Aoud Collection - Golden Aoud

If I ever thought of having a signature scent, this might be it! BUT! If you want to avoid its unisex qualities, don't spray - dab it! When I first tried it and sprayed it on my arm, it took quite a while to unfold; then I decanted it into a roll-on bottle un tried it next day and - what a blessing! Untypically dark Bulgarian rose (which usually is loud and piercing on me), geranium and just a hint of patchouli, and smooth, deep woody undertones (I could swear I detect moss, too, although it isn't listed). If you have tried Explosive by Etienne Aigner, you will definitely find huge likeness between them, I guess thanks to geranium note in both, although Golden Aoud is richer and much more expensive smelling. It's not an office scent - save it for special occasions when you want to make a statement with your appearance. Overappliers - please, stay away from it - 1 spritz is one too much; 1 dab is all you need to produce a great sillage that will last for about 10 hours.

Very nice, sharp, slightly medicinal rose oud. I'm not expert enough to detect the geranium note, but the rose, oud and saffron notes are very pleasing. It reminds me a little of Rasasi Faqat Lil Rijal. Not quite as strong performance wise as that scent, but still quite good performance nonetheless. After a few hours, fades to a skin scent which is soft and almost non existent. Overall I'm very happy with this fragrance. Recommended.

Masculine, versatile and great performance. The geranium, oud, rose and patchouli bounce off each other in a familiar, yet unique way. Top marks. Very little leather and I cannot detect chili pepper (though I've never smelt it in perfumery). 8/10

This smells exactly like Aoud Lime after 2 hours, only Golden Aoud has Geranium & teak wood & Pepper instead of Iris, Amber and sandelwood!

Golden Aoud is a great one from Montale the leather & agrawood & roses are a great combination on my skin ( it's like you are wearing oud bouquet for along time) . Smell : 7/10. Longevity : 6 hours. Projection : 4 hours. P.S. Oud Night 🌃 will be tested & compaire !

This is the most subtle aoud I've come across in the Montale collection, and one of its most wearable. The aoud is light without losing its richness and the rose is wispy and caressing. The other notes add a hint of spice. A truly gorgeous aoud.

For 2008 (when it was released), this was ahead of its time and therefore was probably a secret gem in the fragrance world. For today's day & age, It falls off as uninspired and yet another overplayed (but pleasant) oud&rose combo.

I was surprised when I first sprayed this. It kind of smelled of lime, and reminded me a bit of toilet cleaner to be honest. After about an hour it settled into the standard rose scent that I’ve come to expect from Montale, with a hint of synthetic oud. I’m a bit tired of trying to find minute differences in all the Montale fragrances I try, and so this isn’t for me. It’s textbook Montale. If you already own Montale fragrances, chances are you don’t need this. If you’re looking for the perfect rose/oud, I think there are better options on the market.

Old-fashioned rose oud, with medicinal aspect. I wouldn't call it gorgeous, it is quite common rose oud combination and doesn't bring anything new to the table. However, it is quite wearable. Not my cup of tea though. Save you Money and try a sample if you still need to.

It is from 2008 and as another reviewer mentioned, would have been something unusual on the Western market then. Now, it's a pretty standard Middle Eastern style oud/floral combo, nothing groundbreaking but it smells good and performs well. I bought it because I actually needed something that you could call an oud dumb reach. I have a lot of different ouds but all of them have specific qualities and I needed something that works in any situation. I've relied on a few from Lattafa for this in the past, like 24 Carat Pure Gold, which fits the bill but sadly doesn't perform well enough. This Golden Aoud fills essentially the same role in my wardrobe but performs much better. I actually didn't realize there was any rose in this, even after wearing it for a few days. But I do see now how there is a sort of rose note. It's not as forward as the rose in Black Aoud or Attar, but it's there. Mostly I just smell oud, with a supporting cast of notes like leather, geranium, and saffron in the background. It's a pretty standard combination and it smells good, oud but not too challenging, definitely something Western noses won't be used to smelling but won't necessarily be offended by either. I'd call this a good intro oud.

Not particularly original and actually at first it didn't impress me at all but second and third test kinda made me rethink this one. I think it is really easy to wear on a day to day basis type of perfume. True: the opening is sharp Montale-ish rose and synthetic Oud but over time it softens up and is quite reshreshing (the toilet freshener comments are justified)... I'd say the rose is has almost watery-soapy-powdery feel to it with amber geranium undertones. I mean... I'm not getting a full bottle of this but I wouldn't hate it on me either.

This is basically oudh bakhoor Nasaem, with a strong amber underneath! There's a very sweet fondant rose on top, and a sharp geranium, and smouldering oudh. For me it's far too strong, but if you love oudh you couldn't go far wrong with this. It feels like a very clean, comforting scent, and very unisex.
