Aoud Greedy

Man Oh MAAAN! I am SO GLAD that I pulled the trigger on this now discontinued gem of a fragrance! Id been on the hunt for an excellent, "Licorice forward" fragrance and I do believe that Ive found it! I almost grabbed Lolita Lempicka Pour Homme but have read/Heard that it has really bad performance nowadays, so when I noticed comparisons to Montale's Aoud Greedy I debated for a couple weeks not wanting to blind-buy a somewhat pricey fragrance but as usual I succumbed to my curiosity. Aoud Greedy is a sweet/Spicey/Licorice fragrance with a great Amber/Patchouli base. Spraying from my Brand-New bottle Aoud Greedy starts off with strong projection and then it settles to having this great sillage within an hour and a half or so. What I find super appealing is this slight "Gourmand" nuance which has this sort of "Baked goods" vibe that I actually also get whenever Im eating Twizzlers Black-Licorich treats and I freakin' LOVE that aspect of Licorich candy and am pleasantly surprised to have found it in Aoud Greedy!. Although they DO NOT smell alike, Hermes Bel Ami Vetiver which is also spicey, yet these 2 are NOT the same. I freakin' love the Licorice note in this and HIGHLY recommend that any Licorich lover grab a bottle asap bc again, DISCONTINUED! YT þþOh, I also consider Aoud Greedy to be quite unisex with a slight Masculine leaning. Really good performance rn, but I think this will probably improve even more with time "Maturation." I mean MAN! Aoud Greedy is really such a wonderful outta 10 frag imo.

#269 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Note to self: Fragrantica scores can be deceiving. I actually knew this about 215 fragrances ago. So many scents rated 4.00 and up that are a complete waste of money and more than a few below 4.00 that are gems like this one. This scent is complex, unique, somewhat similar in composition to only one of the other 278 fragrances I've tried: Insurrection II Sport by Reyane Tradition. I might back off the balsam in this just a tad, but everything else is as it should be to create a scent that is interesting. If you're not a fan of licorice, fear not. It's not a dominant note in the least. If reviewers hadn't mentioned it, I would never have guessed it's there. Not sweet at all, this earthy, aromatic, very fresh, very "outdoors", very invigorating fragrance puts me in mind of glacial meadows. I'm a vetiver lover, and if they added a moss note to this, I'd be over the moon for this stuff. Like every Montale scent I've ever tried, good sillage, good longevity. I will be keeping this in the rotation.

Bought this because a few compared it with the now discontinued B*Men. Nothing like it. But, this one holds its own. Interesting mix of patchouli and liquorice. Sweet on my skin. Small amount of citrus. Dries down to become more earthy. I like it. Far better than some of Montale’s other Aoud creations. Too early to confirm longevity as it’s been 2 hours since I sprayed. Projection is moderate at best. A pleasing addition to the collection.

Ohhh! Amo la liquirizia! Uno dei pochi Montale in cui l'aoud non è amaro e non è predominante. Dolce e fresco contemporaneamente, adatto a tutte le stagioni. Sillage e longevità molto buoni. Purtroppo dopo qualche settimana che lo usavo mi ha stancato e l'ho regalato

I'm really surprised the ratings on Aoud Greedy aren't higher than they are here. It's one of my top Montale AND top all-time fragrances. I'm guessing this is purely due to the licorice note, which I personally love, but apparently many folks don't love!

Smells like exactly like the midnight and intense versions of Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin. Amazing!

Agree with the majority here, this carries similar DNA to Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin Midnight and Intense. This is the main reason for my purchase of Aoud Greedy, I wanted something similar to Lolita Lempicka's DNA. The difference though is in the opening of Aoud Greedy where a vibrant lemon starts but fades quickly. The lemon is a bit too overpowering for my nose and unfortunately, I don't get much licorice, if any. The scent settles though to a woody/musk which is very pleasant. Sillage is pretty good, with projection at about an arms length. Performance and longevity is great. Aoud Greedy may not be to everyone taste so be mindful where and when you use this. Ratings Sillage: 8/10 Longevity: 9/10 Scent: 7.5/10

I am absolutely fascinated by this cocktail of lemony-licorice, almost medicinally bitter, notes sitting on top of a wood and patchouli base. There's nothing sweet whatsoever about it, and, apart from smelling a bit similar other Montale patchy-blends I've sniffed, it's really rather unusual, bold and unconventional. For the days when the sugar overload from most modern perfumery leaves you overwhelmed? This, perhaps, could be your perfect palette cleanser. Absolutely unisex, but much more unusual on a woman than a man I reckon, as it's very herbal and probably veers more traditionally masculine, to those who care about such old-fashioned distinctions.

This to me is L'Ambre des Merveilles Intense, or what I would imagine Elixir des Merveilles smells like but it doesn't (I wrote "orange peel jelly and rye crispbread" in my review of said fragrance, I wasn't too impressed). As I wrote in my review of L'Ambre though, this is the fragrance version of a candy called Bonbon Kloakslam. I really don't think most people find this edible, but I do. It is both a golden yellow and black at the same time, sweet citrusy liquorice with a slight skankiness that I can totally see some people finding revolting. In my book it's a love.

It's just me, but this stuff is so soft on me, I need to stick my nose into my arm/skin to feel it. Sometimes I can smell anise/liquorish like Au Masculin, other day I can smell more TM Angel, patchouli than anise, very interesting perfume, but the low sillage bothers me a lot, because I really like the scent. Full unisex, low sillage, lasting is about 7 hours.

Very prominent lemony notes initially, with wood and amber in the background and a soft hint of sweet from flowers. Was expecting oud here but nope. The wood is vetiver. Goes well though with the strong lemony scent, which doesn't really last so drydown is more of a woody sweet. Not really getting licorice but the musk lingers in the drydown.

To me this scent is very good! Fresh but not too fresh at the same time with also some sweetness. I love liquorice so this note is very addictive to me. A nice perfume to have also because it is very versatile.

I like it. Interesting scent with the licorice note being the most prominent. Cooler weather and evening scent. I would consider unisex leaning slightly masculine.

Just a reminder: when I give a bad review, it’s only my personal opinion, and I’m not trying to step on any toes. But I think Aoud Greedy is absolutely vile, and I don’t say that about too many fragrances. I don't get any licorice (this isn’t good because I love the smell of licorice), and it smells like cheap amber. But there’s more..... I wasn’t sure exactly what the problem was, until now. SOMETHING (not sure if the fragrance, chemicals, or both), but something in Aoud Greedy reminds me of a hangover. I don’t make a habit of getting hangovers, but smelling Aoud Greedy is that same feeling/experience, only not quite as bad, but still the same. I cannot imagine anybody wearing and liking this hideous creation.

For me this is a sophidticated parfume for men (i am well aware, that scent has no gender). For my nose, it just works much better on man's skin. Yet I agree, Aoud G reedy has much in common with Lempicka's works.

This perfume is a confusion... First theres aoud in the name but there is no actual oud in it or anything that smells like it. Second, most reviews are only comparing it with other fragrances, it was confusing to me as im unfamiliar with any of them. So I'll try describing it for those who have nothing to compare it to. It opens with some fresh lemon that disappears within a few minutes. Then realistic licorice note kicks in, it's kind of a anise seedic smell, and yes it's prominent, so you gotta love licorice to appreciate this perfume. Dry down is the best part, here is where it gets interesting and classy to me, it's licoricey/ musky/semi wood dry down that somehow evokes nostalgia. It could remind you of the 90s, as an era, not a particular perfume from the 90s. To me it's a pleasant perfume, however not very interesting to my taste. Not a unisex! It's masculine, gives off a classic gentleman vibe, someone with abit of old money and keeps a low profile, that everyone around him thinks "he's just comfortable".

Licorice direct. Salty anise. Relevance to Lempicka's take on the note is obvious, here's what's different. Au Masculine seems more romantic, vanillic, more of a sweetheart, a 00's clubber, a model, a pre-metrosexual fashionista. Aoud Greedy, on the other hand, takes the barbershop path: more serious and restrained, with the crispy freshness of an old-fashioned shaving soap, backed by some late 80's reworked fougere amber-patchouli base and a vetiver bitterness to complete the grooming vibe. It's a great "semi-modern" licorice frag, rich and deep, and there aren't so many of these around. It's a small miracle I actually took it from the shelf and smelled it, given the wtf name.

Had the pleasure of testing this today at local retailer and the liquorice definitely hits you immediately but rather interestingly, I'm noticing here that there's no Aoud (Agarwood) listed as a note...hmmm...without Aoud (agar wood) listed makes me a bit skeptical about buying it...I do remember liking the Aoud Greedy that I tested this morning, I can't recall whether or not I detected any Aoud when I tested it ...that said, I definitely want there to be Aoud when I buying something called "Aoud"...better do some further research on this one before buying.

My first impression was Lolita Lempicka masculin, then a warm spicy ambery heart evolves that is quite plush and pleasant. I haven't smelled the LL minuit for men but I have the LL minuit for women and the heart it has echoes of that (less dense) with the lemon and anise (and something that smells like men's cologne) accompanying it to retain the character of the top notes. This is one of the Montales that retains some heft all through its development. From a current sample bought at Europarfums.

This fragrance is awesome I was hesitant to purchase due to not being a fan of Licorice. I would have assumed being heavily sweet due to the Licorice but it's quite pleasant and uplifting fragrance. I'm a big fan of this fragrance and I'm enjoying wearing this one I get the amber in the background and the patchouli is there but not that thick heavy patchouli . 100 percent unisex doesn't lean masculine or feminine at all perfect for fall and winter

Yes....this has the DNA of the Lolita Lempinka line..both male and female scents. If you love licorice,this is one for you. I am NOT a fan of licorice in scents...so this is a pass for me. I will say,that I do see the quality in the ingrediants.

Tried this today and instantly reminded of B*Men by Mugler.. liquorice dominant but this subsided to a sweet gourmand . I find lolita homme much more floral than this personally .

Domi im not 100% but i think they just changed the look of the bottles but fragrantica never changed it

Vetiver ruins it for me. Also, Lolita Lempickas are much more nuanced, subtle and pleasant to my nose.
