Monique Lhuillier Eau de Parfum

Just goes to show you really have to try a scent. I walked by this one many times with my nose turned up at what I assumed would be a generic floral. Based on the “reminds me” fragrances, it should be. But this is an “eyes-roll-back-into-my-head” kind of scent for me. None of the “reminds me scents” interest me in the slightest. This one has an ever so slightly vintage quality that I’m ascribing to the hyacinth. I don’t think this is a crowd pleaser, but I did receive a compliment, something that doesn’t happen super often. I wear this one really for me and it’s one of the very few fragrances I’ve discovered in the past decade that I think I will be wearing for as long as I can own it.

This perfume is absolutely beautiful. It is not on general sale in the UK so I purchased a 10ml sample direct from Monique Lhuiller in the States and boy was it worth it. It is gorgeous, and totally unique. The opening is enormous but the dry down is subtle, floral and delicate but still projects which I find very rare in delicate modern perfumes. I shall be purchasing a regular size bottle once I have used up my 10mls

I 100% understand how this is considered, objectively, 'boring' — but I freaking love it so much. It's exactly what I need it to be; a fresh, light, soft, not-too-sweet floral with the perfect amount of bergamot, musk, and wood. I'll be using this for some layering, or everyday springtime wear. It's quintessentially inoffensive, feminine, and just feels nice... like sitting in a gorgeous garden on a spring morning.

Sprayed out at the store, this smells like a nice springtime scent (floral, a little aquatic) but sniffing it from the bottle from fragrancenet, it smells kind of ambery spicy or incensey. Maybe the juice macerated? Not that it's a bad smell.. It just smells different than in the store. Also long lasting and great sillage. If you only wear fruitchoulis, you probably wont like this. I am speaking from experience- someone I know who thinks floral perfumes smell mature (including this one) only wears fruitchoulis. I am younger than her lol. I think this is pretty timeless and all ages could wear this (20 yrs +). Edit: I see people are comparing this to Jessica McClintock. It has a similar vibe, it does not necessarily smell like Monique Lhullier. I batch coded my Jessica McClintock and mine is from 2017, so idk if an older formulation smells more like this or not.

Monique is like a little music box that plays Fur Elise, and it decorated with golden freesia and ylang-ylang petals. You're not quite sure why you have it, but you don't mind keeping it. Or like a room in an old house with pink curtains and worn floral bedsheets right next to a vanity with powders, and an open window letting in mild spring air. Not old at all! Just...tender. Powdery, soft spice floral that was almost made specifically for spring. Refreshing release in a sea of very strong gourmands/strictly fresh fruity florals. Mix of spring outdoors and vintage makeup scent, but much better. I LOVE powdery, spicy greens so...this is great. Longevity is ok . Gets a thumbs up from me :)

I like this for what it is, but it isn't for me. That's because I'm not into big floral bouquets for perfume - but when I tried my sample I appreciated the artistry. The petals are dewy (freesia being the most prominent flower, followed by hyacinth) and soft, and they impart a wedding aura. This is definitely "bridal perfume." After several hours of wear it eventually dries down to a semi-powdery effect that I ultimately dislike on my skin, so I won't be keeping my sample; but I can appreciate this for what it is.

This does not last super long, but it is perfect for a professional work day. Not too strong of offensive, I go to court a lot for my job and this scent is the perfect type of fragrance to wear when sitting in close quarters with many people. It's a soft floral scent that lasts a few hours on my skin. A good 'go to' for the work day.

This is a very pretty floral. I almost bought it, but as it dried down, more of the citrus started to come out and took over some of the florals I loved. In the end, I chose to pass because that wasn’t what I was looking for. If the florals stayed predominant the whole time, it probably would have joined my collection.

I got this in a sample set; I didn’t have high hopes for it. I actually ended up liking this much more than expected. White floral - a little green, a little spicy, a little soapy, with the musk undertone. It reminds me of a bright spring day. I would purchase a full bottle.

I vehemently abhor Bright Crystal by Versace, it's one of the few frags I well and truly hate, so I was really surprised to enjoy this one so much - especially because they don't smell similar to me at all. This is white and green. The pink petal bottle design is...misleading. So is the "Reminds Me Of" section. DEW. So dewy. Almost too dewy for my taste - and quite the simple composition. But I do really enjoy this. Clear dewdrops resting on white petals of freesia, more fresh than creamy. I very strangely pick up little to no bergamot..? Very musky, very hyacinth gentle spicy. Spring-forward. Simple, but not dull.

This one is for the true floral lovers! I’m not talking about the ones who need a heaping of sugar to go with their florals but the ones who love the slightly sour effect of sniffing a flower. Those who don’t mind the scent of soil. I am not that girl unfortunately. It has a touch of funk and some citrus notes that just don’t mix with my chemistry. I’m surprised to see some people labeling this as a generic floral, it’s definitely not that to my nose. Although it’s not for me, I appreciate the mix of notes.

A standard springtime perfume. It's pretty, but I probably won't buy it. Soft, buttery florals with just a touch of bergamot. Super light and rather nondescript. Kind of reminds me of hairspray. Springtime "pink" fragrances that I prefer are Clinique Happy Heart, Versace Bright Crystal, and Marina de Bourbon's "My Dynastie Princess".

WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU MONIQUE??? You smelled GREAT until the dry-down! 😫 After about 30 minutes, you turned into licorice on my skin-you know, like the one in Guerlain's Insolence? WHYYYYYY???

Smells to me more of a scent for women 40 yrs old +. It's a bit too stiff, mature and solemn, which is very confusing. The baby pink color, the flowery cap design, the notes pyramid together with the reviews made me expect this to be a bright, carefree floral scent, while in reality Monique Lhuillier is more of a sibling of all the perfumes in the "People who like this also like" section above: Mugler Alien, Guerlain Mon Guerlain, YSL Libre, Lancome La Vie Est Belle and the like. Not a spring scent.

the opening and first spray of this smells so good, but unfortunately it smells weird after it dries down. I wore this out and i got a whiff of cat pee... literal cat pee. I didn’t know what it was until i figured out it was me. A perfume isn’t supposed to make you smell bad, it’s supposed to make you smell good.

I get menthol- dentist office from this. My partner says it smells like the mall. Very strange scent, at some points it’s okay and then other whiffs are just so off-putting. Not for me but maybe it’s my skin chemistry. It’s not generic, I’ll give it that!

First thing I thought of was Elie Saab Le Parfum. There is no Jasmine listed in this fragrance but it smells very much like the Elie Saab... Nice!

A nice, safe scent for visiting Pottery Barn.

This is a pretty scent. I mostly get floral notes and powder. I am not sure but it reminds me of something else. Almost like a version of Delina without Oud mixed with Ange ou Demon. In any case I think this is very pretty and pink. It has good projection. Probably not the sexiest. My husband just came and said "What did you spray? it smells like baby powder or clean diapers" Oh well. I think I don't need a full bottle.

First of all, the bottle is just stunning. Absolute perfection. The scent is nice. Its floral and delicate.
