Vetiver & Grapefruit

I’m a sucker for vetiver. The earthy, woody dry down is always a relaxing experience IMO. When I saw a 50ml bottle of this for less than $40 AUD, it was a no-brainer. For the price, I thought it’d make a fair addition to the gym bag or a scent I could throw on for casually larking about. This is no Roja, Creed or Tom Ford, but it’s not a bad drop at all. The grapefruit, spice and slightly peppery opening creates a fresh blast. The grapefruit smells slightly synthetic, but I’m not expecting a massively impressive blend. The welcoming entrance of the vetiver and cedar combine with the opening really well. I don’t pick up much patchouli. Maybe some sweetness from the nutmeg and cinnamon here, too. Projection is over an arm’s length from 2 sprays. Longevity is a fair 5 hours for an EDT. Overall, too good for the gym bag. Maybe not a top-shelfer, but good enough for any vetiver collector. Well worth having in yours.

This is pure citrus and patchouli on my skin! I detect a tang of lemon sherbet boiled sweets on the dry down and then it becomes a deep spicy skin scent. I absolutely love it but could be a little too spicy & masculine for some?

I really liked this fragrance on a tester strip, it was all zingy grapefruit and vetiver, it seemed to be pretty linear and last for days. I almost pulled the trigger based on smelling the card. However, I went back in to Molton Brown a few weeks later and they gave me a tester spray and it completley changed on skin. The grapefruit opening is very fleeting - literally minutes, and this enormous cardamom and pepper hits you and never really leaves you. This should never have been called Vetiver & Grapefruit it should be called "Spicy Vetiver"

This is a lovely fragrance. Very strong and will stay on your skin for 8hrs plus! Best way to describe this is an afternoon walk through an alpine forest whilst munching on a grapefruit! Very refreshing summery fragrance! The only slight downside is that I find this a little too sweet. Not one to smother yourself in! Still a truly great summery fragrance!

Bitter grapefruit with some spicy and woody nuances. Gradually the grapefruit disappears. It is ok, but a little boring & medicinal. 6.5/10
