Rose Etoile de Hollande

i have 100ml of the "champagne cork" version. stamped 20904311. sweet sour and peachy. not ripe peach but just past green with clove hint. for me, it also has a sharp contrast that i like about kumquat, if there were such a thing as a lemon/bergamot kumquat. almost lemon verbena. pleasant, leans "femme." compared to many damescene otto or taif rose scents it comes off like a fruit macadonie rather than a soliflor. not sure it is a "summer," but more like an museum quality painting of a still life brightly lit on a chilly afternoon, winter light, very faint yellow topaz. one imagines the rose, one imagines the aura of the rose. lunch at the museum cafe, a glass of chablis. 21 jan 21: something about the last rose of summer. sutherland singing the song on an old decca recording, and this di orio's last creation, and my using up my only bottle of the original formulation. heartbreaking over the top romantically rich. already, i know i will miss it. the passing of pleasure, the end of living things, the sublime glory of it all. not romantic as in valentine day box of chocolates, red roses, champagne tacky sentimentality, but continental melancholic young werther (without the problematic psychotic stalking.) bordering on the "goth." ok, it's a hazy gray sub freezing day outside. here inside, etoile de hollande is no longer a mere image of rose, but the poignant last breath. it is intense on me, filling the air. if ever a perfume tells me it is better to have love and lost than never to have loved at all, it is now.

Rose Étoile de Hollande was created as a tribute to Mona herself, inspired by a climbing rose growing on the wall of her home, Maison Sainte Blanche in Cabris, France. That rose is known for a distinctive profile powdery, slightly earthy, with a soft white peach nuance and a gentle clove like spice. The fragrance reflects those characteristics with notable fidelity. On skin, the first impression is the softness of white peach, carrying a faint powdery petal texture and a touch of clove spice. The rose arrives quickly afterward—dense and concentrated, with a subtle oiliness and dryness that gives it a distinctly classical weight. As the scent moves into the heart, the clove becomes more defined, keeping the rose warmed by a persistent spicy undertone. A trace of geranium introduces a hint of greenery, preventing the composition from becoming heavy. In the drydown, a leather-like nuance emerges. This effect does not come from a single leather note, but rather from the layering of cedar and patchouli. What remains on the skin is a quiet, darker toned rose. Structurally, it fits the classic rose–spice–wood–balsam framework. The architecture is clear and traditional, with the focus consistently anchored on the rose itself. Complexity is not pursued through dramatic transitions, but through the gradual support of spices and woods that build depth around the central flower.

Rose Etoile de Hollande is fabulous and so beautiful! Juicy white peach, rose, clove, benzoin and heliotrope dance together and create a captivating number. The rose in this fragrance is no diva; she shares the stage with the accompanying notes and the result is a lively ensemble. Feminine, soft and lovely. Highly unique. I've been putting off reviewing this gem along several other fragrances from Mona's fabulous line because they are hard to describe; they must be experienced. This fragrance hardly gets any press but it's one of Mona's best in my opinion. Rose Etoile de Hollande starts off strong and deceitful, like most of Mona's fragrances do. I get an initial blast of strong rosewater; it's almost astringent like in the opening. After a while the astringent smell disappears and clove, aldehydes and heliotrope mellow out the composition enhancing its uncommon beauty. The result is a vibrant peach rose fragrance. Lipstick glamour at its finest. If this fragrance were a color it would be a mixture of pink and red. It's mood is happy. Delicate yet deep at the same time. Ms. Mona you are missed!

The noble peach aldehyde rose has the feeling of an vintage perfume, but the aldehyde is light, and it combines with the new fragrance to bring some champagne effervescence with a bit sweetness. The rose seems to have some ionone added to it, which went well with the powdery heliotrope and vanilla, and there's also a gentle suede base here. Very gorgeous,and eleganct. In the rosy background, I don't think there is a realistic peach, the scent is not tart and sweet, just vaguely like that peach liqueur kind of thing in the opening. The very rosy vibe becomes more fluffy and the peach could not be pick up for me in the mid to base notes. It's a shame this brand are closed.

This is THE softest scent I own. Not one single sharp note in this one, it's so incredibly soft and billowy! A peachy, candy-like (fruit toffee?) rose with some heliotrope. That's what I get on my skin. Beautiful! I think that this one is perfect for teenagers, it would be the perfect gift to someone who's graduating or something like that, when you want to spend a little extra on a gift for that loved one, you know. The teenage aspect doesn't make it immature in any way, it is very sweet and lovely which makes it wearable for anyone who wants sweet and lovely. No age restriction at all, everyone will smell divine wearing this!
