Suede Orris

Tested in store ...then bought it. This is a pretty & quite delicate scent. I can smell orris only at the initial blast, mixed with orange. It's lightly fruity - sweet, but not overly so or syrupy. As it wears down the suede note comes through & it becomes creamy & to my nose smells more "peachy" than anything (even though no peach is listed). I think it must be the floral notes that add to the smooth creamy effect too, although I can't pick them out individually. Although fruity, it is not tart or even as citrussy as I'd expect from the notes. The patchouli is noticeable in the mid notes. I see a "smoky" accord listed here, but I get no smoke whatsoever. I like the drydown, it's soft & clean smelling - a touch musky. Suede Orris has a sunny languid "golden" kind of feel to it - easy wearing. Also, to my nose it's not a million miles away from SL Daim Blond - if you like DB you'll probably like this..it is a lot sweeter & less sophisticated than DB though. Longevity (on me) is good - it's not a powerhouse but it does last several hours - plenty good enough for me! I really like this one, it's nicely blended. Smells really well made & of good quality, imho..I will wear this a lot :) I like these MB (this is my 3rd one) - they really have some great new perfumes now :) Edit Jul 19: I bought the matching body lotion, worn together the fragrance easily lasts all day & you can still smell it on clothes way beyond that. The SA in Motlon Brown told me that they are soon bringing out EDP versions of their perfumes..

It's nice. Unisex and versatile.

This is surprisingly lovely. Soft, creamy, woody. Mine has the new packaging than shown in this photo, so much nicer. At first it’s not sweet, and there’s a very faint kind of woody, almost liquorice root smell (not the sweets, like the actual woody stick you can buy). It is NOT a citrus scent, if there’s any citrus it’s gone in minutes. You need to let it warm up, as it does have an amber balsamic feel with time. As it develops, faint florals come through, it sweetens up a little (but is still unisex, leaning slightly feminine), gets creamier, and you can smell the patchouli too. Maybe even a musky feel on the dry down. It’s more body spray strength than EDT really, as it’s so soft, so it’s one to overspray (I bought the 100ml at a bargain price to do this). Will make a nice base layer under some fruity or floral scents that just need a bit more depth. Lovely on its own as a comforting night time scent, or for out of the bath. Not one for everyone, but it’s totally unique to my collection, and I’m glad I got the big bottle. I tested the EDP too, and actually preferred this one, but they smell almost identical. I’m surprised as by the notes I’d have thought I’d prefer the EDP, but I don’t think it’s different enough to warrant the higher price.

loved the top, as usual; they did it again but it doesn't last at all; what happened with longevity in these? Oudh Accord lasts forever. In the top, there was some sweet orange present then the elemi takes over with some frankincense. This does have a bit of an herbal insect repellant vibe but in an amazing way. It does feel like suede and a really toned down cured hide. I would call this herbal and balsamic with a sweet, smooth touch, not like natural perfumers, not jarring and harsh. This is not floral at all. There is some dried rose petal faintly mixed in along the journey but you would not ever call this note unless you knew it was listed. I wish they stopped cheapening thses so they lasted and projected like they used to just four years ago. This fragrance is not smokey. It is very creamy. Unique but like a light vintage toilet water or cologne.

this starts with a sweet orange, orris and maybe a bit of patchouli, but it's very subtle. there's something in the background that's difficult to describe. this is much sweeter than i anticipated. the orris gets stronger over time but the sweet orange still remains the dominant note. after awhile i realized this seemed kind of familiar, and then i realized it reminds me of calyx prescriptives which i used to wear when i was young. it's a softer, warmer version with orris, but there is a definite connection, at least on my skin.

First impression of this fragrance is pleasant, although this one is a unique scent. Pungent due to Olibanum, elemi mixed with Orris and soft rose scent.

I sprayed it on but unfortunately, I could barely sense it.

Diptyque Fleur du Peau blended with cigarette ash. Luckily it's so weak and short lived I didn't have to worry about washing it off. A shame.

This sounded like it was right up my alley as I love the two notes in the name, and all the notes in the pyramid, but it's a HUGE NO for me. I don't get orris or suede or any of the others all I get is a terrible fake rose room spray. I own Milk Musk which I love so I thought I'd try this but this was a terrible blind buy, my bad. Maybe the EDP is better?

It's nice, but it doesn't smell like suede and orris to me; it smells like laundry musk and peony. It's office-friendly and clean smelling, could work on anyone regardless of gender. The performance is kind of weak, so I'd say it needs quite a few sprays or an afternoon reapplication.
