Amber Musk

This is my favourite fragrance today. It smells like my skin but better. People say that it is very clean smell, very neutral, and I disagree. The mix of creamy sweet musk and spicy amber gives very sensual sexy smell like second skin, like the smell of warm skin while making love. When I smell it I imagine the woman that puts on her man's white shirt after having sex. I would call it, this smells like the skin of the lover. It is very similar to Juliette Has a Gun Not a Perfume Superdose but Montale Amber Musk has more creamy sweet smell on my skin. Not a Perfume smells more woody. But you should be ready that Amber Musk doesn't smell intensively, this is very intimate smell but stays on the skin quite long time. But what is more important for me I smell it all day and it helps me to feel more feminine, sensual and sexy.

This is a light airy ambroxan fragrance similar to Molecule 02. Sometimes you smell it sometimes you don't. I was hoping for something along the lines of Honey Aoud or Aoud Musk... oh well. This will be a great layering fragrance IMO, especially since my Molecule 02 is empty. I got a great deal on a 100 ml bottle of this so I am happy with it... DO NOT PAY FULL RETAIL. I don't think that it is Full Retail worthy due to lack of sillage or longevity. Try before you buy.... otherwise, Enjoy!

I’m a big fan of Juliette Has a Gun, Not a Perfume, and this one reminds me of it, but with a powdery vanilla twist that I absolutely loved. For me, perfumes that melt into your skin and enhance your natural scent are a must in any collection, perfect to wear on their own or as a layering base. This one feels intimate, comforting, and subtly sexy but the Longevity it’s poor.

I really hate Montale fragrances - they’re insanely strong beast-mode scents, annoying and too much. But this one is a miracle! It’s a beautiful skin-scent, yet its projection and sillage are very good. You can smell it on yourself all day. Skin scents usually don’t work well on me (for example, I don’t understand the hype around Another 13) but this fragrance is excellent.

This is by far my favourite musk scent in my collection. It’s an easy to wear slightly powdery white musk and amber scent blended to perfection. You can smell this on clothes for days and you’ll get around 8-10 hours on skin. If you can find this in discounters for 60 or less it’s a no brainer, this is one of very few bottles I need a back up bottle for.

This reminds me the mist of my favorite Juliette has a gun Not A Perfume regular and superdose. I love the ambroxan so much as it’s one of the more unique notes in the world of fragrance to me. It’s so spicy and sharp where at the same time it’s smooth and well rounded. It’s perfect to layer with so nether citrusy or tropical.

This fragrance is some sexy sexy stuff. I wish there is a house that makes this exact another 13 DNA but on steroids. They all seem to be so light and barely be able to smell it an hour after spraying. But my god is this scent so indescribable. There’s no words other then get it. Your gonna love it.

It's less pungent and warmer than JHAG Superdose. But it's more vibrant than Not a parfume. Very cozy and warm, it doesn't shout about itself, but you feel at your best in it, winter or summer.

Smells just like JHAG Superdose but a little more.... fecal. Can easily go in a disgusting direction depending on your skin. It's a dry skin-like powdery amber-y synthetic musk.

This is a subtle skin scent with great longevity and just a touch of sweetness to go with a warm earthiness. I love it by itself or layered with practically anything I own.

It's like JHAG with Montale Dna. That's about it, it's inoffensive but everyone knows you smell good. Very simple yet very inviting. I like it more than JHAG

My go to comfort scent.Simple clean and sweet. Smells like Not a Perfume, but with more depth. And it lingers all day. 8.5/10

It's really good. It's basically a more potent mix of molecule 01 and 02 with added musk.

Upon purchasing and first wear (direct from Montale) I was disappointed. It smells very nice but similar to so many others on the market with similar DNA (Kirke I’m looking at you) and after 20min I couldn’t smell it at all. I had received a 30ml spray with purchase of Blue Amber that I actually preferred much more. I set Amber Musc aside for trading or resale and forgot about her. Fast forward a year and the nighttime temps are starting to cool. She sits with other Amber frags in my collection and I needed something light for a close quarters appt today. What could go wrong with a barely there Amber Musc? Boy was I wrong. I had an anesthesiologist get all up close to ask what I was wearing and as I sit her 10 hours later I can still very much smell her. She does open with a bit of alcohol but it evaporates quickly leaving behind a very unobtrusive powdery amber. I’m convinced that letting this one macerate for a couple months is a benefit. If you are looking for a light Amber frag with enough Middle East vibe to make an impact but not to overpower a room this might be your scent.

I second MatchaCat saying that this smells like cat forehead. It's a soft musk. Comforting and not screechy. Musky and slightly powdery and a hint of sweetness. Smells like tucking freshly laundered blankets under your angel baby's chin and giving them a kiss on their perfect little cat forehead. It's that clean, slightly powdery cat forehead smell with a hint of something else (maybe your shampoo or laundry detergent in the background) that you can't quite put your finger on. All you know is the experience and smell is so good. Kind of reminds me of Commodity Paper (-) but the strength and longevity is way better. That being said, this is not a super powerhouse type fragrance. It's soft and not loud but it's strong enough that you can enjoy it when you get whiffs throughout the day

Bury your face in cat's fur and breathe in. This is what this smells like. It's a very lightweight and airy synthetic musk with just a hint of amber sweetness. It's basically a second skin smell, very subtle. If you want your skin to smell like more skin, this is the one. Composition is simple, two notes really, amber and musk, but it works. I don't see how this could be so repulsive to some because it's so lightweight, you barely notice it's there. It's easy to wear and office safe, in my opinion. I get zero powder from this. It does smell like makeup foundation but it's not powdery. I just wish the notes were more amped up because you can barely smell this perfume. Unisex. Smell: 7 out of 10 Longevity: 7 out of 10 For reference, I'm female.

Nice skin scent, very similar to JHAG. It’s very very light. There are days I can’t smell it much, and some days I smell it more. It’s beautiful musky, ambery scent with a a touch of cedar - one of my favourite notes. It’s smooth and powdery at the same time, there are no sharp notes that I dislike. I used to hate skin scents but now I like light perfumes to wear for bed, to gym or doctor’s office. It’s not offensive.. it’s barely there... most people won’t even notice it. I have to say it’s a bit stronger than JHAG but I like Amber Musk more. Because it has this interesting note of ambergris. Also, it’s nothing like Another 13. Another 13 is soo strong compared to this, and completely different scent profile.

I just finished a sample of this fragrance. It took me quite awhile since I have a large collection. Despite having it for a year, I didn't get rid of it. It grew on me. I thought it was just ok at first. But I enjoyed it the more I wore it. It's a lovely musk but with Montale's DNA added. That DNA takes what could be a boring perfume and elevates it to an unique musk. I won't be running out to immediately buy a full bottle but if I find it for a good price, I would probably purchase it. Projection: 7/10 Longevity: 7/10 Overall Experience: 7/10

Amber musk is a nice offering from Montale if you want a Montale that's not super strong at all..Amber musk is it's name entirely.. Amber..& musk..it's light & non offensive.. acceptable from fall to spring & maybe even on a cool summer's night..& even though it's light it lasts quite a while. I got this with 4 other Montales I was curious to try..I found this nice but it wasn't full bottle love for me..try it out deff. if you like amber & musks I don't think it'll disappoint..very nice scent, but again a bit of a pass for me though.

I dont know what to think of this one to be honest . Sometimes I can smell it and love the smell . I know that it is long lasting because I get whiffs even 10h after spraying it but the sillage is weird : sometimes I get compliments and people tell me that it is strong but sometimes nobody can smell anything. I think that it is an ambroxan/iso e super/musk bomb with a slight Montale oriental dna added to it . Great for layerings

A beautiful soft musk, reminiscent of the skin scent. To me it's very linear, with not a powerful projection, but rather with a soft, natural feel. I really enjoy the ambery aspect of it, which adds an extra layer of coziness and makes it unique and comforting. Unfortunately, it's not enough for me to justify its purchase. I already own a couple skin scents, and thus, can refrain from buying another bottle.

Really sits close to my skin, which is counterintuitive for Montale - I have others like Pure Love & Day dreams that project to the next zip code. Anyway, the scent is pleasant, clean, and nonoffensive. I think it could be worn 3 seasons even during the summer if you're mindful of the sprays. Smells similar to Le Labo's Another 13 to my nose and having both would be redundant for me.

I have both this one and another 13. It really has some similarity within two especialy during the dry down of amber musk. I really like the opening of amber musk. It's more sweet and feminine. Unfortunately it is not long. The sillage is not that good compare with other montale. Overall it's ok. Kinda niche but not hard to understand.

This smells very nice and probably the strongest mysk scent I've ever owned. It is a clean musky scent and reminds me a bit of commodity milk personal with a bit of JHAG not a perfume superdose. Those 2 layered gives you amber musk almost spot on to my nose. Really nice unisex.

So far first impression is this more of a concentrated version of Not A Perfume, close and delicate to Another 13. The Smell of silent luxury, delicate, perfect! In terms of price/quality this is the most affordable option of this DNA of musk amber.

Very similar to JHAG not a perfume but a little sweeter and more powdery. It also has a strong initial alcohol blast but that goes away quickly.

A very musky but clean scent. It smells good, but it is also nothing special as it is lacking something. Very basic, but super long-lasting.

It's cetalox, which lacks depth but is hypoallergenic.Great for layering, but it is "the smell of compliance."

A cozy comfy skin scent. I find it to lean more masculine and would love to smell this on a man.

This is a very beautiful warm amber fragrance.

I was looking forward to trying this because I love musk but this is extremely simple and basic. The opening is a faint amber followed quickly by a very chemical smelling musk and ambergris. Feels more like a layering tool than a standalone fragrance. Slightly animalic and lasts a long time since I believe it's 100% chemical. I'm not anti aroma chems, but this feels unfinished. I could see myself using it as a fragrance booster but I wouldn't pay more than 40 bucks tops. Scent 5.3/10 Performance 7.5/10

Very niche, even for a niche. Light, airy, musky, powdery, and transparent. It suits for layering but it definitely has very little, if any, of the usual Montale profile. The musk here is quite pleasant, not old-fashioned.

This fragrance is pleasant, but so light that it's almost bland. Totally unisex. It definitely doesn't have the Montale DNA. However, it has good longevity. If you like mild fragrances, this one is for you.

Very powdery, musk and amber strong scent. Unisex for me, not masculine. Longevity is crazy, 48 hours later with a shower I smell it on my skin. The real shame is that its projection is subpar, very light.

A musky skin scent, but synthetic. I overapplied once and got a terrible headache. It is a slightly flatter, less sweet AnOther 13 which I also have a sample of, so I gave this to my coworker.

Am I the only one when I spray this I can't even smell it? I get faint hunts of something glide does and gabanna light blue pour femme. But other than that it has no smell

Got a decant of this looking for a staple skin scent, which I envisioned as simple ambergris a la JHAG Not a Perfume combined with a clean musk, with performance somewhere in between NAP and NAP Superdose. Based on the notes and reviews, this seemed like it fit the bill perfectly. But on my skin (or to my nose?) this turns sour and smells uncannily like Elmer's glue. The search for my perfect clean girl perfume continues....

And now I know why after sniffing it over and over I couldn’t smell a thing ! “ In the perfume reminds me of “ section , first thing I spy is Juliette has a gun not a perfume . My personal opinion is if I’m going to buy a pricey perfume , I better be able to smell it !! I can’t smell a thing with this one ! Pass.

I don’t mean to be dramatic, but this fragrance traumatized me lol. I’ve found I really enjoy ambergris & musk, so I was excited to get my nose on this. That was a huge mistake because this smells awful to me & I actually hate it. This stinks so bad it makes me sick to my stomach. It’s a scrubber that can’t be scrubbed off, an absolute nightmare! I accidentally spilled a whole sample on my nightstand & the floor between it & my bed. I couldn’t get rid of it & it drove me insane. I couldn’t scrub it off the back of my hand either. It has a really strong alcoholic smell, as well as a strong funky smell. Now when I smell some perfumes that have a similar alcoholic opening my brain goes back to this & it makes me want to throw up lol. Just a warning, not a safe blind buy. There are some people here who have great things to say about it & I have no idea how lol, but everybody’s different. I love the other two Montale fragrances I’ve tried, Chocolate Greedy & Sweet Vanilla!

This shares the same synthetic Musk note (iso e super I think-or something) as Juliette has a Gun Not a Perfume so if you like that, you’ll absolutely adore this, and if not, stay away. I didn’t realize how much i dislike it until I tested this and couldn’t scrub it off after even an entire day. it was an instant regret that I sprayed it on and it just keeps going, and going, throughout the day.

Well I think that it's official. I just can't do the synthetic musk in Montale, Mancera or Narciso Rodriguez. Too bad. 😖

Musk notes are tricky to smell in general, regardless if they are natural or synthetic. You need to have your receptors lazy and not attacked by scents. In Amber Musk you can expect just that. You may not smell anything if you try this at a store. Asking for a tester and spraying outside in fresh air would be better. Nevertheless it's too soft, even for a musk fragrance. Body Shop's "White Musk" (Men) is almost identical to Amber Musk, and it provides better longevity and projection for much less. I don't get much Amber(gris) from Amber Musk, maybe in traces they used Ambroxan but mostly you'll get synthetic musk notes. Also getting the same musk vibe that Bvlgari Pour Homme gives away. Overall not worth the price, average clean musky lightness.

Enjoyable. The version of Bodyshops white musk I actually wanted. Less sweet than white musk and a bit more transparent. Would I buy it? No probably not. If I wanted to use it as a layering tool I just spray my own Ambroxide solution. If I wanted to wear it as alone as an interesting "molecule fragrance" I'd spray some Le Labo's Another 13- which actually gives a bit more presence and complexity than the transparent white musk of this one. it is nice though. These synthetics can end up smelling harsh, or completely unnatural. Here it is as if Iris and white musk had a child. This is not Iris-y per se, but it has the buttery smoothness that iris can give

This is not a skin scent, it just makes your nose blind quickly ( what ambrox usually does as well as some other aroma chemicals) Clean, beautiful, if you do not spray too close to your nose you keep on getting whiffs of it throughout the day. People will smell you, but not yourself. Molecule 02, another 13 all contains ambrox as the main note as such, they are extremely similar (molecule 02 supposedly only contains ambrox) get the cheapest you can buy, it's all the same.

So I already left a review saying I thought this was rubbish. But I’ve changed my mind! I love this now, it’s a very unusual perfume as in I sometimes can only smell it very vaguely, but then I’ve had so many compliments from people saying how nice I smell, also when I’ve washed my clothes I can still smell it on them. I really love this now, it’s very much a skin scent, it’s beautiful, not in your face. But other people definitely can smell it when you wear it.

This smells very very close to JHAG- Not a Perfume but stronger and longer lasting. Same scent with better performance and slightly more dense. Barely and difference IMO. What this does not smell like is Another 13, & governors island. Wouldn’t be redundant to own them all. This isn’t harsh smelling to me or chemically. More on the woody side of the your skin but better spectrum.

This fragrance is so weak, the montale perfumes I love, but this one smells of nothing, I should of tried it before I bought it. I absolutely love Arabians Tonka some of the others. This is definitely not worth the money I can’t smell anything only a very slight amber smell, my partner said the same. Just rubbish.

I get asked all the time what is it I am wearing, seems to be very likeable sent, and I absolutely love it, the first one I got was not a perfume from JHAG, I loved it so much, but it had no lasting power at all, so I started my search for something similar but that actually lasts, amber musk it is at last

Well, after sampling Wood and Spices yesterday, and coming close to scrubbing off, Amber Musk is a sweet and pleasant surprise. The pair works well together, the notes are high quality and its easy to wear. Its nothing transcendent, but it's kind of unhate-able.
