell (some of the leathery notes, probably labdanum, together with pepper and olibanum) – not quite how you want to smell fresh from the shower. This internal battle lasts for an hour before all the notes settle in and iris steps forwards. I blind bought this one because it's becoming increasingly hard to find (it's been discontinued) and I was not able to get a sample first. I like fragrances made of well-balanced contrasted scents and I see this idea and intention written in the pyramid here as well, but the execution just doesn't deliver. I just can't get over that first hour of horrendous smell. If this was a Filippo Sorcinelli creation for the X Se collection, it would be called "Makup sex". Not a fan of the idea. Luckily, I was able to layer this nicely with another fragrance which adds freshness and help me go through the first hour and also adds a warmer woody and musky touch in the drydown. Used together, it's closer to what I wanted and I have been wearing this combo quite a lot lately: the iris here is powdery, well-balanced with sweet floral notes of jasmine and rose and a sense of lightness and freshness coming from the other fragrance. The leathery notes become warmer and cozier wrapping this up into an elegant and even sensual fragrance. The projection is very intimate, it becomes a skin scent relatively quickly, but can be felt for over 8 hours. In the end, I can't say that my money was wasted, but it was not well-spent either.

Barely smell it. What I do smell is that good .

Classy, old money, unisex and unusual. Understatedly sexy for itself and no one else. This isn't an ordinary, run-of-the-mill iris or leather fragrance. I get a definite woodiness that I see isn't listed in the notes, but the orris/iris is just heaven...for a quietly confident and self-assured person, possibly more on the mature side, this is not an easy, light fragrance but the right person will rock it. I find the dry down to be more feminine than the top and mid (especially on clothes), but this on a man would be incredibly intriguing. Warm, powdery, light floral woodiness...the colours of the bottle are spot on. Definitely for colder weather. An absolute love.

This perfume has a sensual presence, I smell mandarin and rose wrapped in iris, which melts down to a warm amber, suede and vanilla embrace. It's a great layering perfume, and plays very well with the milk musk offering from Molton brown. For me, it's an any time of year scent, although summer may be a bit too warm for a scent like this. It reminds me of a more mature givenchy very irresistible. It feels so familiar but also so new. It lasts a good 12 hours on my skin and my clothes. My husband says it's a sensual smell that lingers on pillows or in your hair. I will buy again for sure 🤍

I love this scent. It’s great for wearing at work, it reminds me of someone who gets down to business. I like the leather-y/peppery, yet sweetness that this scent has. I think the notes all blend well together. The sillage and lasting time are not great, but it’s definitely a little bit more of an intimate scent. Overall I like it and usually choose to wear it during the weekday here and there.

Beautiful soft suede iris, and leans very soapy. Fresh, clean, gently floral, the soapyness may be the florals that are on the old fashioned side. Overall works well and I love it, close to skin, a great easy reach for work or a day when you want to smell great but not like perfume.
