Quartz Rose

Shortly after Vivre's revival in 1971, Molyneux launched Quartz Pour Femme in 1977. Sales quickly took off around the world, as its fragrance bore a lot of similarity to others of highly successful brands and more presence in the market, such as Diorella (Dior, 1972) and Cristalle (Chanel, 1974). And you were thinking that this thing of one company being inspired by others was a recent thing, right? Silly girl... I remember that in the ’80s, some girls from the neighborhood and school liked to steal a few droplets from their mothers' Quartz bottles. I also remember as if it were today, the first time I saw a bottle of Quartz up close, along with Givenchy's Gentleman. They belonged, respectively, to the mother and father of a friend who traveled abroad on vacation. I have many memories involving perfumery! So, for a few years, Molyneux seems to have been abducted, until it came back around here (Brazil) with the male version of Quartz, with which I have a true love affair. In 2008, the women's line was brought back to life with the release of Quartz Pure Red. In 2012, the Je T'aime version came and, in 2018, this Rose version. Quartz Rose is a floral and oriental Eau de Parfum, with notes of almond, lemon, and pear, in the head; Jasmine, tuberose, and rose, in the body; Sandalwood, tonka bean and vanilla, in the base. And despite carrying flowers known for their pronounced, almost narcotic content, the fragrance opens very light. When touching the skin, it brings a very youthful bittersweet smell, with a deliciously fruity and green aroma of juicy pears. Just do not keep smelling it all the time in the applied area, because the astringent aspect may become more noticeable, and the brain fails to identify the good to focus on what bothers. For the body part, forget about tuberose as you know it. Here, the facets explored were those of fruity aspect. Jasmine and rose dominate and bring that air of sophistication well known in other fragrances of the type. Finally, the citrus glow of the beginning fades, and Quartz Rose increasingly becomes a mix of jasmine and vanilla. Quartz Rose does not exude much but has good durability. For an Eau de Parfum, it deserved a little more essence, ensuring more presence in general. But it is a chic, modern and youthful fragrance with a touch of elegance, very pleasant for the work environment. Not to mention that the price you pay for a 100ml bottle in Brazil (around R$ 150 during my testing period), after the whole importation phase, is a great deal for a French brand that has completed 1 century of life. Worth a try!

I have had this perfume for a while, I noticed I never did a review and the ones here are not accurate. FIRST: There is NOTHING similar to Good Girl, which I can't stand. This QR is absolutely inoffensive. The GG is annoying and heavy. This is a very delicate, flowery/citrusy scent. The lemon is soft, not overpowering at all. The almond is too light to notice it. SECOND: The bottle is GLASS (there's a comment that says it's plastic? I don't think it's original). Fortunately, the rose is not the predominant note, but the other flowers stand out. It remains fresh and clear, slightly powdery (I don't really enjoy powdery scents but this is okay). The pear is more noticeable while it’s dry down, so I would say is a middle note. Very suitable for warm weather and to not bother anyone with this, so it's good for office, gym or others. I don't really smell the vanilla or tonka here. Anyway, I have just a few perfumes, I'm really peaky but this is lovely and very cheap.

Molyneux Quartz Rose begins with sweet tangy pear and almond, transitions to rose and jasmine, and eventually dries to rose and musk. The opening is beautiful. Smells much more expensive than it is. I stayed away because almond sometimes gets weird on me, but once I finally tried this I was quite impressed. It reminds me of Delina La Rosee; by no stretch is it a dupe, yet it belongs to the same scent family. Same category. I am a huge fan of the original Molyneux Quartz. If you like that one - a crisp, dry green soapy chypre in the classic style - that does NOT mean you will like Quartz Rose. This one is sweet and very modern. Nothing like the original at all. The longevity is only so-so, but at this price you can respray. Critics may say MQR has a chemical tinge. Fine, but it is a beautiful chemical tinge. It's the action of the almond, I think. But I tend to scapegoat almond notes, blaming them for anything odd in a scent. Almond or whatever, I love MQR. Just a good, big sweet rose, a gourmand rose. If you like that sort of thing, which I do. The bottle is glass, but the CAP is plastic. Just FYI.
