Verde d'Arancia

Great refresher for these hot days of summer. It is a dead ringer for Eau d' Orange Verte. I am testing both right now, left arm vs. right arm. Practically indistinguishable. Mind you, the pyramid above is off. Verde d'Arancia (that means exactly Green of Orange, or Orange Verte in French ) smells like the gren parts of an orange tree: mainly leaves (petit grain) and green peel. You also get orange blossom, jasmine and bergamot. There is a green note that should be spearmint. The base is cozy: there is a comforting musc leaning in with a hint of vanilla (but just a shadow). What you don't get is the ripe fruit or the juice nor that candied peel often found in other compositions. This very cheap Monotheme is ideal for any hot summer day. Fresh and refreshing, lifts your mood. Just like its Hermes sibling, doesn't last more than a couple of hours. I tend to overspray but you'll need to reapply every now and then. But at that price (around 12 euros for 100ml) , who cares. Edit April 22: after trying all the other citrus based offerings in the Monotheme line, I elect Verde dArancia as the very best of the family. If you have to pick one among these siblings, choose this one: I can never tire of it and really is a most refreshing, green orange cologne for the summer. You'll love it.

I have bought all the colognes in the book of citrusses line. They don't last long but what can you expect of a line of perfumes that only revolves around light citrussy topnotes. With all of them you get much better performance if you wear them underneath clothing. For 4 to 8 hours of longevity go for 20 sprays underneath your clothes it's a cologne style fragrance with only citrusses after all. Verde D'Arancia smells to me like a little less fleeting sibling to Orange Verte cologne or edt. But to my nose Verde D'Arancia brings a more sunny orange happiness to the table compared to Orange Verte. It's like living in a happy sunny Slim Aarons picture. Under 15 euro's this could be a 10 out of 10 for those who are drawn to light citrus colognes and can appreciate lightness and naturalness over performance. Whatever version you buy from the book of citrusses. All are highly recommended imho! Sadly Bergamotto has changed quite a bit. And turned into something generic and sweet. Check Monothemes websites because here on Fragantica they switched the genders a bit. All book of citrus fragrances are unisex on the Monotheme website Zagara is the only one who is marketed feminine.

I don't know how I have not reviewed this yet; I have owned a bottle of this for a while now and the more it macerated, the more delicious it got. Just as most descriptions below me put it together, this fragrance is exactly like ripping through an orange peel to get to the edible part; the little harsh spray that comes out of it when your fingers begin digging into the fruit is exactly what this recreates. The biggest con of this fragrance is that the scent is closer to the skin and has good sillage in its lasting time frame, which is 15 minutes. And do I love it? Absolutely yes, please. The best layer or even sometimes linear note, I like to wear over the summer. My current summer was filled with this and sunny, beautiful, and fresh days. Thanks to this gem and the other fragrance duo I had it with (Zeitgeist by J.F. Schwarzlose Berlin), they made a citrusy, marine, green, and ambergris duo in a smooth manner, and the scent was to die for. Will always be in my summer rotation.

Spray, then wait for a few seconds for the alcohol to evaporate. You'll get a very natural reconstruction of orange and mandarin, and the refreshing pungent juice of torn peels. An excellent balance between sweet and sour renders it uplifting and fresh for estival daytime. But unfortunately it'll soon fade to a scent resembling juice stain rather than fresh juice. Longevity is poor -- after an hour or two, there is only musk with vague sweet orange tones. Plus, on skin it can be powdery. Projection is at best non-offensive, and very nose friendly. This is definitely unisex. The best price with discount is $20/100ml, as it's de facto EdC so one has to overspray. I'd personally rate it as the best of Book of Citruses.

This is magic! Really excellent, and my favourite so far from this line, I'm a big Monotheme fan just a crime that I don't own more of them really? A supreme mixture of zesty orange opening which is so fresh and lovely all the while maturing to something quite earthy in the base...woody for sure vetiver and even a hint of patchouli. If you're thinking orange? Vetiver? Could this be like TdH? You couldn't be more wrong this is very different much juicier but not lacking in a full body. Again not the longest lasting but I can forgive it as it lasts a bit longer than the bergamot one and smells as good if not better than many other orange fragrances.

This perfume smells EXACTLY like tearing into a slightly unripe orange's skin, when the natural oils oozes out into the air making a visible mist, intoxicating the entire room with a tantalizing fresh scent. It's photorealistic and extremely one dimensional. There's no other depth to it, and it doesn't need it. Probably my biggest heartbreak that I've experienced is that this perfumes longevity is 0. Yet I'm still on bottle 2. I spray probably half the bottle for one use because It's so addicting, at this point I should just stick to eating oranges perhaps...

I woke up one day craving the smell of sweet and juicy oranges and Verde D’Arancia came to my rescue. The scent is fresh but also sophisticated, considering it’s just one note: it has that perfume-y, cologne-y quality that doesn’t make you smell like you just spilled orange juice all over yourself, but rather, that you’ve deliberately chosen to smell like a Mediterranean/Levantine orchard ripening in the sun. If you want “natural and uplifting” go for it. Citrus doesn’t linger but for that, this is great value for a full bottle that will get a lot of use.

Very reminiscent of Hermes Orange Verte, though leans more unisex and is available at a fraction of the Hermes price. If you're looking for dry citrus and wish to avoid syrupy sweetness, Verde d'Arancia is a great low risk option. Conjures a particular soap scent memory from childhood that I associate with bathtime. Exudes cleanliness and it is office safe because the fragrance stays close. Can be layered for interesting combinations. I have enjoyed combining with Arabian Oud's Majestic Special Oud (rose+oud) and Ferragamo's Oceani di Seta (salt+florals).

So yummy and juicy! Atrocious lasting power, but so affordable I don't mind bathing in it. Starts with an amazing realistic orange, with a touch of bitterness, like the peel has just been removed and the oil is still in the air. It's supported by a crisp green backbone that keeps it nice and refreshing. Best for extremely humid days imo, but I also love to wear this out of the shower because it disappears so fast it never completes with the fragrances I want to wear for the day. It's like sipping a nice cool drink on a hot day. Love!

God, I love this. Unfortunately, it has essentially no longevity on my skin or sillage, so I have to perfume-bomb myself in it to get a somewhat lasting cloud—but even despite this, I can't help but just love this scent. It's a true-to-life pure orange scent—fruity, zesty, clean but somehow luxurious. It begins as the zest of an orange before settling into the fruit itself. Smells like watching the sunset settle over the Italian coast, an Aperol spritz in hand.

Fantastic value! From Monotheme purchased in M & S. Smells very similar to Acqua di Parma Arancia Blue Mediterranean which retails at £147 100ml bottle. At £19 quid from M & S you cannot complain! It's zesty, clean, fresh & smells very Italian, luxurious and expensive, perfect for the summer months. Highly recommended. Don't just try it! Buy it! 🙏

I just got this and I'm really enjoying it. It really smells like an orange, I'm not sure if it's the freshest one tho. I find it a little bitter at first but it gets sweeter and sweeter. Very clean and elegant, simple but not boring. Performance is very weak but I don't mind it because is really nice. I really wanna try it in the summer!!!

Linear but very charming juicy orange, some dimension is added by the slightly bitter and dry orange peel. It smells like you're eating a very ripe, very sweet and juicy orange in a warm car, and you've put the peel on the dashboard. Projection and sillage are low to moderate, and longevity is unsurprisingly low for the price at 3 hours.

Somehow this smells strongly of fruit loops to me. IN A GOOD WAY. I'm a citrus lover so this smell is amazing to me, orange but not acidic orange juice smell, like actual orange peel. It was a blind buy for me, but one that happily worked out. It's cheap enough that even if it wasn't great I could still give it away without losing sleep.

This scent sits sweet on me. It's fresh and has longevity on my clothing. I layer it on top of my caramel body oil to give it another dimension and boost longevity of the scent. I enjoy it as a stand alone and as a bedtime fragrance. A very wearable daily fragrance. I love this product line. It's affordable and perfect for layering.

Green citrical, it makes me feel CLEAN and FRESH. I received many complimments from both women and men.It's not a common perfume here in Argentina which is great 'cause I don't like smelling like the rest of the people in the street. It's one of my favorites. I'm using two bottles at the same time.

So delightfully natural. It really smells like squeezing an orange peel. Unfortunately it doesn't project for much longer than if you did that, it's an intimate scent. I really enjoy layering this with gourmands and aromatic scents

Uplifting, fun and bright citrusy scent that lasted about 4-5 hours at least on clothes! I was very surprised by the longevity. It’s not a complex fragrance but the simplicity is just what I need.

It’s exquisite - the smell of green orange peel. I only wish it lasted forever, which it obviously can’t, being a citrus fragrance. The cute bottle adds joy.

Light hearted Eau D'Orange Verte...on a budget. Hermes, eat your heart out.

It`s a fresh, citrical, mature perfume. It`s appropriate for anyone to use this orangey fragrance as long as they have some level of seriousness since it is (without a bout) not a childish perfume. This perfume is ideal for almost any situation: from a casual lunch with friends to a formal work meeting. It`s very versatile. It`s price is incredible and so is the quality. Usually in this part of the review I confirm which notes I can smell, but since this one`s an orange monotheme (Mono means one/single. So the name is basically “single theme”) I can, obviously, only catch the orange. The longevity is average, but it`s pretty strong so it will leave a mark. To ScentMan64: you've been terribly unfair. You try one fragrance and then prompt people to avoid ALL Monoteme fragrances. And lavender_wind was criticizing this very affordable Monotheme fragrance while comparing it with the pricey Aqua di Parma, Boucheron and Lancome :D Each person has a different ph, so certain people can be compatible with certain fragrances while others are not. I tried this fragrance as well as Bergamotto (on the inside of each hand) and while bright, fresh and citrusy, both simply vanished from my skin within an hour. And that's the only reproach that I have regarding these scents. However I own Rose Oud (EDP) from Monotheme which is wonderful and longlasting , as well as Tuberose EDT, which I tried together with other scents from the same house and picked it after waiting for about an hour to see its longevity. On my skin, Tuberose performed best from the Monotheme Classic collection. Black Oud EDP is also a great fragrance, but like Rose Oud, they can be appreciated only by those who are familiar with and enjoy Oud fragrances.

Verde d’Arancia smells so authentic, I’ve never smelled a citrus fragrance this realistic! On the box it highlights that they’ve used natural extracts and it’s noticeable. It’s smells exactly like the leaves of an orange tree, maybe some of the blossom and even the rind but mostly leaves. I don’t get wood as others mentioned but it does smell green. Memory unlocked: Standing under the orange trees in Sicily and sniffing the little orange shaped soaps found in the tourist shops. Very unisex IMO. Not masculine to me but if you find it masculine( if green/bitter = masculine )and you want a similar scent that’s a bit more feminine( if sweet/floral = feminine )then try Zagara. It’s sweeter and focuses on bitter orange blossom. Edit: My mom smelled this on me and quite literally forced to buy one for her too. My friend who smelled this the other day started writing down the name immedietly

Tried this one out in a store, liked it and bicause it was cheap i got it. The smell is nice, simply just freshly pealed orange. (kinde of the goal of monotheme is to focus on only one note) Ireally like citrus frags so i really like this one as well, the smell is realistic and for the price it has good quality. The longevity is poor, 3-4 hour max, projection is good for 1-2 hours then it becomes a skin scent, but for a cheap freshie it's expected. Good for layering bicause this is simply just orange. Later tried out mm-never ending summer and i thought the really smelled simlar, probably bicause they are both summery orange-citrus orientated scents, not that they are a clone of each other or anything, but i have to say this one does what never ending summer does, a pleasant summer citrus scent, could be a nice replacement. 7/10

A sweet orange scent. It's a bit like Hermes Eau D'Orange Verte but whereas the Hermes veers towards the fresh, the Monotheme veers towards the sweet. I'd say it's unisex but tilting more feminine than masculine if such things bother you. On a practical level, I find the sillage is in the moderate category and I was surprised because I got seven to eight hours out of it in normal temperatures and weather. You won't be surprised from the notes to find that it is fairly linear - there's no Guerlain-esque olfactory journey. It's rather nice and makes for a cheaper and viable alternative to the Hermes but I prefer the Hermes. However, Monotheme also do a nice fresh Bergamot so there is an in-house fresher alternative to this. Worth a try.

Fresh, zesty, orange. Simple and refreshing. I have had compliments on this fragrance. Unlike some of the reviewers, I have no problems with longevity or projection. I do, however, lightly spray the perfume on to my hair and clothes. The product is very cheap so I have no hesitation in using the product in this way. I paid $20 for the 100ml bottle in Australia. The bottle is very pretty.

Simple but quite lovely. Refreshing, bright, uplifting and zingy. Reminds me of ice tea with lime. Not as good as the Monotheme Limone (smells incredible - like an actual lemon tree) but better than Monotheme agrumi (which has a subtle mouldy smell). I’m not sad I own this (it was only $15!) but if I had to choose only one - hands down I would recommend Limone.

It opens with a fresh and refreshing scent of orange and unripe green orange peel. However, the scent doesn't last long, maybe 10~15 minutes and dries down to a synthetic rubbery base, similar to Boule de Gomme from Pour Toujours - in a good way - a childhood bubblegum scent with a bit of citrus. The price is unbeatable, I paid $15 for a 100ml bottle.

The orange note is brief but refreshing, then proceeds to dry down similarily to Greenley but sweeter with conservative projection. I think the bottle is beautiful in itself, and for around 15€/100ml this is something I’d definitely buy again for summer time office use.

Beautiful unisex citrus. Perfect for summer days. As others have said, it's good value for the price and lasts longer on clothes than skin. Smells very natural, no harsh sweet aromachem type notes here.... Which is good. :).

I would absolutely love this perfume, but it has no longevity for me, I'm still searching for a stronger variant, but haven't found one. It's simple, citrusy with a hint of peppery note to it, a great summer perfume

I've been blending this Monotheme with Paco Rabanne's first fragrance, the gauzy chypre Calandre (1969). Verde d'Arancia can add "natural" pop to sludgy middle-eastern fragrances as well.

Verde d'Arancia is a nice simply citrus fragrance. Lovely to use post shower on a summer evening. I also like to layer this with Montheme Mediterranean Coast as it brightens it up.

This is the most authentic scented citrus fragrance that I have in my collection.

Awful, awful, awful. A blind buy after I was given an M&S Gift Voucher and felt obliged to buy something. One squirt and I realised I'd made a terrible mistake. Put it back in its box. Left it for a month. Tried it gingerly again. Absolutely dreadful. I thought it would be vaguely similar to maybe O de Lancome or possibly Hermes' Eau d'Orange Verte. How wrong I was. Smells completely artificial, chemically, cheap & nasty. Makes your eyes water then chokes you to death. Even the bottle looks cheap. If you want an inexpensive cologne consider something along the lines of 4711 or the original Jean Marina Farina Roger Gallet Eau de Cologne...avoid all "Monotheme" fragrances. Period.

I don't know how this perfume received such high ratings. Bought it during quarantine.. maybe it was the supplier from eBay? Although, the package was impeccable. It smells VERY green and chemical like. After about 10 sprays you detect a hint of sweet orange. If you are like me, looking for a sweet, bubbly, uplifting feminine citrus scent, this will sure be a disappointment. I could however see it on a young guy. I'm thinking of trying out the following: Acqua di parma arancia di capri Maison Lancome Oranges Bicarades Boucherron Orange de bahia. Will review these once I try them. Again, beware.

A lovely scent, like walking through a Sicilian orange grove sipping a mojito in the summer. However, the scent only lasts for MINUTES. Due to this I spray it on clothes rather than skin, it still disappears like a fart in the wind but lasts slightly longer. The bottle is cute but the top is very cheap plastic! Wouldn’t buy again

On my skin this smells incredibly masculine and I've no idea why! the others smell unisex but no this one! I'm really sad about the drydown here.... lovely orange flesh and bitter peel but then wood. An odd kind of wood too :(

A really gorgeous inexpensive scent that I used for work days and intend to repurchase. Longevity is poor, at least on me, but the scent is so beautiful and fabulously put-a-smile-on-your-face citrus that it is easy to forgive the short-lasting nature of its presence. This is also a good fragrance to have for layering, and to maybe extend more expensive scents. I think it would work well with a leather note, a cool spice or mint - or even a woody note.

I like this heaps! Citrus with a hint of spice. It's like the smell of your fingers after peeling a sweet orange and getting some juice on your hands, grating the rind and then crushing a clove afterwards. It's more green than sweet. Great for warm, humid days. It reminds me of Bien-etre Naturelle cologne. It lasts 2 hours when sprayed on pulse points. I get a good 6 hours when I spray on the back of my hand - though it's a skin scent by that time.

Bright fresh clean orange. A little bitter and zesty to start. Lovely anytime. I have been layering with Kim Kardashian's Pure Honey to give it a bit of warmth and depth. But, its fabulously refreshing on its own. Chemist Warehouse had a lot of the Monothemes on special last week and this (with the Meditteranean Coast (fig)) is the best of about 7 I bought.

Very happy that I managed to grab this dupe of Hermes's Eau d'orange verte, it's exactly the way my mind pictured it to be before I got to smelling it. It's zesty with this delicious green unripe orange rind scent, really good. I use this to spray on my bedsheets and it's perfect. At €15 for 100ml this is a great choice.

Peeling an orange is one of my favorite smells since I was a child, but this perfume is not that. The scent is very acidic, like the most sour orange you ever tasted. Added to that, it also smells like orange zest, but not in a nice way, but in a cheap and bitter way.

Opening notes are zingy, zesty, and really citrus. Dry-down is comforting with a slight warmth. Though different in opening notes, the dry down is a bit similar to that of 4711's Melissa and Verbena.

The opening is excellent — strong orange and lemon, full of freshness. But the dry-down is really unpleasant, possibly due to a strong synthetic feel.

Very sour, has very little longevity. This was not pleasant on my skin sadly.
